How'd you come up with the idea of family guy? Seth: simple, I watched an episode of the simpsons, got high and decided to redo it, except with out funny plotlines and with random cut away jokes that don't have to do with anything

Thats not nearly as much as 14; they had about the same number of emmys as FG has now. The Simsons have been around wayyy longer than FG, so it's pretty obvious they won more emmys.

For one thing, South Park is produced in a week, so their topical satires are simply some of the best on TV (intelligent, funny and timely) -- I've never seen that in FG. I could give you 10 examples of timely South Park satires that were amazing.

Family Guy is nerdy comedy. Part of why I like it so much is the similarities with Monty Python, and then there's this quiz game show element Tony's talking about where you might get it or not.

I personally think that the reason people don't like Family Guy that much is probably because they don't get the brilliancy of the jokes. Some jokes i don't get until I look it up then I start to roar with laughter. (Example. During the episode Chick Cancer where Stewie says that he's cooler than the cheetah from the cheetah commercial I wasn't laughing that much until I found out a little more about Neal Peart and listened to the full song Tom Sawyer by Rush.

@retroguy02 I can understand your argument, Family Guy's humor has declined dramatically, but how has South Park gotten better? I watched season 6 of South Park and I was laughing so hard I was in tears, but then I watched season 10 and it was really dissapointing. I still occasionally turn South Park on once in a while hoping that it'll go back to being as funny as it was in seasons 1-6 and it never is.

@retroguy02 One other thing, I was debating over which show was SMARTER, not which one is growing more popular. The reason South Park is so funny to people is because most Americans can only understand simple humor nowadays, they don't understand jokes about politics, they don't understand jokes about international conflicts, but they do understand fart jokes and profanity. Family Guy laid back on the farting and profanity and now they aren't as popular? Thats sad

@DetIzRed I'm sorry to say that but ask anyone who watches both shows which show is smarter, and 9 out of 10 would say South Park. You must be insane - no offense intended - to think that FG is anywhere near as smart as SP.
For one thing, South Park is produced in a week, so their topical satires are simply some of the best on TV (intelligent, funny and timely) -- I've never seen that in FG. I could give you 10 examples of timely South Park satires that were amazing.

@retroguy02 Uhh... Wouldn't the fact that South Park episodes are produced in a week be a setback towards their intelligence? I have seen some very clever one-liners on South Park, but there's only about one of those per episode, from my point of view. I'm not saying Family Guy has the smartest jokes ever either, but I think Family Guy keeps their shows pretty well balanced and entertaining whereas in South Park you may have to watch an entire episode to hear its intelligence.

I personally think that the reason people don't like Family Guy that much is probably because they don't get the brilliancy of the jokes. Some jokes i don't get until I look it up then I start to roar with laughter. (Example. During the episode Chick Cancer where Stewie says that he's cooler than the cheetah from the cheetah commercial I wasn't laughing that much until I found out a little more about Neal Peart and listened to the full song Tom Sawyer by Rush.

2. It's too smart for people to care
