Hope someone could help me out I have that same winding noise but it's on a 04 Pontiac grand prix with about 84k miles u can't hear it when it stopped but the faster I go the louder the sound
I have a 2007 F150 truck that is doing this same thing! After watching this video I went to a Ford dealership and just got them to check it and see what it could be. Only finding out that the noise is in the transmission and it has to go into the shop in a few days. I told them that I found it on youtube.com and they were not surprised. So thanks for posting this video! So it's a bad bearing ... right?
@LOBOFORD3 Yep. I have a 2007 Ford F-150, Lariat, 5.4L that makes that noise when I start off. It's just in the transmission. The little gear pump that pumps the tranny fluid I believe is what's making that noise.
Does the noise sound deeper in the cab like a howling? and do you have stock tires? I just put bigger tires on about a month ago and im getting more like a howl from the same area that coincides with my acelleration and decelleration
I also noticed the noise (a howl, similar to the wind noise, that audible at the beginning of acceleration). I am not sure if this noise has something to do with the drive shaft (or FWD axles) wobble.
@mkrp4 That little "howl" noise you're talking about at the beginning of acceleration I believe is the oil pump bearings speeding up in the transmission as the truck takes off.
Oh great, I have a 97 dodge ram 1500 and couldnt figure out where that noise was coming. I thought it was the wheel bearing so I replaced them and still that whining, I hope my tranny doesnt break.
Yes, it was a bad bearing in the transmission. The shop started with replacing the Torque Converter but that didn't solve it. So, they opened up the tranny and there it was. $2200 later, it now runs clean and quite.
was it the bearing in your yoke where the camera is facing? cause i have a 1998 F150 and i have the same exact problem she whines when i get to 15 and stops when i get around 50 or so. im just wonderin cause i dont have the cash to take her to the shop and i can fix her myself as long as its not deep in the tranny
Unfortunately, no, the bearing was in the transmission. While it cost me $2200 to fix my problem, that partially because we started with the torque converter. If we had started with the tranny, it probably would have cost $500 less or so. Sorry to hear you have the same symptoms. Please do let us know how this works out.
same issue here... hoping its covered by the 5 year 100000km powertrain warranty.
