This may have been indicative of who she was as a person, since she hints that she had a similar deceptive relationship w her ex. Jude can answer simple questions about her, he doesn't really know her & their relationship can't withstand the damage. By contrast, despite the affair, Julia's relationship survived bc it had a more solid foundation.

You can get the idea of how manipulative a trailer can be paying atention to this one. When Larry (Clive Owen) says "I love you. I love everything about you" in the trailer, it's clearly directed to Anna (Julia Roberts) in some kind of declaration of his genuine love. But if you'd watched the movie, you'd know that the exactly quote is "I love you, I love everything about you that hurts" actually directed to Alice (Natalie Portman) in a desperate moment at the strip club.
