people often ask me about the time i met johnny cash. well i will tell. ya. it was back in 76. and he was in to play my uncles club and i came down with the flu that weekend. momma had to lock me in the bedroom to keep me from sneaking off. lol sorry john i will catch on down the road. godbless.
If today´s so called GANGSTERS appreciated the true outlaws of society with all their class, there wouldn´t be any murder in the streets today.
Bur I can´t complain since I have access to such beauty, but when I see the Justin Bieber´s of the world getting 500.000.000+ views (!) on a single video I start crying.
johnny said " i aint cut out to be FRANK james..." instead of jesse james. he said that because he and kris made a movie about frank and jesse james and johnny played frank!!!
There is Waylon using MXR Phase 90, and soon i get one from Thomann, and play it with a Telecaster, and a Fender amp. My dream is almost true. Just gotta find a leather covered Telecaster. xD
This was the best concert I saw...back in the early ninties...I love Jonny and the boys...I saw them all....man...the best show I saw....and I saw Pink
Floyd the wall....from the front row...these guys...man o man...
love em,lost a little respect for Waylin when he let that babe take the rap for his weed, shame sahme.sing the blues pay your own dues.Still these can be the 'fab four' in this old heads head...
look at johnny at 0:14 just look at the cheer and fire in his eyes singing with waylon he said that waylon either he is your friend or he ain't your friend and john said thankfully he is my friend that is something i will cherish until my dying day they will never know just how big of a hole them 2 left when they left this world
@coleyman1 yeah chris ledoux is a good singer but he can't compare anywhere close to these 4 men they were the best especially waylon i always had a dream of becoming a country music singer and i always hoped to meet waylon some day but he died when i was 8 in 2002 so i never got the chance but i know 1 day when i die and go to heaven i will meet him and maybe i can play a few songs with him and johhny
@jimbo226 im not totally sure about that either but i am sure that them 4 men up there were the greatest especially waylon i cry every time i watch this full concert i always wanted to becom a country music singer and i had a dream to meet waylon jennings and i never got to i was only 8 when he died in 2002 but i hope that 1 day when i go to heaven i will be able to play a few songs with him and john
@wompo67 waylon always used that guitar i have never seen him use any other he got that guitar from buddy holly and after buddy died he said it was the only guitar that was good enough to use
RIPwaylon and johnny we miss you there will never be another group like the highwaymen the four greatest country music singers of all time the outlaws of county
@sandmangeorge93 Two of the greatest and I love Waylon's guitar pickin'. I also get a big kick out of the way Kris Kristofferson dresses and spins around. He's so obviously in awe of his three compadres. Great music. Love them all, but Waylon rules!!!aj
I Love this video.Could watch it at least 20times a day. You can see the love, respect and admiration they have for each other and the perfect chemistry and harmony between them .
I agree although I love to watch Kris doing anything. Can you imagine what it would've been like to be on the inside with these guys?! All such heroes and inspirations!
Yeah; it's funny ain't it? I was at a jobsite the other day and a bunch of guys had the radio tuned in to 93.7 Vancouver,BC.(I live just south of the border in WA) and I could not believe how shitty all the country voices were. It sounded like a cross between Michael Jackson and Britney combined together in a punk rock combo. I sorely regret not seeing Johnny and Waylon before they passed on, but I have bought every live DVD of either of them that I could get my hands on.
I was tuned into a local radio station this morning (Idaho) and heard them play an Ashley Simpson song. I nearly gagged. I guess all you have to do to have a country song these days is add some fiddles.
I saw them at the Patriot Center GMU in 1995. There were a lot of empty seats but it was an outstanding show. I will never forget the harmonica duet Johnny Cash did with Mickey Raphael with Orange Blossom Special, and how Waylon's voice stood out on Desperados Waiting For a Train. I also won't forget how the crowd cheered when Johnny sang "But I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die"
Johnny and Waylon could stand on stage with thier guitars and read the phone book, and it would still be better than anything on todays so-called "country" radio.
Thanks, I cant help but get angry when i think about what the record companies have done to country music over the years. If they want to play the music that they're playing, thats fine, but dont call it country just because you put on a cowboy hat while you play it, ya know. Anyways thanks for the compliment.
You're sure right glocknut17. That's part of reason Waylon and others were 'outlaws', they couldn't stand what the record companies where doing to music even back then! So they went off and did it their way and thank god they did!
haha- that's what I say on every song every time I watch! don't go writing hot checks down in Mississippi... and Papa's wishin' Mama'd stay in the kitchen... oh man, this one makes me laugh
Waylon -the one and only! Great video of the greatest artist to walk this earth -second to Johnny...or beside! Love them both so much!! They`re jamming together now in Countryheaven -Elvis, Roy and Roger is backing them up!!!!
-Waylon rules-
PS! Looking out for exchanging videos of him and others, feel free to contact me; hosscurtis(a)gmail(dot)com!
And music will never be the same, oldie no, and don't ever call them old. They are heros to those that care. Peace
