The only browser that I like using is Safari. It does what I want it to do and it does it fast. I could honestly care less about all the extensions in Firefox and as for Chrome, it makes for a good secondary browser but, it's not as fast as it is said to be, of course, none of them are.
Safari actually runs my flash games better than Firefox. I switched from Safari to Firefox a few years ago because it was secure, not IE, it worked, and it used slightly less HD space. But safari greatly increased my loading speed, and it ran my games noticeably faster (for me). So, I switched back to Safari.
Plus, Opera, never tried it, but I think it has too many features that I would never use.
Dude, you really saying in this video that Apple innovated and invented the tabbed browsing? They took it from Firefox. And you said yourself they took the 'Top Sites' feature from Opera ( 1:55 ). Why you say it's Apple's idea in almost the same line (2:20 ? I like Apple and i like some way they take and do business unlike Google / Microsoft.
@Winger4u Because he also said that Apple/Safari didn't just copy like most people do, but they really got something to work, look nice, and be something all it's own.
safari gives you more screen realistate although I prefer firefox for the add-ons. add-blocker is great for youtube vids. and the only time safari opens faster than firefox is right when I boot up my macbook. safari will load in a bounce and firefox may take 2 or 3.
You mean that Google Chrome came up with the tabs 'on the top' idea?
I would not say improved it.
They used the idea and removed one feature that i love in Chrome.
When you have let's say 15 tabs up and you want to start closing tabs, the little button that closes a tab stays under your mouse in Chorme until you move your pointer away. Compared to safari 4 where the tabs instantly resize when you close a tab. That means that you kinda have to chase the "x" marks.
I always heard that Safari was terrible, but after I put OSX on my Eee and used it for a bit I really grew to like it. I like it better than firefox for osx.
Except for the attentionwhore thing, I agree. Flock really is a nice web browser. It lets you have a shortcut to your webmail account like gmail, yahoo mail, hotmail, ect., it lets you see when your friends are on Youtube, and it comes with a bunch of other features too.
Hehehe. Remember to go to the Firefox site for addons because the addons link in the Flock browser isn't so great.
Most Firefox addons work fine in Flock but I've encountered a few that are buggy. I can't find a tab addon that works so I have to deal with the built-in tab stuff.
But yeah, Flock is great—even if you aren't a social networking attention whore like me. XD
Oh, I failed to mention, and this might just be me, but I can't seek in Hulu with Flock. My workaround is to just use Safari for Hulu. I have Hulu setup as my homepage on Safari and when I launches it automatically loads on my external monitpr since I play everything fullscreen.
Can you provide a more detailed tutorial on opera please? I've just down loaded it. I'd like to know more about the set you have illustrated in this vid. I've subscribed to you're channel.

Fact is, even if they have copied it, they have improved on it and made it even better. It's not some cheap rip-off, it is much better. And I only use the best. That's why I run OSX and use Safari and Firefox. If chrome was for Mac and it was better than Safari, then I would use it. But it's not, and thats why I don't. XD

Eric, why don't you say something about Google Chrome?, surely you've tried it out on your Vista machine. It has all the features those other browsers do plus more, and it had those features that Safari has first, Apple didn't invent them.
I HATE GOOGLE. they rule search and now you want to give them the broser market too. They will own the damn internet. Your browser, your search, they will know everything you fucking do. Screw google coming in here after 10 years copying everyone else features acting like they are some kind of broswer hero.
If you weren't browsing child pornography everyday you'd have nothing to worry about. Google doesn't monitor mine or anyone else's online activity through Chrome, if they did someone would find out and their company would get in so much shit it's unbelievable. Google search rules because it is the best, kind of like the opposite of Apple really.
My god you are a hypocrite, nearly everything you said I could have turned right back at you about how much you love Apple.
@AppleSoldier Plus, they're trying to come out with a new Operating system (or so I've heard) so they basically are trying to rule the computer market. it will probably just be copied features from major platforms.
@AppleSoldier Personally, I love the way Google does everything. I like to get all my stuff from one person. BUT, that being said, I do question their motives.
@AppleSoldier I usually enjoy your videos and your privacy and monopoly concerns with Google are legitimate, but they didn't copy anyone. Tabs on top and seperate process for every tab is unique to Chrome. Safari doesn't have it anymore, which sucks. But it's still my favourite browser.
ok.. i have used both chrome and Safari. and my preference is chrome. The Safari one is very uncomforitable to use at the moment with the tabs on the top.(definently on windows) Additionally why cant you move them around!
are you kidding me. Google owns teh search now you want to give them the browser market too? they will own the internet, you guys are crazy. Safari, IE, Opera adn all teh others have done major R&D over teh past 10 yearrs now google strides in like some kind of hero and all theydo is copy everyone elses features. Google has a lock on the net and you want to gice them more xcontrol. Read the chrome EULA. its SCARY,
i much rather google own the internet than microsoft. my two companies i'd want to own the internet would be 1.) apple and probably google. their web search is good although they should probably stick to being a search engine
emeek shut the fuck up you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. you say apple is better than everything else because it is what you are used to and the fact you cannot even make use of the command prompt in osx or any other os puts you on a much lower level than a piece of shit script kitty
I haven't tried the new safari 4 yet and I may check out for fun later. The screenshots that I've seen puts looking good over actual function. I personally enjoy Firefox the most, can change theme's, use various addons, and it's a open source community that continues to focus on improving Firefox.
If Apple starts doing this of supporting addons and able to change browser theme, then they would have a compelling browser. I personally don't like the GUI layout of Safari.
Somehow Safari copied Chrome in like every innovation. I don't really like Chrome though. Firefox is a little slow but has the best features of any browser out there in my experience. I use it and I can't really use anything else at this point because something's always missing. I just hate how unstable Firefox can be. I guess you can't have everything.
One thing i noticed about Safari4 (Windows) is that when you type a new site and press enter, sometimes it just refresh the current site, and you have to type the new site again.
And sometimes the interface bugs (when ther's a OpenGL application running)
Safari 4 is ugly. I'll be moving my tabs back where they belong. Safari 4 isn't even that innovative. Google Chrome had the tabs on top and the "Fast Dial/Speed Dial" built into it already. Chrome on Windows is faster than Safari 4 on Windows too.
google chrome is bullshit. They are getting into a market just because they can. They already own 90 percent of the worlds search now you want to give them control of the browsers too? chrome is nothing but a miss mash of features everyone else has innovated and google just stole them. you can have your 3 inch wide address bar if you lke ill stick to safari
In Safari 4 can you make it so that the tabs are always coming up like in Firefox? I hate multiple windows because Safari will save the window position and I guess you could call it OCD but I don't like to see the window moved around. LOL
Safari 3 had tear-out tabs, and private browsing. I personally use Safari, but thats just my choice. I use Firefox/ Camino as a secondary browsers, I use opera in college, and I'm currently waiting for Google to bring Chrome out on the Mac an I liked using it on windows.
google chrome sucks man. Its a windows broewser for the mac. they own search now htey want the browser market. I dont care what it is, they will not get my support. Chrome has just copied years of research from every other browser.they waited for everyone else to do the hard worl now they step in and steal it and evewryone wants it cause its google. Fuck google chrome
Fair enough, but Chrome did come up with the new tab layout, so it's not an original Apple idea. But as you said Chrome sucks, so thank god Apple have implemented it in the best browser: Safari!!
The safari page showing all the past web pages looks similar to addon called Speed dial, although in a slightly fancier look. Listen I don't care what browser copied what, just glad we have more choices now than in the past with Netscape and IE. Netscape is still around, however apple dropped them like a bad habit a few years ago to make their own borrowing open source from Konquerer's web browser.
No, You need a fucking clue. I remember the Top SItes as speed dile in Opera forever, However, Google came with the cool feature for your most visited sites, but both look extremely similar, So google stole or copied first, not apple.
Don't pop a blood vessel. We weren't even talking about who made tabs first or who made 'top sites' or 'speed dial' or whatever you want to fucking call it. Google Chrome is, to my fucking knowledge, the first browser to implement tabs at the very TOP of the page (above the address bar). Opera doesn't have this. Firefox doesn't have this. IE doesn't have this. Now, Safari 4 comes out with it and emeek claims they (Apple) came up with it. Learn to read.
yep, even safari 3.1 sucks on a mac it crashes alot also, pretty much all web browsing on a mac is crap on my ppc mac. I guess maybe they didn't suck after the switch. I don't use a intel mac very often, but power pc macs in general suck alot of balls. i used firefox for while for until I switched to a pc and was happy every since. I could just be mad because its a slow ass emac with a gig of ram. if youe very get a mac don't ever get a power pc mac they suck balls. get a intel one.
I would use Safari or Chrome on my Windows machine but I don't like how they perform zooming. On Firefox I can zoom in and it'll make the video larger.
In Firefox if you accidentally close a tab you can right click on the tab bar and click "undo close tab".
i love how you spend so much time talking about how the tabs at the top thing is such a wonderful original idea that apple thought up when chrome had it months ago.
The tabs at the top of safari look like they were kinda ripped off of google chrome. i mean really ripped off of google chrome. that is not an original idea from apple. although you may not have noticed that since there is currently no chrome browser for os x.
I use Firefox as my default web browser on my Mac. It was my default browser when i was on Windows & it still continues to be for many reasons: Compatibility, Speed, & customization just to name a few. I also have used Safari off and on for awhile. It's a good browser and my second favorite, but i find it falls short of Firefox in both speed and compatibility. I have also tried Opera. It isn't bad either, but again, just like Safari it falls short of Firefox.
Emeek, you should try Camino 2. It's a lot more mac-like than Firefox 3 and uses the same rendering engine (Gecko), so it loads pages at the same speed.
I think Safari 4 Beta is the best overall. It's much faster than all others because of it's new Nitro Java rendering engine and it has the best Web standards as it's the first browser to get 100% on the Acid 3 test. For me, speed and features are the most important things, so I use Safari.
I can't wait for Google Chrome for OS X to come out, too.
Yes, yes it is. I know all the facts regarding this. Chrome will be the next browser to get 100/100 on Acid 3. WebKit is the first rendering engine to get that score on Acid 3 and the latest version of WebKit is in Safari 4. Because Chrome also uses WebKit, the next version will also score 100/100. Firefox 3.1 Beta and Camino 2 score 71/100 on Acid 3 because Gecko still doesn't pass the Acid test. Opera 9.63 scores 84/100 and IE 8 gets a horrendous 20/100.
I use firefox mainly and it's been my choice for quite a while.
A feature I just found out is if you press F11 on the keyboard it free's up even more room. You might be saying, well I can't get back to my address bar and so on.
Not a problem, just mouse up to the top and the address bar drops down. It's like autohide for your browser. I've tried Google Chrome, it is rather fast and I like that you can take a new tab, pull it out and make it as a window, that's pretty cool.
Well currently my primary OS is Vista (Which I do like, but would like OS X) and I use a few browsers myself. I've been using Safari since around Dec '07 when it was in Safari 3 beta.
I also used FF3 from around that time when it was in beta. But I used Safari 3 as my main. Then in september Chrome came out but man was it unstable. But then by november it got very stable and it became my primary. Now Safari 4 Beta is out and I'm back to Safari as my main.
I use Firefox mostly because there are features that I'm used to using that Safari doesn't have, and once you get the addons, it's pretty hard to beat functionality-wise.
My choice: Firefox + AdBlock Plus (With EasyElement+EasyList and the keywork "banner" blocked)
When i try to switch the browser, all those adds and banners make me go back to Firefox.
And the Windows version of Safari 4 is just about 4 times slower then firefox (here). Good visual, and the Not So Original tabs at top, but it is slower (Windows?)
Firefox also have the Smart Location Bar, that helps a lot, i can open my sites typing one to three letters from what i remember on the site's title.
Hey Emeek, I think the old safari 3 does the same function of safari 4 on tabs.... You can slide them around and drag it to a new window to combine them, drag it out to create a new window...etc.....
im not taking the piss or anything but he loves apple a bit 2 much i like apple as well but i not make fun of other ones like MS and that and just say all gd things about apple
"You can leave it to Apple to come up with these new ideas"
Wow, Chrome had those tabs for almost 6 months now and it has the starting page that shows you all the windows . I know that Chrome uses webkit and is not out for Mac, but Apple took a lot from Chrome.
Don't get a power pc mac they are slow and not worth the buy they run hotter than core 2 duos and they are just plain slow. my eeepc outperforms the older g4s. if anyone gets a mac I would get a macbook pro or macbook because the imac use laptop components so its a waste to get a all in one in my opinion. Just remember on intel ones make sure to find universal binary programs because (Powerpc) Rosetta is not a stable emulator for apps like adobe creative suite cs2 , or cs.
makee sure you upgrade at least to 2 gigs of ram because 1 gig is not enough to run smoothly through the ui unless you like seeing that evil colorful ball all the time.
Firefox ftw

ok.. i have used both chrome and Safari. and my preference is chrome. The Safari one is very uncomforitable to use at the moment with the tabs on the top.(definently on windows) Additionally why cant you move them around!
xtreem0 3 years ago
wait one second.. why dosent the tabs move for me! im using leopard to... maybe the g4 is too slow.. lol whatever.
xtreem0 3 years ago
Whoa, I just tried to move it around after reading that... stupid Apple. Google all the way!
korwinblue 3 years ago
are you kidding me. Read the chrome EULA. its SCARY,
AppleSoldier 3 years ago
Your just mad cause it ain't on Mac yet LOL
Caboose2321 3 years ago
i much rather google own the internet than microsoft. my two companies i'd want to own the internet would be 1.) apple and probably google. their web search is good although they should probably stick to being a search engine
futbolplaya07 3 years ago
emeek shut the fuck up you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. you say apple is better than everything else because it is what you are used to and the fact you cannot even make use of the command prompt in osx or any other os puts you on a much lower level than a piece of shit script kitty
anon510 3 years ago
I haven't tried the new safari 4 yet and I may check out for fun later. The screenshots that I've seen puts looking good over actual function. I personally enjoy Firefox the most, can change theme's, use various addons, and it's a open source community that continues to focus on improving Firefox.
If Apple starts doing this of supporting addons and able to change browser theme, then they would have a compelling browser. I personally don't like the GUI layout of Safari.
blacksteel25 3 years ago
The great thing is that Safari now is the fastest browser available. It passes the Acid3 test 100%, it's great, even for a beta.
Sven88abc 3 years ago
I don't like Chrome either, but no doubt it is better than IE (with that click sound when the site is opening and it pop-up over any other window).
I see chrome like some buttons over webkit (and nothing special, and it shows pop-ups!).
AppleSoldier did not cover the browsers download management.
jvlppm 3 years ago
People can say that Chrome stole from Safari but people forget that Chrome is based off of Safari's webkit.
UTisNUM1 3 years ago
Somehow Safari copied Chrome in like every innovation. I don't really like Chrome though. Firefox is a little slow but has the best features of any browser out there in my experience. I use it and I can't really use anything else at this point because something's always missing. I just hate how unstable Firefox can be. I guess you can't have everything.
PoliticalHell 3 years ago
One thing i noticed about Safari4 (Windows) is that when you type a new site and press enter, sometimes it just refresh the current site, and you have to type the new site again.
And sometimes the interface bugs (when ther's a OpenGL application running)
jvlppm 3 years ago
What about Camino?
emperordarius 3 years ago
Safari 4 is ugly. I'll be moving my tabs back where they belong. Safari 4 isn't even that innovative. Google Chrome had the tabs on top and the "Fast Dial/Speed Dial" built into it already. Chrome on Windows is faster than Safari 4 on Windows too.
cockyjeremy 3 years ago
google chrome is bullshit. They are getting into a market just because they can. They already own 90 percent of the worlds search now you want to give them control of the browsers too? chrome is nothing but a miss mash of features everyone else has innovated and google just stole them. you can have your 3 inch wide address bar if you lke ill stick to safari
AppleSoldier 3 years ago
Funny how when I first ran Safari 4, I thought to myself, wow alot like Chrome
ThingsontheWeb 3 years ago
In Safari 4 can you make it so that the tabs are always coming up like in Firefox? I hate multiple windows because Safari will save the window position and I guess you could call it OCD but I don't like to see the window moved around. LOL
rml695 3 years ago
What was the icon you were using for Safari? it looked green.
grayfox106 3 years ago
You need an addon for Safari to see all pages at once lol...man, that's was already a standard feature in IE7 a year ago hehe

Did Microsoft saw that IE have no future?
jvlppm 3 years ago
um, IE8 answer your question?
korwinblue 3 years ago
is ie8 the "browser of the future"? i feel like their throwing away ie and starting all over. Maybe doing right. But they need to release ie8 anyway.
jvlppm 3 years ago
Hey emeek, GET YOUR FACTS STRAIT!
Chrome started the tabs on top.
Safari 4 is a BETA!
Firefox 3 Beta has alot of the same "new" features of Safari 4 like tear-out tabs and private browsing.
You hate on Windows "gaudiness" and being a "system hog". The new home screen in Safari is slow and just eye candy; no more functional than Opera.
I do agree with you that Opera is an amazing browser, but I would NEVER say that Safari has Firefox or Opera beat.
PS. I typed this on Firefox 3.1b2
WeeManFoo 3 years ago
Safari 3 had tear-out tabs, and private browsing. I personally use Safari, but thats just my choice. I use Firefox/ Camino as a secondary browsers, I use opera in college, and I'm currently waiting for Google to bring Chrome out on the Mac an I liked using it on windows.

"Safari 3 had tear-out tabs, and private browsing"
so does safari 4 beta
jimsta3000 3 years ago
Yeah, WeeManFoo made it sound like Safari 3 didn't have them either.

google chrome sucks man.
AppleSoldier 3 years ago
Fair enough, but Chrome did come up with the new tab layout, so it's not an original Apple idea. But as you said Chrome sucks, so thank god Apple have implemented it in the best browser: Safari!!
johnarkans 3 years ago
"google chrome sucks man. Its a windows broewser for the mac" - Google is now sleeping with Microsoft? LOL and Chrome isn't available on the Mac
ThingsontheWeb 3 years ago
actually there making google chrome for the mac. go look it up
ScyferDown 3 years ago
Here's my previous statement. "Chrome isn't available on the Mac" - I didn't say, it will never be available, I said currently.
ThingsontheWeb 3 years ago
The safari page showing all the past web pages looks similar to addon called Speed dial, although in a slightly fancier look. Listen I don't care what browser copied what, just glad we have more choices now than in the past with Netscape and IE. Netscape is still around, however apple dropped them like a bad habit a few years ago to make their own borrowing open source from Konquerer's web browser.
blacksteel25 3 years ago
Google chrome came up with the tabs on the top of the window not apple buddy.
Nelsonguevara 3 years ago 4
Yep. Chrome did that first. As usual, emeek gets shit wrong.
trolltrolling 3 years ago 3
No, You need a fucking clue. I remember the Top SItes as speed dile in Opera forever, However, Google came with the cool feature for your most visited sites, but both look extremely similar, So google stole or copied first, not apple.
KingMacintosh 3 years ago
And Apple just didn't COPY it.
KingMacintosh 3 years ago
we werent saying anything about the top visited page. we were saying that google came up with the tabs on top not apple. so you get a clue.
Nelsonguevara 3 years ago
No dumbass, Opera mades tabs first.
KingMacintosh 3 years ago
Don't pop a blood vessel. We weren't even talking about who made tabs first or who made 'top sites' or 'speed dial' or whatever you want to fucking call it. Google Chrome is, to my fucking knowledge, the first browser to implement tabs at the very TOP of the page (above the address bar). Opera doesn't have this. Firefox doesn't have this. IE doesn't have this. Now, Safari 4 comes out with it and emeek claims they (Apple) came up with it. Learn to read.
trolltrolling 3 years ago 2
opera has had tabs on top (yes, above the address bar) since at least opera 8 (the first version I used)
most browser innovations have been done by opera, though other browsers tend to implement them in a better way
sandyarab16 2 years ago
yep, even safari 3.1 sucks on a mac it crashes alot also, pretty much all web browsing on a mac is crap on my ppc mac.
ASCII808 3 years ago
I liked Firefox 3 until Safari 4 beta came out, with the new features and fast website loading, Safari 4 is my new favorite browser.
Dark4Vendetta 3 years ago
hey man nice video
davidskings 3 years ago
I would use Safari or Chrome on my Windows machine but I don't like how they perform zooming. On Firefox I can zoom in and it'll make the video larger.
In Firefox if you accidentally close a tab you can right click on the tab bar and click "undo close tab".
harmor20 3 years ago
i love how you spend so much time talking about how the tabs at the top thing is such a wonderful original idea that apple thought up when chrome had it months ago.
rypic7 3 years ago
actually IE had it before all of them, if you want to get technical
artfuldodga 3 years ago
Opera had it first to be really technical :)
ThingsontheWeb 3 years ago
The tabs at the top of safari look like they were kinda ripped off of google chrome. i mean really ripped off of google chrome. that is not an original idea from apple. although you may not have noticed that since there is currently no chrome browser for os x.
ps. chrome is my favorite browser on windows.
AymanRSaleh 3 years ago 2
Safari 4, a cheap copy of Google Chrome. Apple is just as bad at copying.
JGOETTLE 3 years ago
Not a complete copy. Safari 4 has Cover Flow for viewing all your history.
Atheismrulez 3 years ago 2
I use Firefox as my default web browser on my Mac. It was my default browser when i was on Windows & it still continues to be for many reasons: Compatibility, Speed, & customization just to name a few. I also have used Safari off and on for awhile. It's a good browser and my second favorite, but i find it falls short of Firefox in both speed and compatibility. I have also tried Opera. It isn't bad either, but again, just like Safari it falls short of Firefox.
beejm90 3 years ago
safari 4 kicks ass
sasukeanbu07 3 years ago
the new safari tabs are a copy of google chrome
xFTLxHIPPO123 3 years ago
Emeek, you should try Camino 2. It's a lot more mac-like than Firefox 3 and uses the same rendering engine (Gecko), so it loads pages at the same speed.
Atheismrulez 3 years ago
I think Safari 4 Beta is the best overall. It's much faster than all others because of it's new Nitro Java rendering engine and it has the best Web standards as it's the first browser to get 100% on the Acid 3 test. For me, speed and features are the most important things, so I use Safari.
I can't wait for Google Chrome for OS X to come out, too.
Atheismrulez 3 years ago
safari is not the first browser to score %100 on acid3
artfuldodga 3 years ago
Yes, yes it is. I know all the facts regarding this. Chrome will be the next browser to get 100/100 on Acid 3. WebKit is the first rendering engine to get that score on Acid 3 and the latest version of WebKit is in Safari 4. Because Chrome also uses WebKit, the next version will also score 100/100. Firefox 3.1 Beta and Camino 2 score 71/100 on Acid 3 because Gecko still doesn't pass the Acid test. Opera 9.63 scores 84/100 and IE 8 gets a horrendous 20/100.
Atheismrulez 3 years ago
I think that Opera 10 Alpha (at least an early pre-release) gets 99-100/100 on Acid3
emperordarius 3 years ago
Yes, it does. It gets 100/100, but it's a release for developers—it's an Alpha. So it shouldn't be included.
Atheismrulez 3 years ago
I use firefox mainly and it's been my choice for quite a while.
A feature I just found out is if you press F11 on the keyboard it free's up even more room. You might be saying, well I can't get back to my address bar and so on.
Not a problem, just mouse up to the top and the address bar drops down. It's like autohide for your browser. I've tried Google Chrome, it is rather fast and I like that you can take a new tab, pull it out and make it as a window, that's pretty cool.
blacksteel25 3 years ago
"A feature I just found out is if you press F11 on the keyboard it free's up even more room. "
- this works with almost all the browsers
ThingsontheWeb 3 years ago
Well currently my primary OS is Vista (Which I do like, but would like OS X) and I use a few browsers myself. I've been using Safari since around Dec '07 when it was in Safari 3 beta.
I also used FF3 from around that time when it was in beta. But I used Safari 3 as my main. Then in september Chrome came out but man was it unstable. But then by november it got very stable and it became my primary. Now Safari 4 Beta is out and I'm back to Safari as my main.
Order: Safari, Chrome, Firefox.
JGalva88 3 years ago
I also like using the latest build of Webkit (rendering engine for Safari, Chrome, Although the webkit builds use safari)
They include the latest web standard improvements and speed improvements to the rendering engine. You can get those at Webkit(dot)org
JGalva88 3 years ago
No denying that Safari 4 is much better than its earlier versions, on both mac and windows.
ddiiggiitt 3 years ago
I use Firefox mostly because there are features that I'm used to using that Safari doesn't have, and once you get the addons, it's pretty hard to beat functionality-wise.

i use i cab on os 9 i use safari opera and firefox i use apple computers mocrosoft sucks get a mac wintards
leondirect 3 years ago
opera ftw
ScyferDown 3 years ago
My choice: Firefox + AdBlock Plus (With EasyElement+EasyList and the keywork "banner" blocked)
When i try to switch the browser, all those adds and banners make me go back to Firefox.
And the Windows version of Safari 4 is just about 4 times slower then firefox (here). Good visual, and the Not So Original tabs at top, but it is slower (Windows?)
Firefox also have the Smart Location Bar, that helps a lot, i can open my sites typing one to three letters from what i remember on the site's title.
jvlppm 3 years ago
I was using Safari 4 since the release but got rid of it last night.
It has definitely improved in speed, stability and looks BUT... The coverflow bookmark stuff & top sites are cool but got annoying to me.
I like it simple and to the point. I don't care for it to look like Time Square in a browser you know?
FF I recommend to PC people ( not so much on mac )
Same as for Opera.
I ended up going to Camino 2.0b2, Why?
It's simply, fast, clean and " feels " more mac like, as weird as that sounds
MrMP81 3 years ago
does fire fox on the mac still not display the apple website correctly?
ASCII808 3 years ago
It seemed fine to me. Camino ( For Example ) uses FF engine ( Gecko ) and viewing apple's site with this, also displays it just fine.
Diff. Between the 2, FF is hacked to make it work on the Mac, Camino is Native \O/
MrMP81 3 years ago
speaking of kost..... how come his yt page is weird??? did someone hacked his account???

Hey Emeek, I think the old safari 3 does the same function of safari 4 on tabs.... You can slide them around and drag it to a new window to combine them, drag it out to create a new window...etc.....

worse than on windows, crashes all the time on the mac
ASCII808 3 years ago
Don't get a power pc mac they are slow and not worth the buy they run hotter than core 2 duos and they are just plain slow. my eeepc outperforms the older g4s. if anyone gets a mac I would get a macbook pro or macbook because the imac use laptop components so its a waste to get a all in one in my opinion. Just remember on intel ones make sure to find universal binary programs because (Powerpc) Rosetta is not a stable emulator for apps like adobe creative suite cs2 , or cs.
