IT seems all you masculine gays just want to be considered masculine so that you and your so-called straight guy friends can do their typical homo-erotic male bonding that you masculine gays desperately want to be apart of! its always masculine men doing homo-erotic gay things when they are around their guy friends when nobody else is looking and effeminate gay guys seem to act straighter and not as HOMO-THIRSTY than ur average straight guy or masculine-undercover gay man in society!!!.
@Juswait4me I completely agree with that statement. I mean in my school every guy does these "gay acts" with themselves and then they call people like me "faggot"...I completely agree.
Chris Crocker is so right on!!!...MASCULINE GAYS are the worlds biggest hypocrites and PHONY AS HELL!!!...The fact that you as a man sexually desire and want to be intimate and have sex with a masculine acting man is CLEARLY NOT MASCULINE at all!!!..The desire for men is inherently the feminine aspect!!!.And the reason masculine-acting gayz can be convincing in acting masculine is really only for their protection. Feminine gays are often subject to the worst abuses and discrimination growing up!
Being a Homosexual has nothing to do with being Masculine or Feminine. It is more about your sexual preference and you feel more comfortable being romantic with. You are what you are and who you choose to sleep with is your inner desire and want.
I'm a "straight-acting" gay and I feel weird about living a "double life", but my straight guy friends mean a lot to me. I grew up in a rural town and I always had to "act" straight to have any friends.I have never hated on a fem guy, but I personally would prefer not to date them. But it's not like I'm gonna refuse to be around them or turn my nose up and act disgusted. And no, it isn't feminine gays who are the reason we are hated. Fear is. I respect fem guys.
Not all "straight-acting" gays hate feminine gays. It's not "acting" either. I have a deep voice and i guess I'm not 'flamboyant', but that's just who I am, and I'm not trying to hide myself. I'm out to the people I want to be out to, and I'm perfectly fine with fems and transsexuals.
The divide isn't as clear-cut as you're making out.
We an overtly Masculine society atm. Its a worry but whats more worrying is that there are so many gay profiles stating 'straight acting' masculine, bloke, mates etc' that they end up coming across really self conscious & generally self loathing. Its a self hatred that I'm really worried about & they project it onto 'fem' guys like me. I'm far too 'feminine' for most gay men however I'm super fit, strong, look after my self, confident & fashion forward...that sound feminine to you?
Its taken a long time for gay men to shake off the stereotype of femininity. There was a huge class distinction between gays and straight in the 1930s, meaning that no gay man could be thought of as masculine in any way. That's why gays fight so hard to rid themselves of the feminine stereotype.
its not that we hate you for being proud of who you are in my eyes at least its because you act like a woman and its a turn off
and you saying your stronger than any guy that seems like a guy or as you would say "straight" or "comouflaged" is only true to the fact that your brave acting like a woman but still it weak seeing as you would also probably get smacked around like one too
no not because you'r proud, because you are more different. And objectively that annoys and disgusts most people. And unfortunately it's something difficult to control.
If people don't like gays, in my experience, it's because they're uncomfortable with the extremely flamboyant ones. So when I, a masculine gay, am being judged simply by the word gay to those flamboyant standards, I get mad. And no I'm not a closet case, I'm out to everyone. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against any gay, I say all the power to you. Moreso, I get mad at society for being so retarded.
Hmm I think there are Feminine and Masculine gay guys. I mean I don't mean hate on the feminine ones, but to say masculine gay guys just are putting up a front to protect themselves, that might not be true. There are girly and butch lesbians. Lesbians who don't act butch, are not trying to fit in with the straight girls. You can like to put on makeup, and wear frilly things and be delicate, but still be attracted to the same sex. I mean it's all gender roles really.
im a masculine gay, and i think the reason feminine gays are blamed is because of ignorant conservative assholes, who are just afraid of whats diffrent, i bet most people that hate on gays only hate them because thier diffrent, i bet if every gay were masculine, more ppl would be fine with gays. not that i think that but thats just how people are and i dont think its going to change any time soon
@realme1231 but if you look at chris this month hes all masculine gay with the shaved hair clothes and is hardly a feminine gay to look at. Okay till he opens his mouth but whats that if not to fit in?
To all my fellow GAYS(Feminine or NOT): We are HATED by most STRAIGHT people in this world since the world full of STRAIGHT. Why should we not get along and be comfortable and help each other which we all happen to be GAY!? Now, I even feel like I'm not comfortable with my Gay community because of this SHIT of being FEMININE and BUTCHES.SAD! Shouldn't we be UNITED? We all like cocks and fight for the RIGHTS since most of STRAIGHT against us! It's discrimination and unfair.PEACE GAY WORLD! PLZ!
I think that there is a correlation between homosexuality and effeminacy, but not a perfect one. It also makes sense that people with non-mainstream sexuality are more inclined to accept non-mainstream gender roles. I am a typically masculine guy who is gay, and I admit that I once resented the effeminate types because I blamed them for the stereotypes. But now I realize that they just absorb more discrimination than I do, rather than provoking against me. So, peace and love to the queens!
There is also a dogma now that sexual preference and gender characteristics are completely separate and there is no reason for a man who likes men to be at all womanly in their personality; whereas the truth is probably that generally gay men statistically are more likely to have quite feminine personalities than straight ones are. If you read in Quentin Crisp's books about gay life in the 1920s/30s, the rare out gay men like him were invariably feminine.
In my opinion, the trend in recent history was that gay men wanted 1st and foremost to have it accepted that it was OK for men to have relationships with men and a kind of pact was made with mainstream society that as long as they seemed like normal men in every other way, what they did in private was up to them. That no doubt suits more masculine gay guys, but is restricting for the more naturally feminine ones.
do you knot whats brilliant, i dont care if Chris is wierd or a troll or wat ever, but notice in the first 2 seconds he has to change his voice to a more "feminine" tone... win :]
First off, I'm not a "masculine Acting" gay guy. I'm a gay GUY. I am a guy. You're implying, the whole time, that gay men who are masculine are putting on a front. No. We're not. And I think what urks us, is that WE don't think one's sexuality is something to be loud and proud about and open to the public. But the "back bone", which I have to contend is the minority in the community, of the community deems it necessary to throw their sexuality in others faces. (continue)
When I first came out to my family, my mother was dead set that I was going to become a rainbow flag carrying, "Here and queer get used to it" loud mouth fem. Because THAT IS ALL THE STRAIGHT COMMUNITY EVER SEES OF US. And those of us who AREN'T like you, get really irritated when we keep getting put into YOUR group, just because we chose not let our sexuality define who we are. Nice little rant, but you're seriously a tool, man.
Isn't that because the gay men who are masculine aren't "visible" because they are the same as all the other guys? I don't think it's the fault of the more feminine ones if they are more noticeable. As a British person, I would say the expectation has increasingly been in the last 20 years or so that gay men are not flamboyant or feminine. I think it is harder for the ones who are because they might be accused of being an outdated stereotype, when they are just being themselves
I would hav to agree with him (or her), coz i do have umm feminine gay friends and they're pretty okay. and i think that we should stop and think about the discrimination wihtin the LGBT community. its unfair for feminine gays hu are being "hated" coz they're feminine. i dont date feminine gays but i dont hate them.
We really do get a lot of shit from straight people but i'm proud of who I am, and I wouldn't change it for anything. Chris you really opened my eyes, you are very inspirational and amazing. Love for all...
There are gay men, that behave in a "straight" manner and its real. They aren't acting. Just because you are gay doesn't mean you always have to act feminine. Being homosexual, doesn't equate to how you act, it has to do with who you emotionally and sexually are attracted to. I'm a gay guy, but my mannerisms are mainly "straight" acting as people like to call it. I'm NOT acting, im just being me. And I dont have a problem with fem gay guys either. So just accept both sides of gays and move on.
Amusing how your denialism is effecting your most basic 'comprehension' of grammar. Or am i just mistaking that for inane stupidity? Probably both. Either way, it's cute.
@iwoof4u "I'll keep on repeating that cause obviously you don't like hearing it" - No no, i love hearing how deeply in denial you are, it's pathetically amusing. So please, you keep on telling yourself that. Maybe it will one day come true. Same way if i keep espousing that you posses any intelligence orrrr... goblins exist etc, it might just occur one day. Although, the former concept is highly unlikely.
@iwoof4u "Lol Yeah, yeah I'm in denial" - See, honesty is a good thing!
"And there are no masculine gay guys" - Awwww, your denial is so precious. 'Trying' your very best to make that a reality. Your warped persistence is as entertaining as ever, so please proceed. It's like witnessing Susan Boyle 'attempt' to 'swim' the Atlantic Ocean, but everyone knows she's going to drown within the first 2 minutes (or less), which renders the entire event so amusing & fulfilling to observe.
@iwoof4u "I still don't get how you got denial from that" - I'm not surprised. "Are you that stupid?" - Yes. So stupid, i don't deny the existence of masculinity in gay men. What an idiot right? "I personally find that cute myself." - Oh, you sure showed me! How sweet.
"And yes, there are no masculune gay guys, sorry." - *masculine. Lol, keep telling yourself that, pumpkin.
i just dont the fems in the gay community,,why is masculinity looked down upon in the gay male community...im a masculine type gay male..im from a latin community we are known for being macho and i grew up that way..i so happen to be gay but my being is still very masculine and that is looked down upon in the gay male community..i just down get it,if we arent dancing to techno or snapping our fingers and have lisp in our voice we are denying who we are ..its not true we arent all flamers..
chris, i Totally disagree with some of the comments on here, among those from @lagh and @marcsoyeah. like i replied to @lagh; jeez.
are people really watching this video with the impressing that chris is saying ALL MASCULINE GAY GUYS ARE FAKE or whatever??? like seriously, watch from 0:28 and on. he's not saying that they are all fake, but that SOME of them have said gays are beaten because of feminine gays like himself. OPEN YOUR EARS, PEOPLE!!!
wait that's not because of that. there are gay guys who ARE more masculine than they are feminine. they are JUST that. they are not trying to hide being gay O_o.
Gays like you are NOT the reason people get gay bashed. It is because straight people are unsure of homosexuals, and want to pick on them for being differant. It has nothing to do with who you are.
Whatever you are.... Straight, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual, Emo, Scene, Goth, Christian, Satanist, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist.... it's all because that's what you want to be and feel comfortable with and why should anyone not do that because someone else disagrees. The people who hate are all just jealous that they haven't found themselves yet! Those people aint people, they're media eating robotic dipshits.
You throw out a line about foolin around when you were 3.
That's gotta be a bit of a mistake. Kids ain't sexually aware until about 5 or 6.
Those of us who seem masculine ain't actin' it's who we are and you being you, I'd back you up and day of the week. There's no blame in this macho/femme thang.
We're just who we are. Being gay is hard enough without fallin' out with each other.
You, and people like you, are not the reason gays get beat up. That's bullshit.
I've been told that I can 'Pass' for straight. I never tried to and I love being round feminine gay people and transexuals. But then I ain't afraid of picking fights with bigoted straight guys. There is a sort of divide, I've seen it and it sucks.
You're right that the whole blame game sucks even more.
this is true I am a masculine gay and I do not like hanging with the very feminine gays but not because I am embarassed but because I have nothing in common with them like I went to the rainbow club at my school and it was just very sterotypical and I rather go watch the Bears game. Ya most of my friends are straight but I am a man and i act like one I am being who I am I just get along with straights and masculine gays better.
this is true I am a masculine gay and I do not like hanging with the very feminine gays but not because I am embarassed but because I have nothing in common with them like I went to the rainbow club at my school and it was just very sterotypical and I rather go watch the Bears game. It pisses me off so bad. I just prefer to ride by maself, as i have all my life since bein little anyways. til we fkn decide ok lets all get along now cuz nothin is really happening, were all cryin out 4 equal rights when were not even workin together 2 make it happen. we girly gay guys take so much shit in sometimes i feel were on the top with stronger souls. we're braver then str8 men, n fiercer than women. so that makes me happy:) i thank ppl who put me down cuz i came back up 10x higher.
Im also very flamboyant and proud and happy. dont give a fuck what ppl gotta say. One thing that does bother me when my own ppl from my community say ok relax u dont gotta b doing all that extra shaking and flippin n what not, that were fkn exaggerating being gay so im like ok wtf? ur gay were all gay wether we look more fem or str8 we should just get along. like me i dont feel i fit in the str8 community obviously n now i cant feel comfortable in ma own community whouth being talked shit to,
You have a point when you say that masculine gay men don't want to hang with flamers -- but the hatred and fear extends beyond being merely outed. Gay men put up with stereotypes: weakness, impotency, bitchiness, failure of masculinity. Then the gay who has never felt compelled to adopt effeminate mannerisms (speech, dress, posture) meets a flamer, and he's like, "Oh, so this psychologically disturbed overzealous affected female impersonator is the reason I can't be seen as normal by society."
I think feminine gays get beaten up cause they look a bit they women, but not so much people can't tell them apart from women. Men find this disturbing, because they want to keep their idea of separate genders. Personally, I think terms like bi/gay/straight are very unnecessary. They just keep classifying people.
YOU BETTTA WORK FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT BEFORE WE SHOULD ASK FOR ACCEPTANCE FROM THE STR8 COMMUNITY WE NEED ACCEPTANCE WITHIN OURSELVES
i hateeeeeeee mascline gays. at they end of the day they bendvoer just like the flamers. point period!, they just hide there homo-ness cuz there ashamed. very sad! oh and they also are masculine beacuse they wanna look attractive for other gays so they can get cock. alot of them even lie and say there bisexual just to look hotter to other gays as if there somewt straight but its a lie. if u look at there myspace they say there bi but they have like 300 dudes and 1 girl on their friends list lol.
@stefanybody your wrong we are just being who we are just because we dont fall into a sterotype of what a gay man should be doesnt mean we are embarassed to be around the fem ones. I went to the rainbow club at my school and id much rather watch the Bears game they dont like that so I have less in common with them than the fems
Some masculine gay guys feel threatened by feminine ones because they feel theyll be outed if they associate with them...and i think other masculine gay guys are annoyed that guys who they could potentially find attractive are acting feminine, which is something they dont find attractive...thats what ive come across anyway. They need to realise most of the time there is no "acting" feminine...its just personality which you can't control.
@Brouse12 i hear that, im in the same boat. i feel like ive lied to my previous life where i acted more masculine than i wanted to be (to hide being gay, of course) now that im out, i can act the way i want, but all my childhood friends know me for being masculine
Personally, I'm a masculine or, sometimes, an "ambiguously straight" acting gay if you will. I have no problem telling people I'm gay if they ask nor do I think it shameful. I prefer masculine men simply because we click better for this reason, but I have to say on behalf of A LOT of straight acting gays: A LOT of us don't give a fuck about what society thinks either ;-)
@austinlovesasians He feels the need to defend himself because feminine gays are constantly being attacked by guys who think they should change so they appear more heterosexual. He said in the video "I shouldn't even have to say this" or something like that, who wants to hear guys going on about how much they hate you because you're feminine.
I think the term straight acting is confusing because homophobic men (and women) want all guys to be masculine because that makes them more comfortable so that's like a sterotype of men. I think if you are that naturally masculine then it's natural same as if you are naturally feminine. If you're not acting then you're not acting and people shouldn't assume you are, maybe people get acting when someone is putting on an act mixed up with the way someone acts.
This video i totally relate to, as a gay male who is feminine it is so difficult to walk down the street without getting negative attention and as you said why should you have to fucking change your self just to make other people's lives more easier fuck then and the horse they rided on !!! you really are a inspiration and yes us feminine guy's we are the back bone of the gay comunity because were not affraid to be who we are and take shit for it xx
@kfag101 so everything that isn't definded as "masculine" is a disgrace? Woah, many thanks from a human being that is defined as a 'woman', a**hole!^^ I'd like to call that heterofacist. Why does nearly everybody divide certain human rights by gender-dogma? What's defined as "female" is not supposed to be "male" and vice versa, genders, only 2 of them, and the 2 defined as "opposites". What's wrong with people? It's like collective, repressive psychopathy or something.Creepy&deeply bigoted :(
In NYC masculine and femmy gayz are cool wit each otha... i am sumwut masculine but femmy as well in equal amounts maybe a lil more femmy.. im very out but i feel that i have sum problems wit alot of flamboyant gayz cuz sum of them tend to be very concieted and its like ehhh... which really kinda makes me madd.. when us gayz shud really be gettin along but thats the way life is anywayz
I have nothing against gays or homosexuality, but I don't understand why some gays think they have to act feminine just because they gay. Just because you a gay man, doesn't mean you automatically turn into a girl, you still a dude. I think most of dem just act feminine to fit a stereotype, only adding to da stereotype.
@jtkalehua no it's not like that at all. Feminine gay guys are naturally feminine, I know from how I used to be, I wasn't acting at all. The stereotype is because people think all gay guys are feminine, that comes from straights being ignorant. That's the stereotype that gay guys are all feminine, it's only a stereotype because of where it is applied where it's not true, that doesn't mean that anyone who is feminine is automatically a stereotype. A stereotype is a stereotype not a person.
Have u thought that us "masculine gays" are ACTUALLY masculine? U dont see all straight guys getting along. Why do all gays have to along? I'm gay and I'm masculine. I just get along better with guys that act like guys. Us masculine gays have it hard too u know... I think the real issue here is the stereotypes that all gays are flamboyant. We should work together to show ppl that just cuz were gay, were still the same ppl. I'm gay and I like to play sports, work on my car etc.
@original503 I think the real issue is the sterotype to have images of what actually is behaving "like a guy" or "like a woman".Don't you see that this doesn't only limit &repress 'heterosexuals' but is also responsible for homophobia? The same like you feel uncomfortable with some man who doesn't behave like "a real man should" is the pattern why homosexuals or other "deviants" who don't "fit in" are discriminated &devalued in general, to make everybody behave like they "should", sterotypical?
What the masculine gays say is sort of true. A lot of the flaming gay guys act like they have mental illness. Why do feminine gays act feminine? For attention? You have to ask yourself those questions.
@jlenoconel Why do masculine gays act masculine, because they are too scared to act feminine if they wanted to so they don't get a choice but feminine gay guys can act masculine if they want to.
@jlenoconel I'm not changing my view of sexuality to your view of sexuality just because you don't like my view of sexuality. I'm not that easily moulded.
@jlenoconel hes not acting like a female you flamer on the closet. chris is effemiante, its the way people are born beacuse of their hormone levels and there is nothing wrong with it! you just dont like effeminate guys beacuse they remind you of girls and you dont like anything fem cuz your such a fag that you only wanna see guys looking a manly way so that your gay dick can get hard, fact! and your in the closet cuz u dont have balls like these flamers to be yourself , another fact!
I love all my fellow gays! I think you are talking about gender more than sexual preference in this video. Imo, throughout the world, to be a woman is frowned upon. Women are seen as weak and emotional, etc. So when society generally has this distaste for seeing women as an equal to a man, and they see a man who acts feminine, something goes off in their brains that says "WTF". I'm not saying I get it, but I can see it being confusing if that's how people are brought up.
This sounds like an issue with gender expression, not sexual preference. It's the 'not fitting in' that gets people shit on, not necessarily the 'gay' part.
I'm glad to see this addressed in a video. Thanks =)
@CodyOriole people try to make them the same thing when they say gay automatically means you are feminine. Nobody is pressuring masculine guys to act feminine though.
I can understand both sides. yes, the feminine acting gays are the reason for gay bashing. and it is because you are proud of yourself and youre not ashamed of yourself. but thats only because people are scared of things which they do not know. now, i'm not saying to change that. no no, continue being proud. and that is the reason why the masculine gays are afraid to come out. but they need to grow a pair, and come out already. its ridiculous to hide yourself because of anyone else.
I would call myself more on the masculine spectrum, although my girlfriends have called me femmy at times. Honestly, I don't understand the femmy hate. I think the feminine gays are so much cuter than the mascies. I've noticed a trend of bear + twink/flamer often in relationships. Seriously though, I completely agree Chris. If we want to stay strong, we shouldn't hate EACH OTHER!
rofl! yeh some gay guys dont mind being manly its just them. and those metrosexual gay dudes are just as easy to pick out for the bashing. thats not masculine at all. at all. so those bitches really aint got shit to say to a queen.
The things you say certainly do exist. But I want to point out that this isn't exclusively a gay issue. Labeling and prejudice are human nature. There are straight women who prefer assholes over sensitive guys, there are straight guys who prefer tomboys over princesses, and vice versa, it's just the way our society lumps certain characteristics together. It's still not right to be agressive torward those who don't agree with you but labeling is not something that's going to disappear.
Well... I dont think all masculine guys are acting. Some of them are really like that because thats what they are, thats what they like to be. However I agree on the fact that some of them want to fit into straight society, because thats where they can get appreciation. What I HATE, when these people start to point to feminine gays as the cause of others' struggles, thats the point they are just like the Prop8 morons...
Yeah because being masculine means you're acting. I've been called weak and fake by feminine guys who think they're hot shit because of retards like you. You put up countless videos about being ourselves well guess what, that's who I am. I'm no actor.
your wrong on so many levels, you are so ignorant and you are just talking out of your ass and making no valid points at all...I'm a masculine gay man and i am completely open in all aspects of my life. I have come out to my conservative christian family (my dad is a pastor), at work and to all friends and anyone who would ever ask. I am 100% open that my boyfriend is 16 years older than me, and i am proud to be a skinny guy dating a big bear :D so dont go thinking youve got it sooo rough......
Ignorant idiot! Masculine gays don't "act" masculine to hide their gayness they are like that because that is who they are. Like you said, you act feminine because that's who you are have you ever thought that the masculine gays are ACTUALLY masculine and don't just act it as a mask? Jesus christ...
@lagh i completely agree , i look masculine but can be fem at sometimes ..but Chris is really igrnorant and hypocritical in this video ,
just because Masculine are Masculine !! .doesnt mean they arent proud of who they are ...there is people like Chris out there who think every gay men has to be " Feminie " to prove that their proud and i think thats b.s
@lagh is that the impression you got from watching this video, that that's his message? cuz that's not anywhere near my interpretation of it. you say he's accusing the masculine guys for acting. from what i understand, he's talking about those who discriminate within the gay community. he said gay guys that are out to the gays but Not to the straight ppl say ppl like him is the reason others get beaten for being gay. it's a statement about certain gays. not all masculine gays. jeez..
@julieee1992 he mentions "masculine ACTING" and also mentions "because feminine gays can't hide who we are we don't have a choice to walk around and camouflage who we are" what does that imply? 21 other people agree with me and can obviously understand very clearly what he is saying but you seem to interpret this video differently to everyone else
@lagh it's possible that my interpretation is different than you and 21 other people, but i personally don't think he's saying that ALL masculine gays are acting, and the sentence "feminine gays can't hide who we are we don't have a choice to walk around and camouflage who we are" most likely doesn't mean that he things it applies to EVERYBODY. like i said earlier, i get the feeling that he's talking About someone without mentioning them directly, Not masculine gays in general.
@lagh I agree. One objection though, is you asserted: "Like you said, you act feminine".
I'm sure this was just a misprint, but regardless, not *all* masculine straight-'acting' gay guys are 'acting', and conversely, the feminine gay guys aren't 'acting' either. They just are. However, are homosexual individuals who do actually 'act' gay out of fear of rejection, stereotypes, etc. Although it's understandable why they would do this, they're essentially not being true to themselves.
@Futuristic07 Correction: "However, **there** are homosexual".
Also, rather ironically, there exists homosexual individuals who do 'play up' to the feminine stereotype too.
Maybe it's attention whoring, maybe it's because they're unhappy with their personality, maybe it's because they perceive effeminacy to be attractive, maybe it's because they just enjoy emulating that quality, etc.
lol "i fooled around with a guy when i was three" rofl omg ily chris ur so right! and btw i saw the lurkers vid and im not a lurker any more :) yay! lmfao

That's why gays fight so hard to rid themselves of the feminine stereotype.

its not that we hate you for being proud of who you are in my eyes at least its because you act like a woman and its a turn off
and you saying your stronger than any guy that seems like a guy or as you would say "straight" or "comouflaged" is only true to the fact that your brave acting like a woman but still it weak seeing as you would also probably get smacked around like one too
btw your cuter as a guy than a hysterical drag

So, peace and love to the queens!
gabaribo 9 months ago
There is also a dogma now that sexual preference and gender characteristics are completely separate and there is no reason for a man who likes men to be at all womanly in their personality; whereas the truth is probably that generally gay men statistically are more likely to have quite feminine personalities than straight ones are. If you read in Quentin Crisp's books about gay life in the 1920s/30s, the rare out gay men like him were invariably feminine.
orlando098 9 months ago
In my opinion, the trend in recent history was that gay men wanted 1st and foremost to have it accepted that it was OK for men to have relationships with men and a kind of pact was made with mainstream society that as long as they seemed like normal men in every other way, what they did in private was up to them. That no doubt suits more masculine gay guys, but is restricting for the more naturally feminine ones.

(continue)
89crazycanuck 10 months ago
When I first came out to my family, my mother was dead set that I was going to become a rainbow flag carrying, "Here and queer get used to it" loud mouth fem. Because THAT IS ALL THE STRAIGHT COMMUNITY EVER SEES OF US. And those of us who AREN'T like you, get really irritated when we keep getting put into YOUR group, just because we chose not let our sexuality define who we are. Nice little rant, but you're seriously a tool, man.
89crazycanuck 10 months ago
@89crazycanuck
I think it is harder for the ones who are because they might be accused of being an outdated stereotype, when they are just being themselves
orlando098 9 months ago
I would hav to agree with him (or her), coz i do have umm feminine gay friends and they're pretty okay. and i think that we should stop and think about the discrimination wihtin the LGBT community. its unfair for feminine gays hu are being "hated" coz they're feminine. i dont date feminine gays but i dont hate them.

So just accept both sides of gays and move on.

jorgiiLovesit 1 year ago
You have a point when you say that masculine gay men don't want to hang with flamers -- but the hatred and fear extends beyond being merely outed. Gay men put up with stereotypes: weakness, impotency, bitchiness, failure of masculinity. Then the gay who has never felt compelled to adopt effeminate mannerisms (speech, dress, posture) meets a flamer, and he's like, "Oh, so this psychologically disturbed overzealous affected female impersonator is the reason I can't be seen as normal by society."
korix2000 1 year ago
I think feminine gays get beaten up cause they look a bit they women, but not so much people can't tell them apart from women. Men find this disturbing, because they want to keep their idea of separate genders. Personally, I think terms like bi/gay/straight are very unnecessary. They just keep classifying people.

@austinlovesasians He feels the need to defend himself because feminine gays are constantly being attacked by guys who think they should change so they appear more heterosexual. He said in the video "I shouldn't even have to say this" or something like that, who wants to hear guys going on about how much they hate you because you're feminine.
Haydenbrooks83 1 year ago
I think the term straight acting is confusing because homophobic men (and women) want all guys to be masculine because that makes them more comfortable so that's like a sterotype of men. I think if you are that naturally masculine then it's natural same as if you are naturally feminine. If you're not acting then you're not acting and people shouldn't assume you are, maybe people get acting when someone is putting on an act mixed up with the way someone acts.
Haydenbrooks83 1 year ago

I have nothing against gays or homosexuality, but I don't understand why some gays think they have to act feminine just because they gay. Just because you a gay man, doesn't mean you automatically turn into a girl, you still a dude. I think most of dem just act feminine to fit a stereotype, only adding to da stereotype.
jtkalehua 1 year ago
@jtkalehua no it's not like that at all. Feminine gay guys are naturally feminine, I know from how I used to be, I wasn't acting at all. The stereotype is because people think all gay guys are feminine, that comes from straights being ignorant. That's the stereotype that gay guys are all feminine, it's only a stereotype because of where it is applied where it's not true, that doesn't mean that anyone who is feminine is automatically a stereotype. A stereotype is a stereotype not a person.
Haydenbrooks83 1 year ago
Have u thought that us "masculine gays" are ACTUALLY masculine? U dont see all straight guys getting along. Why do all gays have to along? I'm gay and I'm masculine. I just get along better with guys that act like guys. Us masculine gays have it hard too u know... I think the real issue here is the stereotypes that all gays are flamboyant. We should work together to show ppl that just cuz were gay, were still the same ppl. I'm gay and I like to play sports, work on my car etc.
original503 1 year ago
@original503 I think the real issue is the sterotype to have images of what actually is behaving "like a guy" or "like a woman".Don't you see that this doesn't only limit &repress 'heterosexuals' but is also responsible for homophobia? The same like you feel uncomfortable with some man who doesn't behave like "a real man should" is the pattern why homosexuals or other "deviants" who don't "fit in" are discriminated &devalued in general, to make everybody behave like they "should", sterotypical?
RonjaRoevardotter 1 year ago
What the masculine gays say is sort of true. A lot of the flaming gay guys act like they have mental illness. Why do feminine gays act feminine? For attention? You have to ask yourself those questions.

@CodyOriole people try to make them the same thing when they say gay automatically means you are feminine. Nobody is pressuring masculine guys to act feminine though.
Haydenbrooks83 1 year ago
I can understand both sides. yes, the feminine acting gays are the reason for gay bashing. and it is because you are proud of yourself and youre not ashamed of yourself. but thats only because people are scared of things which they do not know. now, i'm not saying to change that. no no, continue being proud. and that is the reason why the masculine gays are afraid to come out. but they need to grow a pair, and come out already. its ridiculous to hide yourself because of anyone else.

I think the feminine gays are so much cuter than the mascies. I've noticed a trend of bear + twink/flamer often in relationships. Seriously though, I completely agree Chris. If we want to stay strong, we shouldn't hate EACH OTHER!

But I know REALLY masculine gays that are totally out
chocolateluver117 1 year ago

You go girl I love you!
dumezich 1 year ago

I'm masculine gay and hell, I catch hell for it too. I've been bashed, etc.
I am who I am. I've no prob with fem guys, just those who use it as a mask. I'm out and proud, I lift weights in a shirt that says "Hard Gay". ;3
And agreed, it shouldn't matter yeah? We're all gay, all in the same fight, etc.

Ignorant idiot! Masculine gays don't "act" masculine to hide their gayness they are like that because that is who they are. Like you said, you act feminine because that's who you are have you ever thought that the masculine gays are ACTUALLY masculine and don't just act it as a mask? Jesus christ...

@lagh right dude just because im gay doesnt mean I have to fall into the the gay sterotype
289235 1 year ago 18
@lagh i completely agree , i look masculine but can be fem at sometimes ..but Chris is really igrnorant and hypocritical in this video ,
just because Masculine are Masculine !! .doesnt mean they arent proud of who they are ...there is people like Chris out there who think every gay men has to be " Feminie " to prove that their proud and i think thats b.s
marcsoyeah 1 year ago
@lagh is that the impression you got from watching this video, that that's his message? cuz that's not anywhere near my interpretation of it. you say he's accusing the masculine guys for acting. from what i understand, he's talking about those who discriminate within the gay community. he said gay guys that are out to the gays but Not to the straight ppl say ppl like him is the reason others get beaten for being gay. it's a statement about certain gays. not all masculine gays. jeez..
julieee1992 1 year ago
@julieee1992 he mentions "masculine ACTING" and also mentions "because feminine gays can't hide who we are we don't have a choice to walk around and camouflage who we are" what does that imply? 21 other people agree with me and can obviously understand very clearly what he is saying but you seem to interpret this video differently to everyone else
lagh 1 year ago
@lagh it's possible that my interpretation is different than you and 21 other people, but i personally don't think he's saying that ALL masculine gays are acting, and the sentence "feminine gays can't hide who we are we don't have a choice to walk around and camouflage who we are" most likely doesn't mean that he things it applies to EVERYBODY. like i said earlier, i get the feeling that he's talking About someone without mentioning them directly, Not masculine gays in general.
julieee1992 1 year ago
@julieee1992 Exactly. He espouses at 0:19 - 0:21 ; "Not all, i'm not generalizing".

Futuristic07 1 year ago
@Futuristic07 Correction: "However, **there** are homosexual".
Also, rather ironically, there exists homosexual individuals who do 'play up' to the feminine stereotype too.
Maybe it's attention whoring, maybe it's because they're unhappy with their personality, maybe it's because they perceive effeminacy to be attractive, maybe it's because they just enjoy emulating that quality, etc.
