Alright if your question hasn't already been answered here's how you do it, first like you said you have to take the battery out, now when you got the camera you got a cable that has the same ends on both sides right? Ok so what you do is connect one side to the camera and one side to the charger there should be a port opposite side from the port for the charger cable and then use a usb or a fire wire to connect to the port in the camera and then into a computer, reply if you need more help.

Now you need an editing program, if you have one, go to it and go to file and go to "capture video" or something like that.
