I have the same exact Kimber. Same one. I see it has an external extractor like mine too. If the problem is the extractor, that extractor spring needs to be changed out with Wolff Gun Spring's Extra Power Kimber External Extractor Spring. I did it to mine, and my gun's been flawless. Never a Fail to Fire or Fail to Eject.
I bought a sig-sauer pistol before a kimber. Should have spent money on the kimber the first time. They are reliable and great guns. My Kimber 1911 has not had any issues. You have to break in the gun first! and remember to clean and oil your gun. GLOCKS ARE OVERRATED. I prefer a Springfield Armory XD over a Glock.
@TheJvalle I'd take the Sig all day long. You don't need to clean and oil it after every use in order for it to run without malfunctioning. I have put over 1000 rounds of shitty range ammo through my P226 to the point of carbon flaking off the slide, and never a malfunction. Try that with your Kimber.
@bigman55434 I have a 226 and the fucker failed 4-5 times per mag with good ammo. Had to send it back to factory. I'm SO sick of people like you thinking their personal experience is what dictates the behavior of all pistols. GTFO.
@HaleFire7 Maybe you are too fucking stupid to realize that your own damn reply was contradictory to what you preach. Dumb fuck. Maybe your wife bent the slide on it using it to pound nails into the wall or something. There is no Sig P226 on the planet that malfunctions 4-5 times per mag unless there is something broken in it. Go back to eating your potato chips you fat fuck.
@bigman55434 Wow Mr. Tough Guy, I'm so scared of keyboard warriors like yourself!
I pointed out the problem with my SIG because I was providing a counter-example to YOUR point. You're the one that couldn't even decipher my post, and I'M the dumb fuck? The irony is...overwhelming.
I did get my SIG fixed and I've put ~1500 rds through it without a hitch. I have nothing against them.
You should really work on that attitude boy, you're making an ass of yourself. Have a nice day.
I wonder whats up. I have never ever had a problem with it. Never jammed once. However it will if you don't oil it after 5-10 mags. Glocks are over-rated. I saw a guy get his finger nearly cut off using a glock when his slide came back it messed up his hand. I got to use a HK USP right after using the Kimber and hated it.The 1911 design is great and been around 101 years. Oil your firearm, use good ammo and clean it. There's your problems.
So you're telling me I need to DCOA my $1000 1911 after every 50 rounds, That seems to be a problem as I like to shot 100-150 rounds each time I'm at the range.
@DotNetPromo Well if you would please take the time to read my comment It said this is my personal observation of my Kimber, -I'm not telling anyone to do anything. I live quite a ways from the range and go not as often as i'd like. However when I go I shoot as much or more than 250+ rounds of .45 not including the .22 conversion.
Like you stated our Kimbers are not cheap and should not be treated cheaply. In my family there should be no excuse for a weapon jamming. Same goes for the military.
Ask me about my Kimber and my Glock .45's. The Glock misfires regularly, the Kimber never does. I get light strikes on my primers all the time with the Glock. My Kimber does not like Chip McCormick mags.
Hey Nutnfancy have you ever tried a RIA 1911 I'm kinda knew to thi and I bought one because the price did I mess up? Thanks great videos by the way...
Never been a big fan of Kimber! Its hard for me to justify $1,200 to protect the 30 bucks in my wallet... My Glock 27 does that just fine!
When it came to "custom" I did just that and ordered a full on custom from Les Baer... If you can't see the difference... It's because you have never had both in your hand!
I just paid 1200.00, for kimber tactical pro 4 inch and I have to send it back in getting hot shells to the face every time I shoot and lord of failure to feed
In addition I added a Wolff recoil spring. Kimber SS carry pro is a 4" model with 22# spring. Wolff is a 23# spring. I posted my Kimber complaints but I hope this helps someone. I love my Kimber reliability now. Metal insert helped with the slide lock back after last shot. Somes the Wilson with the plastic follower would fail on 2 out of 6 magazines hence the Tripp follower. Wilson Combat mags did not solve my problem. It took the new Wilson +P mags.
My Kimber problems solved. No details on how I arrived at this solution for FTF, FTE and FTL. Final solution with many suggestions from club members. 1)Wilson +P mag with stiffer spring +P essential. 2) Using Tripp followers with metal insert in all Wilson mags. 3) Ground off little bump on follower. I hated my highly customized Kimber SS carry Pro since 1999 and put it away. Now in the last 4 or 5 PCL practices 2000 rounds I've had only 1 FTL (failure to lock slide back).
@RAHMX145 Ask me about my Kimber. It does not ever fail. Outperforms my Glock in every respect, including reliability. Kimbers are not the number one 1911 seller for nothing(I think that is accurate). These videos just bring all the bad experiences to one place so people can complain and makes it seem worse than it is. Some people probably don't clean and lube well. Some probably limp-wrist. I don't personally know anybody who has had a bad experience with a Kimber.
All I've got is my Glock 10 MM, 45, & 9mm and all are working fine THANK YOU VERY MUCH. In case I decide on a cool 1911 can any of you pistol Guru's recommend a full sized machine-pistol shop to help de-bunk the problemes?
same thing happens on my Kimber Tactical Ultra II no matter what ammunition or magazines you use (wilson combat or the Kimpro mags) would definitly NEVER consider it as a CC weapon with such poor reliability. glad i got mine at an estate sale. very disappointing for a gun that retails for around 1100 bux new....
i think your problem is 100% extractor, but if you search in internet you can found some rules for do customization in your 1911, barrel throat, ramp and others. 1911 is really nice pistol
$10 says "extractor". He did say it's 6 years old,right? Heavy use,no doubt.
As The Brits say, "It's shagged,Mate."
Nutn favors Glocks over 1911s; he should snap out of it.
Why does he think that those that venture into Really Deep Doo Doo prefer tuned 1911s over anything else? There's also mil.spec. .45 ammo that civilians can't get,yet.
Please feel free to stand against demons(c) with a .45 1911,12 ga. pumper and a K-Bar.
Hey OJ not sure how old your gun it but I found off youtube the same gun having the same problem. This is a Kimber TLE/RL II correct? Anyways the problem seems to be the SLIDE STOP LEVER. This part needs to be smoothed down some. Call Kimber to send out a replacement or just smooth it down yourself and see if it helps? Here is a link to the guy off youtube his name is noBuzzkillin and the video is Kimber Report Part 5/5 - Kimber Custom II TLE/RL....
FTF issues to mention and slide not staying open on last round. In addition the recoil spring guide is two piece and kept coming unscrewed. Screwed, I love that word. I'll try a new extractor next and may as well get the bump saftey. I've seen many seasoned 1911 guys have issues with the Kimber safety.
Well let me know if you get it squared away. I bought my $1,600.oo Kimber in April 2000 and had so many issues I put it away. Now Wolff recoil spring, Wilson/Tripp magazines and now a new Wilson HD+P. HD+P failed to feed second from last round in both new mags. This mag has the stronger mag spring with more coils. It only hold 7 rounds even though the mag is the same as the 8 round. Another diff is there's a hump on the follower instead of a groove. Too many
The first few malfunctions looked like horizontal stovepipes.
Malfunctions from 5:56 onward are due to weak extraction (loose extractor tension).
Source of the problem looks like the extractor. I think he may just need to tune his extractor to a tighter tension.
Nutn, how's OJ's 1911 now? Did you guys get it up and running? Please put an update in the Description if possible. Thanks and keep the videos coming! :)
colt 1911 used for the u.s army trial to see if they wanted it fired 6,000 rounds without one problem , when the barrel got to hot they dipped it in a bucket of water an kept going non stop .. 6k rounds water the end of test probably would have did another 6k
@Living4fishing The original army 1911 has been greatly altered to arrive at the modern Kimber gun. The army issue .45 is a rattle tattle gun, if you shake it you can actually hear it's loosely fitting parts shaking. Accuracy is not great (not that they need to be for a defensive pistol, really....) but feed it a steady diet of FMJ rounds and you can shoot it into pieces without any hiccups. Most modern 1911's are much more tight fitting, and hence the reliability issues starts piling up.
I had the same issue with my Stainless Raptor II. I had a bad Wilson 8rd. My only malfunction was on the last round though. This makes me want to go ahead and replace the recoil spring just to be sure. Never want to find out new issues when the real time comes.
@skybyrd007 Failing to feed the last round is usually a sign of a bad or worn magazine spring. It looks like officer jarred is having issues with extraction, a worn recoil spring wouldn't leave a case stuck in the chamber.
That model had A LOT of problems with the external extractor. Kimber has since gone back to the internal extractor, which seems to have solved the problem. What do you think?
One good reason I won't give away my S&W Model 10, 3" barrel revolver and two Speed Loaders. Yeah, I know only 6 shots, and I have to reload. But it never jams, no springs or expensive "designer" ammo or mags are ever needed. So far nobody has ever volunteered to stand in front of "that old gun" ! Yes, I own several auto's the best yet, is my S&W 469 9mm in brushed Nickel. The last all steel S&W auto I believe. 100's of rounds through it with out one failure.
Keep your mags factory. If you used original mags it would feed fine. Also what grains are you using on your reloads? Don't use aftermarket products they're shit.
@Hilife724 I know right? Watch it again, you can recognize him which makes the episode so much better. Also, it makes me laugh because I can only imagine the conversations nutn and jared must have had
@sneakydukes The 1911 platform has been around now for 100 glorious years. I can respect that. In 100 years the design has been tinkered with by everyone from bubbas to gun Gods. And still it's the design that I see jam the most on videos, in books, magazines etc. At least the non-biased ones. Why is it Sig brought out the P226 design in about 1986? and you have to really try to jam it and even thats tough. The Elite around the world prefer it when they can have anything they want. Glock....
Glock...another goof proof design. I'll walk right passed the cool factor of the 1911 and on to the Eurotrash guns when my life depends on it. Even John Moses Browning was looking for a superior design to his old 1911 when he came up with the Hi-Power in 1935. That's also a preferred pistol of elite units globally. The USA loves their 1911 to the point of insanity sometimes. Why did the worn recoil spring suddenly show up in the desert for a guy that shoots a lot? Is it him or the gun?
Officer dude is supposed to be a SWAT guy? He would even have an armorer helping and he lets his last line of defense get worn out? Hmmm? He'd better improve his schedule of maintenance and soon. I have an old W. German made P226 with thousands of rounds I can't even guess how many. And it's all stock and original. Well maintained by me and no one else. Still haven't had a jam or stovepipe. Bad ammo aside. Sig, MecGar and even crappy ProMags run 100%. Food for thought.
@14goldmedals I agree, my duty gun is a Glock 22 and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I do understand why people love the 1911 though. People often shoot 1911's better than they do other guns. 1911's are the most aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable guns to shoot IMHO. However, for serious use, Glocks are all that I will use.
@14goldmedals goof proof design? Not the Gen 4's from what im hearing.....I like glocks and own many....But I cant stand people who think they are the end all be all pistol....And take their Glock brochure in the bathroom with them to rub one out......We already have nutnfancy to RAVE about glocks and how they are the beast thing since sliced bread, we dont need it in the comment section too ;) LOL
@TheVert1276 I'm not a Glock guy by choice but have owned a Gen1-22 and a Gen3-17C. They were both as advertised. Draw, aim, fire, repeat. Boring. No safeties to remember to take off or put on. I'm more of a Sig guy in DA with a decocker. I love a true SA option. If I were stricly target shooting on the range then sure I'd get a 1911. But for carry? Not a chance.
He should probably be doing a review of whatever glock he likes rather than showing that this gun with 6 years of service with swat is malfunctioning.
RWAD KIMBERS MANUEL,THET SAY SPRING DONT LAST FOTEVER . I think 800 rd for recoil spring . Changing may help , i run wolf 18.5 lb variablr ans stock spring is 16lbs.
@glock2026 recoil springs go bad after 800 rounds? shit, dosent it take atleast 500 rounds to normally break a gun in? i got a springfield 5 inch light weight loaded operator. i musta put a few thousand rounds in it and it just laughs at this kimber.
My Kimber was doing the same thing as his.I sent it back and let a Kimber gunsmith work on it.Took six weeks to get it back and when I did they had a paper in the box explaining what they had done.The problem was a bad extractor!But since it was about three years old they did a full spring replacement.Recoil spring,hammer spring and every other one.Plus to my surprise they sent me 2 new Kimber mags plus they replaced the spring in original mag I sent with it.Now it eats any ammo I put in it!
@GOGORAT131818 No mine was about 3 years old and the warranty says: Kimber Mfg., Inc. firearms are warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for one year after the date of original new gun retail purchase. The manufacturer agrees to correct by repair or replacement (with the same or comparable quality model) your firearm, without charge.Since mine was older than a year the work done on the springs cost a little over $120 bucks.No charge for the 2 new mags or new mag spring.
@GOGORAT131818 When you add it up it was like getting a free factory cleaning and 2 free Kimber mags.If you subtract all that from the $120.00 I paid to get it fixed I almost broke even on the money.Kimber is the best shooting 45acp I ever had and all this would have been covered if it had happened within the one year warranty.
whats the deal with Kimber i hear alot of stuff about unreliable kimber is and i also hear that they are absolutely amazing............ i want the custom II tle/rl but im not sure
Extractor - Dirty, Bent, Out Of Spec ... some fired casings seem to have partially left the chamber at an angle causing the ejector to not hit the casing at a good enough angle clear the Slide/ejection port .....maybe who knows ??
I have owned two kimbers with the external extractor and that is the problem. That is why they stopped making it. Maybe one in 10 would work properly. When I sent mine back they said that it was out of spec. I think that the spring tension and angle of the extractor were off.
It is clear many of those commenting aren't even paying attention to the video. THE PISTOL IS QUITE OLD, IT HAS BEEN IN USE FOR YEARS AND NEEDS MAINTENANCE. IN ADDITION TO THIS, IT IS AN OLD MODEL WHICH KIMBER HAS IMPROVED UPON, WITH THE EXTERNAL EXTRACTOR. That is all.
I have a Kimber Custom TLE 2 and a glock 21, clean both after every 100 rounds and I have put over 5000 rounds thru each, not one stovepipe out of either. the glock is easier to clean, but the Kimber feels better in my hand. Both are great guns, the glock is more forgiving when it comes to being dirty, but the Kimber in my opinion is a better handling gun. When it comes to 1911's cleanliness is next to Godliness
It could of been the extractor. The tension isn't right or it just needs to be replaced. I gave one and have owned a Springfield 1911A1 for 3 years and put more than 800 rounds threw it and had failure to feeds. Its usually the ammo and I run PMC 230 grain factory load FMJ. and I have a full length guide rode with 18lbs recoil spring. I put it and still had failures. I replaced the extractor and had no more problems.
Might be ammo, I am also not an expert on 1911's, but i know enough to know that you have to run a certain type of ammo through those platforms. "race car of the pistol world". They run fast but require alotta love and maintenance.
COD? I actualy served 20 years in the Marines, Im not a "civilian sheep dog" Say what you want, there is no pistol more proven in the world than a 1911. If you cry about the weight of a 1911 your out of shape, there is nothing but arm chair know it all's thats never seen any combat complaining about my coment. Marine Corps Force Recon use kimber 1911, not Glock, an unproven piece of plastic.
Use a G22 for work because that's what's issued. But my money went to a pair of 1911 Springfield Professionals that I could not be happier with.....they both work with match grade accuracy right out of the box! Great videos, keep up the good work!
My Ultra Covert 2 would do that malfunction all the time, regardless of what mags i used.. I don't think I'll ever feel comfortable with Kimber again.. I'm going back to Springfield
The US Mil switched to 1911 during the Philippine War to stop enraged tribesmen who were hopped up on jungle narcotics. The old .38's just wouldn't suffice.
There are far better choices for duty carry... Glock, Springfield, HK, Smith M&P...sorry 1911 fans...you can find a modern gun with superior firepower, modern manufacturing and state of the art materials...or bet your life on 19th century technology. It's your choice.
While I do love the look and feel of the government model...every one I've had (four total) all had reliability problems... primarily feeding/function. Since this I have sworn off the 1911...why spend 700-1000 or more on a gun y
@mercturd85i own 4 glocks and 2 kimbers,i love the glocks but that custom ll shoots like a dream man,its accurate and light kicking,u cant beat em man.i probably like my kimber so much cuz of the deal i got on it.i only paid $600.01 for it,while everyone else is paying $800.00-$900.00 for it.i have a friend that owns a huge gun shop,he hooked me up cuz i buy so much at his store.
This video is seriously misleading. No doubt that that neither of these guys know much about 1911 pistols. First off, if a 1911 is made according to the original specifications you'll have zero problems. Secondly, if you're having FTF, FTRB, etc., it is NOT usually a "spring problem", most often it's an extractor problem. Mags play a role, but a minor role. The real problem is the modern manufacturers of 1911 pistols, their specs are all over the board. The design isn't the problem by any means.
Not true. Properly tuned (blame it on the manufacturers, not the design of the 1911) and manufactured 1911s run great. A properly set up Kimber (either internal or external extractor model) will give you 100% reliability. The weakness comes from not sticking to the original design. I'm not a 1911 purest but if you change the geometry of the gun it's not going to work properly. Bad feed ramp angles, improperly cut V.I.S., etc. will reek all sorts of havoc. They should make them right.
@Greyswyndir Thats my point! You pay a few hundred dollars more ($1000+) for a "custom kimber" and it malfunctions?? I speak from experience. You would think that the maufacturer would "properly set it up" right by now. NOPE. Dollar for dollar, its not worth it. I have 2 Sig 1911's and not one hiccup, the cost was at or under $900 out the door. I'm not a 1911 purist either, I just love guns. :-)
It's really not "custom", they're all production guns, but you're right either way, you should get a gun that works. All this "break-in" crap stems from guns made too tight on purpose, because 1911 addicts don't want a "rattle trap" even though they were meant to be a little loose for combat. It's really the customer's fault, they except it so the manufacturers build it any old way they please. Extractors not made out of spring steel, ill-fitted barrels, tolerances too tight, etc.
@Greyswyndir I know they're not "custom," but kimber loves to use that word a lot. It's not the customer's fault that kimber can't build their guns properly. The customer puts trust in the company to deliver a working product. Just because the customer "accepts" it, does not mean they're at fault, its kimber's responsibility to deliver a properly built gun.
If people continue to by guns that don't work properly out of the box (the vast majority do function properly) and continue to by said guns then it is there fault. Shame on you the first time, shame on me the second time. Every manufacturer has problems, I don't care what anyone says. It's impossible to build every gun perfectly considering it's a production gun and not truly custom. Also, they're built tight on purpose, so they do have to be broken in properly.
@Greyswyndir No One buys guns that don't work on purpose....NO ONE! Yes, gun manufacturers can't always be perfect, however, there are those (kimber) who are consistently having issues. Kimber just got too big for their breeches.
Kimber got a bad rap because of their external extractor problems. They produced over 80,000 in 2009. Compare that number with the actual guns that had problems and it becomes statistically insignificant. All gun makers produce a few lemons, it's the law of averages. The vast majority of Kimber's 1911s work fine.
That's fine but I never did get what your opinion was? Is your opinion based on anything other then assumptions, i.e., the Internet, without any numbers to prove your point? Are other gun manufacturers having problems with their firearms?
I wasn't, I was making a point and you missed it. If your "opinions" are based on bullshit then your opinion is going to be bullshit. You mentioned that "you speak from experience". One gun is statistically meaningless, that was my point. One-hundred guns out of 80,000 is statistically meaningless also. All manufacturers have problems, from Glock (lots of recalls) to Smith and Wesson. It's fine to have an opinion, just try and base it on as much factual information as possible.
Act like an adult "dude" and don't have a hissy-fit when someone questions your lack of logic. We all have to take responsibility for what we say and do, it's supposed to be part of being an American. If you like you can act like a little baby and lose control over yourself...or you can be a man and use your mind instead. I can't believe you man, no wonder this country is dead.
@Greyswyndir Logic?? I already said we dont agree, didnt I?? Why couldn't you just leave it at that?? Then you tell me I had to explain myself to you because you weren't satisfied with my point!! Calling my opinion "bullshit!!??" Who the fuck do you think you are?? And you just keep coming and coming like a baby to candy!! THIS SUBJECT IS DEAD!! GET A LIFE!! MOVE ON......DUDE!!!
Hey idiot, learn how to read. I used the word "if" so I wasn't necessarily addressing you, I was making a general statement. For a guy that says he isn't looking for an argument you sure seem awfully quick to call people names and act like a jackass. Try growing up and acting like an adult, there isn't any need to use four letter words when you disagree with someone. Try using your intellect instead of your ego. You have emotional issues to work out, I wonder how you treat people...
...face to face? I doubt you'd loose your self-control and use profanity like that. You'd probably wind up getting slapped by someone. If it isn't proper in real life then it isn't proper on the Internet.
Still enraged huh? Dude? Sorry, I don't work on a ranch. I don't have to try and figure you out, you're easy to read. Maybe you should move on, you're the one screaming and yelling, not me. Here's some advice, sit in a dark room and breath, count to ten, breath some more.
@fury350z You do realize this man's Kimber is quite old and he has been using it for years? It is also a design that has been improved upon. I have a Compact II and thus far it performs great. With a 4 inch barrel it shoots more accurate than my friend's full size Springfield. And it is definitely not due to lack of operator skill. No disrespect to Springfield but that thing couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. And that's coming from him.
@fury350z Well that's your opinion but myself and many others speak from experience. Not trying to be hostile, just saying. Have you ever owned a Kimber or are you just going by people's problems you read about online or something?
It could be the problem but not necessarily. Many EE Kimbers run flawlessly. If given the option though, I'd take the internal over the external just because Kimber's external design is proprietary and they don't make EE guns anymore. What happens in ten years if you own an EE Kimber? Will they still have replacement extractors? Eventually the EE Kimbers will be collector's items (may take a few decades!). The theory was good but the execution was bad.
A properly tuned 1911 is very dependable. The problem lies not in the original design but in the manufacturers who are making them improperly. If they would stick with the original design and fit the parts properly there wouldn't be a problem in the first place.
haha u love arsnenal aks but you talk shit on kimbers ha go live in china u retard

anthony4199 3 weeks ago
In addition I added a Wolff recoil spring. Kimber SS carry pro is a 4" model with 22# spring. Wolff is a 23# spring. I posted my Kimber complaints but I hope this helps someone. I love my Kimber reliability now. Metal insert helped with the slide lock back after last shot. Somes the Wilson with the plastic follower would fail on 2 out of 6 magazines hence the Tripp follower. Wilson Combat mags did not solve my problem. It took the new Wilson +P mags.
I want to thank all the shooters in the club.
jbrow117 4 weeks ago

Nutn favors Glocks over 1911s; he should snap out of it.
Why does he think that those that venture into Really Deep Doo Doo prefer tuned 1911s over anything else? There's also mil.spec. .45 ammo that civilians can't get,yet.

Hey OJ not sure how old your gun it but I found off youtube the same gun having the same problem. This is a Kimber TLE/RL II correct? Anyways the problem seems to be the SLIDE STOP LEVER. FTF issues to mention and slide not staying open on last round. In addition the recoil spring guide is two piece and kept coming unscrewed. Screwed, I love that word. I'll try a new extractor next and may as well get the bump saftey. I've seen many seasoned 1911 guys have issues with the Kimber safety.
jbrow117 2 months ago
Well let me know if you get it squared away. I bought my $1,600.oo Kimber in April 2000 and had so many issues I put it away. Now Wolff recoil spring, Wilson/Tripp magazines and now a new Wilson HD+P. HD+P failed to feed second from last round in both new mags. This mag has the stronger mag spring with more coils. It only hold 7 rounds even though the mag is the same as the 8 round. Another diff is there's a hump on the follower instead of a groove. Too many
jbrow117 2 months ago
The first few malfunctions looked like horizontal stovepipes.
Malfunctions from 5:56 onward are due to weak extraction (loose extractor tension).
Source of the problem looks like the extractor. I think he may just need to tune his extractor to a tighter tension.
Nutn, how's OJ's 1911 now? Did you guys get it up and running? Please put an update in the Description if possible. Thanks and keep the videos coming! :)

Living4fishing 2 months ago
@Living4fishing The original army 1911 has been greatly altered to arrive at the modern Kimber gun. The army issue .45 is a rattle tattle gun, if you shake it you can actually hear it's loosely fitting parts shaking. Accuracy is not great (not that they need to be for a defensive pistol, really....) but feed it a steady diet of FMJ rounds and you can shoot it into pieces without any hiccups. Most modern 1911's are much more tight fitting, and hence the reliability issues starts piling up.

Yes, put a new Wilson Combat 17.5# recoil spring in it.

I had the same issue with my Stainless Raptor II. I had a bad Wilson 8rd. My only malfunction was on the last round though. This makes me want to go ahead and replace the recoil spring just to be sure. Never want to find out new issues when the real time comes.
skybyrd007 2 months ago
@skybyrd007 Failing to feed the last round is usually a sign of a bad or worn magazine spring. It looks like officer jarred is having issues with extraction, a worn recoil spring wouldn't leave a case stuck in the chamber.

14goldmedals 3 months ago
@14goldmedals Why is that? I don't necessarily disagree, but I just want to hear your opinion of why a 1911 is inferior.
sneakydukes 3 months ago
@sneakydukes The 1911 platform has been around now for 100 glorious years. I can respect that. In 100 years the design has been tinkered with by everyone from bubbas to gun Gods. And still it's the design that I see jam the most on videos, in books, magazines etc. At least the non-biased ones. Why is it Sig brought out the P226 design in about 1986? and you have to really try to jam it and even thats tough. The Elite around the world prefer it when they can have anything they want. Glock....
14goldmedals 3 months ago
Glock...another goof proof design. I'll walk right passed the cool factor of the 1911 and on to the Eurotrash guns when my life depends on it. Even John Moses Browning was looking for a superior design to his old 1911 when he came up with the Hi-Power in 1935. That's also a preferred pistol of elite units globally. The USA loves their 1911 to the point of insanity sometimes. Why did the worn recoil spring suddenly show up in the desert for a guy that shoots a lot? Is it him or the gun?
14goldmedals 3 months ago
Officer dude is supposed to be a SWAT guy? He would even have an armorer helping and he lets his last line of defense get worn out? Hmmm? He'd better improve his schedule of maintenance and soon. I have an old W. German made P226 with thousands of rounds I can't even guess how many. And it's all stock and original. Well maintained by me and no one else. Still haven't had a jam or stovepipe. Bad ammo aside. Sig, MecGar and even crappy ProMags run 100%. Food for thought.
14goldmedals 3 months ago
@14goldmedals I agree, my duty gun is a Glock 22 and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I do understand why people love the 1911 though. People often shoot 1911's better than they do other guns. 1911's are the most aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable guns to shoot IMHO. However, for serious use, Glocks are all that I will use.

The manufacturer agrees to correct by repair or replacement (with the same or comparable quality model) your firearm, without charge.Since mine was older than a year the work done on the springs cost a little over $120 bucks.No charge for the 2 new mags or new mag spring.

Noremorse10 5 months ago
I have a Kimber Custom TLE 2 and a glock 21, clean both after every 100 rounds and I have put over 5000 rounds thru each, not one stovepipe out of either. the glock is easier to clean, but the Kimber feels better in my hand. Both are great guns, the glock is more forgiving when it comes to being dirty, but the Kimber in my opinion is a better handling gun. When it comes to 1911's cleanliness is next to Godliness
TheShotgunExpresss 5 months ago
It could of been the extractor. The tension isn't right or it just needs to be replaced. I gave one and have owned a Springfield 1911A1 for 3 years and put more than 800 rounds threw it and had failure to feeds. Its usually the ammo and I run PMC 230 grain factory load FMJ. and I have a full length guide rode with 18lbs recoil spring. I put it and still had failures. I replaced the extractor and had no more problems.

I believe is the feeding ramp from the barrel. Is not the mag's or the recoil spring. Call Kimber, good luck.
tchd 6 months ago
This video is seriously misleading. No doubt that that neither of these guys know much about 1911 pistols. First off, if a 1911 is made according to the original specifications you'll have zero problems. Secondly, if you're having FTF, FTRB, etc., it is NOT usually a "spring problem", most often it's an extractor problem. Mags play a role, but a minor role. The real problem is the modern manufacturers of 1911 pistols, their specs are all over the board. The design isn't the problem by any means.
Greyswyndir 6 months ago
Sig 1911.....To hell and back reliability!!!
Kimber.....expensive paper weight!!
fury350z 6 months ago
@fury350z,
Greyswyndir 6 months ago
@Greyswyndir Thats my point! You pay a few hundred dollars more ($1000+) for a "custom kimber" and it malfunctions?? I speak from experience. You would think that the maufacturer would "properly set it up" right by now. NOPE. Dollar for dollar, its not worth it. I have 2 Sig 1911's and not one hiccup, the cost was at or under $900 out the door. I'm not a 1911 purist either, I just love guns. :-)
fury350z 6 months ago
@fury350z,
It's really not "custom", they're all production guns, but you're right either way, you should get a gun that works.
Greyswyndir 6 months ago
@Greyswyndir I know they're not "custom," but kimber loves to use that word a lot. It's not the customer's fault that kimber can't build their guns properly. The customer puts trust in the company to deliver a working product. Just because the customer "accepts" it, does not mean they're at fault, its kimber's responsibility to deliver a properly built gun.
fury350z 6 months ago
@fury350z,
If people continue to by guns that don't work properly out of the box (the vast majority do function properly) and continue to by said guns then it is there fault. Shame on you the first time, shame on me the second time. Every manufacturer has problems, I don't care what anyone says. It's impossible to build every gun perfectly considering it's a production gun and not truly custom. Also, they're built tight on purpose, so they do have to be broken in properly.
Greyswyndir 6 months ago
@Greyswyndir No One buys guns that don't work on purpose....NO ONE! Yes, gun manufacturers can't always be perfect, however, there are those (kimber) who are consistently having issues. Kimber just got too big for their breeches.
fury350z 6 months ago
@fury350z,
Kimber got a bad rap because of their external extractor problems. They produced over 80,000 in 2009. Compare that number with the actual guns that had problems and it becomes statistically insignificant. All gun makers produce a few lemons, it's the law of averages. The vast majority of Kimber's 1911s work fine.
Greyswyndir 6 months ago
@Greyswyndir Ok, you have your opinion and I have mine, we'll leave it at that.
fury350z 6 months ago
@fury350z,
That's fine but I never did get what your opinion was? Is your opinion based on anything other then assumptions, i.e., the Internet, without any numbers to prove your point? Are other gun manufacturers having problems with their firearms?
Greyswyndir 6 months ago
@Greyswyndir Listen buddy. I have my opinion and you have yours. Dont try and start an argument.
fury350z 6 months ago
@fury350z,
I wasn't, I was making a point and you missed it.
Greyswyndir 6 months ago

@Greyswyndir Logic?? I already said we dont agree, didnt I?? Why couldn't you just leave it at that?? Then you tell me I had to explain myself to you because you weren't satisfied with my point!! Calling my opinion "bullshit!!??" Who the fuck do you think you are?? And you just keep coming and coming like a baby to candy!! THIS SUBJECT IS DEAD!! GET A LIFE!! MOVE ON......DUDE!!!

@fury350z,
Hey idiot, learn how to read.

@Greyswyndir Hey idiot, practice what you preach!! I said "THIS SUBJECT IS DEAD!! GET A LIFE!! MOVE ON......DUDE!!!" Do you know how to read??
Face to face?? Don't try and figure me out buddy, I don't call myself "fury" for nothing!!
So let's try this again, THIS SUBJECT IS DEAD!! GET A LIFE!! MOVE ON......DUDE!!!

@fury350z,
Still enraged huh? Dude? Sorry, I don't work on a ranch. I don't have to try and figure you out, you're easy to read. Maybe you should move on, you're the one screaming and yelling, not me. Here's some advice, sit in a dark room and breath, count to ten, breath some more.

@Greyswyndir This is how your parents punish you when you don't listen huh? Good for them!

@fury350z,
I have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

@Noremorse10 Thats the same way I feel about kimber.

@fury350z Well that's your opinion but myself and many others speak from experience. Not trying to be hostile, just saying. Have you ever owned a Kimber or are you just going by people's problems you read about online or something?
Noremorse10 5 months ago
@Noremorse10 I speak from experience as well! I used to own a kimber. My friends USED to own kimbers! I don't talk smack without firsthand knowledge.

SEND IT BACK!!!
bigfela69 7 months ago
I sent my Ultra Tactical into Kimber and they put a new slide on it with an internal extractor. No questions asked.
azcactus2008 7 months ago
external extractor is the issue, send it back to kimber, they will give u back one with internal extractor
andrewctai 7 months ago
@andrewctai,
It could be the problem but not necessarily. The theory was good but the execution was bad.

hey nutnfancy are there any good American made doublestack 1911's?
silentkilla420 7 months ago
extractor isssue. Nothing you can't fix by sending it back to kimber. They make great dependable 1911's but no one's perfect.

Get an HK45 and you won't have to put up with this crap

@Sherpaful,
A properly tuned 1911 is very dependable. The problem lies not in the original design but in the manufacturers who are making them improperly. If they would stick with the original design and fit the parts properly there wouldn't be a problem in the first place.
