  • hillarious. I know for a fact, for a FACT that layne norton has been using hormones for the past 10 years. This guy is straight up ADDICTED to tren. He is a hormone addict, a straight up drug addict, and a huge liar. Layne Norton is a disgrace to the sport. He is hormonized up the ass, and he can only get up to 200 lbs on stage. He is literally a joke and a disgrace, a filthy, lying criminal.

  • skinny legs...

  • Natural? LOL. Layne is no where near natural!

  • @Nietzsche68 um well lets see he compete's as a pro in natural bodybuilding shows where I know from experience they do polygraphs and urine testing so im assuming that yea he is deffinatly a natural athelete

  • @blondiecat15 I have been told that you can go around those tests if you time it right...like say you take steroids or some other banned substance up to several months before they test you, then apparently, it won't show up in the urine test.

  • @Nietzsche68 Layne is a Pro natural bodybuilder and powerlifter. Do research before you troll.

  • why do you use band ?

  • When you push weight in an upward motion like a bench press, gravity "helps" pull the weight down, therefore there is less tension. The bands create tension on the downward motion (eccentric portion of the movement)

  • Chains are supposed to be set up in a way where they collect on the ground when you lower the weight....and you pick the chains off the ground as you lift upwards. If you don't use bands and chains lifting lighter weights at maximal speeds, your body will force shut off when you get close to the top of your lifting range to prevent injury. Bands and chains provide extra resistance to overcome that shut off valve in your body, leading to much power power. Look at the most powerful lifters.

  • think of dynamics, as the body pushes the bar up, your mechanics gain leverage. In powerlifting you try to accelerate the bar as fast as possible. now for some strength. you lift lighter weights at faster speeds and you use bands/chains because they increase the weight as you go through the motion as you increase leverage.

Powerlifting has a lot to do with leverage and technique. lifting the right muscles in the right way using the right weights and accelerations. bands and chains are great.

  • Why are bands so confusing to you guys, lol, they increase the downward acceleration of the bar which makes you use more force to lift. It is different than chains. Chains just make the bar heavier. Bands make the bar want to come down A LOT faster.

If you drop a regular bar, it falls at same rate as gravity, drop a banded bar and it's like launching a slingshot down at you.

  • Um, no thats not what bands are for....

They essentially for the same thing as chains, though they are not heavy themselves and are a little easier to use....

Band tension increases on the way up. You do NOT want it to go faster downward, thats asking for an injury.

  • No, bud, you're wrong. Chains add more mass to the bar, only get downward force of acceleration, force increases because mass is increasing. Bands add downward tension force to the bar changing instantaneous acceleration of the bar.

Drop a banded bar and drop a bar with chains, banded bar in tension will ALWAYS fall faster.

  • You really want the bar to accelerate faster than gravity permits as it it?

You obviously no nothing about the negative, and think iso-kinetic exercise is the best.

No man, its not for acceleration. Its so the farther you get t the top of the motion with a band, the more band tension you have. It makes the resistance greater in the top portion, less tension in the down portion of the lift.

Faster acceleration? That only works in NASCAR and slingshots...

  • Have you ever used bands in training???

  • yeah only for deadlifting and squats though...

Again, it creates more resistance in the top portion, where your stronger and can handle the extra resistance...

  • Next time you squat with bands try to pop the bar off your back and tell me it doesn't accelerate faster back down than an unbanded bar with any weight. That's what I mean by it adds more acceleration (by tension) to the bar to create more force.

That is what I mean by acceleration on the bar. I don't mean you are physically trying to accelerate your body downward just that the force you are resisting has a greater acceleration due to band tension.

Chains do not add any additional acceleration.

  • your still not gettin what im saying so im just gonna say, never mind your probably right anyways....

  • not necessarily depends how heavy the chain are and if they increase in weight link to link chain and bands are pretty much the same except the resistance in bands increases exponentially and the resistance in chains is linear.

  • wow, if my gym played The Shins while I worked out I would definitely stop going there. I want some hardcore shit to get me pumped, nothing against the Shins.

  • I just thought "If that shit started playing in the middle of my set, I'd immediately lose strength and drop that on my chest."

  • I think it awesome, it adds to the muscle confusion, you know keep the muscles guessing, trust me Layne is not going to trying without reason!!!

  • hes training for powerlifting

hes making the transition form bodybuilder to powerlifter becuase hes taking a few years off competing

the bands are used to get past sticking points in varios exercies i.e squat bench press

  • useless.. lol waste of time.. just stick to basics

  • if u guys know about using chains, its the same principle, adding more resistance near the top, and decreasing the resistance at the bottom, common sense, and besides, its freggin layne, he knows.

  • er...y not jus add more weights?lol..

  • Your name says it all. You're an idiot. Please post less.

  • i wish my gym had half the equipment that one has (golds)

  • This must be a good technique for gaining strength I've seen powerlifters do something similar with chains since the higher up you push the bar the more resistance you face, the bands must also allow you to get a nice squeeze at top as well...

  • hes just trying new things...i wouldnt do this though

  • Not a very safe training method. Its not necessary at all. Is this Layne`s doing? :)
