Because being stopped at the joint is a pretty easy way to stop any attack. In order to actually to pull off this punch, you would have to have a great deal of strength to overcome such a simple block. Chances are, he would have been knocked out in a real boxing match if he actually had to push his fist forward with body weight. I would have ended it with a cross to the jaw instead of appearing dumbfounded the entire bout. Epic stuff, nonetheless.

@ArashiNoOkami No Dude Is Not That The difference is that counters use the opponents weight against them; the Jolt counter does that but it also adds the weight of the user. This gives much more power, but also makes it dangerous, since if you miss you are basically throwing your force into their force but your face is meeting a glove. From what they explain in the anime and manga, the jolt counter is done by shifting all the weight onto your front foot, here when Miyata "stumbles."
