Idealistic crap. If African people stopped having so many children and started being more responsible, then there would be less people to feed, and that's the simple truth.
@Farvadude Taking a look at the numbers referenced through public data for the top 4 fattest countries:
American Samoa - 93.5% x 66432 = 62,114
Kiribati - 81.5% x 98000 = 79,870
U.S.A - 66.7% x 308,745,538 = 205,933,274
Germany - 66.5% x 81,799,600 = 54,396,734
It seems to be evident that the US has 3.8 times the number of overweight populants as Germany. Percentages, like I said before, are grossly outweighed by the actual population numbers.
When a working system is prepared, I will take part in it to help eliminate hunger. However, the actions of an individual or several individuals that do not have a direct impact WILL NOT solve the problem.
@fedobear My mindset is that they idea in the video is stupid because it presupposes that a bottom up consumer based solution would work on any level.
@inademv That's the same mentality as choosing not to vote because one believes it won't make a difference. This mentality is common, and a whole lot of people end up adopting it; thus, making a direct impact in the -opposite- direction. Inaction is not an option. Be the change you wish to see. Do not wait for the majority; it needs to be created first. Be a part of that creation.
@thepenguin114 I live in America, voting doesn't make a difference (see: 2000, 2004). I'm not waiting for the majority, I'm waiting for a system that can actually achieve the change that the video wants to happen.
@inademv When a lot of people like yourself stop voting out of apathy, it most definitely does add up. "Waiting on a system"? What does that even entail? Waiting for people more motivated than yourself to tell you exactly how to change the world for the better? There is no "system" to wait for. It starts with you. The "system" emerges when more and more people start catching on and making more responsible decisions. It is not factual that the actions of an individual do not have a direct impact.
@loomingking 300 million people consume more than 6.4 billion? yeah buddy keep thinking that. and by the way, the US is the SEVENTH fattest country. we haven't been first for years. sorry to burst your bubble there.
@Farvadude Looking at percentages, US is around the 3rd-4th position. Unfortunately, the ones above the US are "countries" with populations of 100,000 or less. Looking at the percentage only gives a small viewpoint of the picture. I'm not even sure what the actual numbers of people per country exist as overweight, but that might give a better representation of the "fattest" countries. If a country exists with only 3 people, each one overweight, just by adding one average person would ruin the %.
Maybe I don't want to live in a world of 10 billion where everyone must eat rations of lentils, maybe I want to live in a world of 1 billion where people can enjoy steaks. Also it's worth mentioning that most of the surface of the planet is unsuitable for crops, by banning meat you would actually be decreasing the amount of food available.
@ging93 it's about eating less meat not taking meat out of your diet completely. if the demand for meat lowers then it allows for better distribution of the resources it takes to make that meat like the video said. its just saying...maybe instead of being a fatass all the time and stuffing your self with meats you should take a day off...vegetables are delicious by the way...come one we're not 3 years old anymore...

So the point is: to help some people i dont even know i must stop eating meat.
What comes next?
Should i work more and get paid less so some african will survive?
Why cant i be selfish?
I think what this video is proposing is unjust and extremely childish.
And , by the way, the problem is obese americans: they alone eat more than the rest of the world combined...
