I did some reading and emailling up and found it was a staged show in Korea, the "Muay thai fighter" in question "camp" got a nice sum of cash, the TKD guy is highly skilled no doubt but is fighting a guy who obviously does not know how to fight at all, i think they should put up a real fight with this TKD practitioner and a Real Muay Thai Fighter, and it would be a good fight.

That "Thai" kickboxer has all the features and paleness and proportions of a chinese or a korean. Thai guys, or those from the south-east asian region are more gracefully proportioned.
when a tae kwon do person gets to much muyai thai kicks to the knees and legs, they are dead. Muyai thai is a form of martial arts that can witstand tae kwon do easily. cause tkd's kicks are unstable when kicking. muyai thai kicks are more offensive than tkd's kicks. cause tkd can do nothing when a decent muyai thai fighter is up close in range. the tkd fighter wont be able to kick or so. but the muyai thai fighter will knee and eventually continue killing the tkd fighter.

@KJEWLE As a system TKD drills things that will probably get you more beat up in a real or full contact competition fight than anything, I have seen a few TKD guys come to the muay thai gym I train at so far none of them could box, they all had side on stances, all bounced around, there was even a teenage girl who once came with her farther, he said she was a title holder or a champion (i can't remember but she was high up) the instructor was going easy on her and he still destroyed her...

@kyle1172 what man would lose to a teenage girl? :D Lots of TKD is trained to be rubbish (along with karate and kung fu), but u have to realize demographics have changed for those styles. You dont see children taking muay thai, though it will happen in the next decade. Its better to judge a style in its most original context. If not you have a ton of variables that dilute your findings to a generalized population. Politics and demographics are a prime example.
@ikcjjtt - a man who does TKD :D and this video is of a WTF fighter! , and I see many children doing muay thai! there are thousands of children who starts muay thai at the age of 5 in thailand, as for britain there is child classes at my club and quite a few go not as young as 5 though, I'd say between 7 and 10. @kyle1172 diluting is what made TKD soft. Believe me when i say that in the 50s TKD guys got hit in the face with a spinning back fist (my Grandmaster). Diluting it made it so that those moves were illegal. I admit that mainstream karate, kung fu, and TKD is ineffective. I have done so many times. but that doesnt mean all of it is utter crap. I just got my ass beat by a TKD guy, though i beat a muay thai guy just the other day. i used muay thai on the TKD guy, and TKD on the muay thai guy.
@kyle1172 You may be surprised that me, a Jeet kune do, kickboxing, kali, muay thai, TKD, karate, capoeira, and jujutsu student got the shit beat out of him by a TKD guy, but beat a muay thai guy. If u go by your style theory of Muay thai > TKD, Muay thai > everything else. Muay thai shouldnt have lost. But its not as simple as rock, paper, and sissors. There are an infinite amount of variables to consider.

When i would thai kick his leg, he would block with his shin. so i feinted the thai kick and came around with a side kick to the stomach (his stance made him open there). Worked every time. But i eventually got him with a spinning back kick (rarely done in thai), and finished him off w/-

@kyle1172 my only arguement is that at the end of the day it really comes down to the individual and the situation. experience in REAL fight (not sparring matches) will show u what im talking about. No stand up outside of Kali will help against a knife attack. Put me up against ANY MMA fighter and give me a knife, and i promise you i will come on top EVERY time. (this has actually been done in one show, MMA guys got stabbed (rubber knife) way past the point of surviving.
@ikcjjtt I agree in a real fight when weapons get thrown into the mix that is true but when there is no weapons as a system alone muay thai is i think the most usefull, this is because it always (no different styles or dojo's) teaches boxing, kicking, kneeing,elbowing, clinchthrowing along with sweeps & counters ect. Nearly all muay thai gym's also do good hard sparring & conditioning. (if you go to the right classes) My point is overall as a system for a one on one fight muay thai is the best -
@ikcjjtt -- well known art, I know there are less known or popular arts/even single gym's which do extremely good training and some styles of TKD or Karate/gym's (but these may be hard to travel to and/or hard to find out about) which are also better, but if you look at on the larger scale for stand up fighting there is no single style as well known and relied upon as muay thai which really works.

I did some reading and emailling up and found it was a staged show in Korea, the "Muay thai fighter" in question "camp" got a nice sum of cash, the TKD guy is highly skilled no doubt but is fighting a guy who obviously does not know how to fight at all, i think they should put up a real fight with this TKD practitioner and a Real Muay Thai Fighter, and it would be a good fight.

when a tae kwon do person gets to much muyai thai kicks to the knees and legs, they are dead. Muyai thai is a form of martial arts that can witstand tae kwon do easily. cause tkd's kicks are unstable when kicking. muyai thai kicks are more offensive than tkd's kicks. cause tkd can do nothing when a decent muyai thai fighter is up close in range. the tkd fighter wont be able to kick or so. but the muyai thai fighter will knee and eventually continue killing the tkd fighter.

I know all the forms, self defense, sparring rules, history, philosophy, politics, religion, ect. about TKD.
trust me when i say the way it is trained today is not how it used to be in the 80s.
but TKD still has and some schools do train in elbows, knees, open and closed hand strikes, head butts,throws, locks, and feet.
some schools even cross train in judo/ muay thai.

@KJEWLE As a system TKD drills things that will probably get you more beat up in a real or full contact competition fight than anything, I have seen a few TKD guys come to the muay thai gym I train at so far none of them could box, they all had side on stances, all bounced around, there was even a teenage girl who once came with her farther, he said she was a title holder or a champion (i can't remember but she was high up) the instructor was going easy on her and he still destroyed her...

@KJEWLE looked more like one style was simply better than the other, since she was stood side on with her legs really far apart (looked like she was trying to squeeze one out) all that was required was a weak low kick and every time she fell right over, every time he hit her she curled up then the only time she hit back she tried some fancy spin kick which was sooo telegraphed he just blocked it everytime and countered, Taekwondo (well the vast majority of it) is rubbish lets be honest...

@kyle1172 what man would lose to a teenage girl? :D Lots of TKD is trained to be rubbish (along with karate and kung fu), but u have to realize demographics have changed for those styles. You dont see children taking muay thai, though it will happen in the next decade. Its better to judge a style in its most original context. If not you have a ton of variables that dilute your findings to a generalized population. Politics and demographics are a prime example.

@ikcjjtt - a man who does TKD :D and this video is of a WTF fighter! , and I see many children doing muay thai! there are thousands of children who starts muay thai at the age of 5 in thailand, as for britain there is child classes at my club and quite a few go not as young as 5 though, I'd say between 7 and 10. I sort of agree with what your saying but by diluting an art you can make it better, this definetly happened in thai boxing as the art's boxing has improved due to western boxers ----

@kyle1172 diluting is what made TKD soft. Believe me when i say that in the 50s TKD guys got hit in the face with a spinning back fist (my Grandmaster). Diluting it made it so that those moves were illegal. I admit that mainstream karate, kung fu, and TKD is ineffective. I have done so many times. but that doesnt mean all of it is utter crap. I just got my ass beat by a TKD guy, though i beat a muay thai guy just the other day. i used muay thai on the TKD guy, and TKD on the muay thai guy.

@kyle1172 You may be surprised that me, a Jeet kune do, kickboxing, kali, muay thai, TKD, karate, capoeira, and jujutsu student got the shit beat out of him by a TKD guy, but beat a muay thai guy. If u go by your style theory of Muay thai > TKD, Muay thai > everything else. Muay thai shouldnt have lost. But its not as simple as rock, paper, and sissors. There are an infinite amount of variables to consider.

When i would thai kick his leg, he would block with his shin. so i feinted the thai kick and came around with a side kick to the stomach (his stance made him open there). Worked every time. On the flip side though, he countered my thai kick with his own and that worked every time to ( i couldnt walk straight for 3 days). But i eventually got him with a spinning back kick (rarely done in thai), and finished him off w/-

A boxer would move in and jam it. Had that happened i would have lost that fight. now for the TKD guy that mopped the floor with me. He happened to be a master at both TKD, and jujutsu. He taught me everything i know in Jujutsu. I couldnt land one hit on him. got KOed 3 times. The guy was a master of the feint and fakes

@kyle1172 When i blocked his low punch, i was hit by a hook kick on the other side of my body (1st KO). When i blocked his crescent kick, he hooked punched me on one leg (2nd KO). When he round house kicked me i blocked it, then he swept me with a flying scissor sweep, and grounded and pounded from there. All of his first attacks were always feints, and i fell for every one of them. In both these fights- what really won/lost the match? Styles? people? str? speed? agility? experience? -

@kyle1172 Last year i also saw this lady on the news who apprehended a criminal with a rear naked choke. guess what she was- A black belt in taekwondo. and when the News people shot clips of her training- guess what she was doing while wearing a TKD uniform- knees on thai pads. Maybe she was crossed trained ,i dont know. ( my jujutsu teacher doesnt teach elbows and knees in his TKD class, but will teach it in his jujutsu class). the news people said nothing about it. I assume it was pure TKD.

@kyle1172 my only arguement is that at the end of the day it really comes down to the individual and the situation. experience in REAL fight (not sparring matches) will show u what im talking about. No stand up outside of Kali will help against a knife attack. Put me up against ANY MMA fighter and give me a knife, and i promise you i will come on top EVERY time. (this has actually been done in one show, MMA guys got stabbed (rubber knife) way past the point of surviving.

@ikcjjtt I agree in a real fight when weapons get thrown into the mix that is true but when there is no weapons as a system alone muay thai is i think the most usefull, this is because it always (no different styles or dojo's) teaches boxing, kicking, kneeing,elbowing, clinchthrowing along with sweeps & counters ect. Nearly all muay thai gym's also do good hard sparring & conditioning. (if you go to the right classes) My point is overall as a system for a one on one fight muay thai is the best -

@ikcjjtt -- well known art, I know there are less known or popular arts/even single gym's which do extremely good training and some styles of TKD or Karate/gym's (but these may be hard to travel to and/or hard to find out about) which are also better, but if you look at on the larger scale for stand up fighting there is no single style as well known and relied upon as muay thai which really works.

Then topped up wth gay rules like no punches to the face then covered in head & body pads, I admit you do so some okay TKD fighters like Serkan Yilmaz but these guys still all get destroyed in K-1 and MMA and more importantly their styles seem to be adapted more to muay thai stance, with more boxing and more practical kicks ---
