Well two years after the original posting of this video and we are still seeing the same behavior. Its a sad fact that our rights diminish as time goes on. Even sadder that there are thoae that believe they need a nanny state to tell them what when and how they can live.
This is the kind of shit you see in some bleak futuristic drama about the rule of an Orwellian regime bent on the control of it's people. Wake the hell up America, things are not gold and glitter anymore, the posh American lifestyle of the 50's is gone and it is now 1984. I identify with the peaceful revolutionaries of the world as I am an idealist but eventually the truth must be faced... This is heading in the direction of an all out revolt of the now dead middle class. Expect us, always!
Wearechange=Wearepussies: You want to make a difference? Arm yourselves and stand your ground. The only way to combat violence is more violence. Your words don't mean shit to these guys.. all they want to do is bust skulls.
@Enderschoice So what if they were? Cars would have to go a block around them. There is no excuse for the cops telling people where they can and cannot have a free, peaceful assembly.
@stperkin If the protesters haven't cleared the spot and it's inhibiting traffic, then the police have a case. If the protesters do those things, then they'll probably be left alone.
@Enderschoice That's absurd. That's not at all how things work. As if cops shut down traffic simply because its blocking traffic. It's far more insidious than that. If that was their excuse (which they don't even usually give an excuse for violently dispersing peaceful gatherings) inconveniencing a few drivers for a bit is NOT a sufficient excuse for curtailing our most cherished principles of freedom.
@stperkin If they are inhibiting commerce and normal activity, then the police have to rectify the situation. It's easy to put a video up with the title "So and so confronts tyranny" but one can't really know the full story. All I'm saying is, consider both sides.
Retarded video. Guess what morons, If you don't have a permit to protest and march down a freaking PUBLIC street, the police WILL get you out of there. I can't believe someone would have the balls to not get a permit and then when the police try and disperse their unlawful assembly call it police brutality/Nazism. Sit down and talk with someone who actually lived through the Nazi oppression and then see if your petty grievances carry any weight.
@Vandriel Why should Americans need to ask for a permit to exercise their first amendment rights of peaceful assembly. The crowd was clearly peaceful, and did not seem to to be disrupting too much of anything. Should we arrest people, or beat people? Even if some cars have to go around the block to avoid the gathering?
@stperkin The Issue is the fact that AFAIK in almost every city you MUST have a permit to hold a protest on Public land. Let me make that absolutely clear PUBLIC meaning the City owns it, and has a say in what happens there. No permit for what you had planned there Guess what? YOU DONT GET TO DO IT. How hard is this to comprehend Yes you have the right to peaceful assembly IF the City says you can on their road read: GET A DAMN PERMIT IF YOU WANT TO PROTEST
@jthompson323241 Maybe you should read your the laws of your state/city ordinances. Can you imagine the chaos if any joe blow with a cause could have his and his friends walk down a public road and block traffic? We live in this country by the rule of law, if you have a problem with it take it up with your legislature. Even state fairs or Carnivals/whatever have to get approval to occupy the streets. Also good job on invoking Godwin's Law.
@jthompson323241 Also, you must understand that yes you have the right to assembly. But you must understand that if the people who own the property you are assembling on says you can't be there, then you can't be there. And the people who own the roads are the city/state.
@Vandriel I have no need to read the state laws as state constitutions are inferior (in a legal sense) to the United States Constitution. as for the city and state owning the roads........ who the hell do you think owns the city/state? THE PEOPLE. Do your own studies and quit using other peoples tired Godwins law crap to make your obsequious and ever enduring love of this increasing police state we call land of the free righteous. As for blocking traffic a small price to pay for freedom. IMO
@Vandriel Think of the implications of a permit to peacefully assemble though - it means that the government, which one is protesting against, has to vet and therefore implicitly agree with the protest. The whole idea of having to get a permit to peacefully protest goes directly against the idea of getting one's voice heard when there are not valid channels to do it otherwise.
I don't know enough about what was happening before the video started. If these people were blocking access to the area, then yes, the police should be able to move the people. If they were all out of the way and the police were trying to move an assembly which was not blocking the area then this is indeed wrong.
I think the point is that the people we pay to protect the public are perfectly fine with using weapons and violence against an unarmed group of citizens...
big fucking deal if they're blocking the street, i don't see any looting or killing or guns or smashing in windows. They have the right to be there if a car comes it's not like they can't get out of the fucking street, what's a parade? this is not a violent protest it is a peaceful protest. There is no need for these thugs (cops) to have riot shields and clubs against unarmed civilians who are simply using a constitutional right idk thats my opinion but fuck what this worlds coming to.
@reeseman60 OF course if thousands of people protested outside my house I would consider a big fucking deal and I would expect the Cop to remove them.
Here is the thing. You do indeed have a right to peaceful assembly. However, your IN THE FREAKING ROAD. The right says you have the right to assemble, not the right to block traffic. Yes, the police used intimidation tactics. The 'assemblers' were doing the same thing. In all honesty, had they not been in the street there would not have been an issue. Gotta love how they leave out the part of the video where the police showed up, and just start it where they have come out in riot gear.
Keep it up, cops. Keep exposing yourselves as thugs. Do you think that will make you safe? Do you think your uniform and badges are going to protect you?
Luke is a nice guy. Keep it up and you will unleash some real monsters.
if the cops want to violate the constitution and use violence against the people, the people need to fight back. even a peace officer presenting a court issued warrant can be met with DEADLY FORCE, if they use excessive force first. people in other countries dont let the cops push them around like we do in the US, and they dont have the laws we do protecting us from tyranny.. we need to grow some balls and draw a line in the sand we will fight to defend.
@The4LA2Baker0 lol the fire a bit of tear gas and move people on and all of a suddened you call cry police brutailty. American dont know what police bruatialy is.
They are violating our "inalienable rights". by violating the constitution they are enemies of the U.S.(PERIOD). I will defend my rights, as our founding fathers did.
Foreign people(like you) must not understand these self evident truths. wake up you tool. you might be OK with being oppressed, but i am NOT.
Go spout your fascist bullshit somewhere else, because i am done with your sorry ass.
@The4LA2Baker0 lol by defend you rights you mean yelling and chanting a few slogans and the eventually running off / or screaming police bruatilly went the police that action.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
What part of "Congress shall make no law..." do they not understand?
@USConstitutionVote, People are right and they quote the 1st Amendment very well, but what does the 10th Amendment say? In laymans terms, it says that anything not specifically mentioned in the constitution it reserved to the individual states to determine. The Constitution does not legally define what is and is not a Peaceful Assembly, so the right is Constitutionally Reserved to the individual States to determine. It is a no win situation, because which Amendment is more Right?
@USConstitutionVote Yes people have the right to assemble peaceably, but when you do it on Public property on a DAMN road. And do NOT get a permit for being there it is against the L A W.
