  • one of the greatest entertainment events of the 20th century. none of todays performers come close to what diana is.

  • The real pros usually are, rosstown. Good to know you were there.

  • I was there. She was Fantastic!

  • 800,000 people? That is amazing! Diana Ross is truly the boss. So you had the pleasure of meeting Miss Ross? How was she?

  • She is very nice. Extremely down to Earth. A real pro.

  • thnx so much for that info but,DR has said that the next day,it was double the amount of people

  • She's wrong. It was about half.

  • Mason,

There is a possibility that DVDs will be made available, in the not to distant future.

  • @Terashirma It's a year later, and I'M STILL WAITING for a good quality dvd of this fabulous performance (days 1 and 2).

  • Russ and Ralph thanks so much for this background info!! To the powers that be: DVD PLEASE!!

  • You guys had me grinning throughout your video.

  • Forget the rest. Diana Ross' Central Park performance is perhaps one of the most legendary in history. Especially that image of her in the orange outfit, the train flying off the back, the floodlight on her facing the crowd and black sky... Amazing. Motown is releasing a Diana Ross DVD next year as part of Motown 50. Bring us the Central Park DVD, too!

  • now i really wish someone would make this concert into a dvd with these kind of extras. it would be massive.

  • When this concert aired, I was thirteen and living in an area where cable T.V. was not yet available to everyone. My parents after what I am sure was much debate decided it better to find a way for me to see it than to deal with the tear floods and sigh tempests that would follow, so they took me to a friend's house, only to suffer those same tears when the T.V. showed very little Ross and a lot of static. I was sure it was somehow their fault! Only years later did I know the story!

  • 800,000 people. I cannot imagine. This is a wonderful telling of one of the greatest showbiz stories. Thanks, Russ and Ralph, both for sharing this story and for that concert of concerts. It was and remains such a gift to us all!

  • Very interesting story !
