@jrd151962 They have the same core beliefs as any other Christian sect. They are not "it" but neither is anybody else. I am not religious, but I was born and raised in Idaho, and have been around Mormons my entire life. There are a lot of misconceptions and ridiculous comments about them.
@ensignrussell when you come to idaho falls u need to go see dora ericson. its on cleavlend. if theres a bond when u come up vote yes. y because the heater hardly works. and in the winter part of the power goes off alot.
man i remember living in Idaho when i was a kid...the pepople there are really nice....but this year i went to vsit n some ppl were puttuing the middle finger in the air n i was thinking wadafuk....but i found out they dont like ppl from cali???
To all those who think that the LDS community in Idaho Falls is oppressive, part of life is coexisting with different people. Just because someone has a different belief system doesn't mean that they are oppressing you. And just because elected leaders share a certain faith doesn't mean they are conspiring to create a theocracy. This town has no shortage of bars, coffee shops, tobacco depots, or places to rent porn. So grow up, take some responsibility for your own lives, and quit whining!
@spudmustang The LDS community in Idaho Falls is just like any other religious community in their promotion of misogyny, bigotry and irrationality. But in a town where 85% of the population has the same imaginary friend, that force becomes excessively divisive. Anyone who stands on the outside of religion can see that the mormons in Idaho Falls ARE oppresive. And the fact that there are bars, coffee shops, tobacco shops, and porn stores only shows that capitolism trumps religious views.
@neckbreakerb The minority always feels oppressed and ignored. That's democracy. A Mormon living in a town where 85% of the people are atheists could also claim to be oppressed. That's why capitalism is so wonderful. Everyone is allowed to live, do, and think as they choose regardless of what the majority believes. But that doesn't mean that Mormons are oppressive. If you have specific examples, I would love to hear them. From what I see, though, Mormons take much more animosity than they give.
@neckbreakerb I live in Idaho Falls, am not religious, and I see none of this oppression from the Mormons that you claim. I wish they'd stop knocking on my door though.
For some reason your camera makes the Falls look a little out of context. They are really not that big in person. Other then that all I can say is it is a nice place to visit but not live. Mormans run the city into the ground. But oh well glad I left and only have to visit to see family.
Why do I watch this when I could get on my bike for 5 minutes and see the real thing? Nice place to live. I've seen a lot of tour groups stop off there at the falls.
Who in the world are to to judge on rather people go to hell or not I desi[pise people like you you pretend to be theLord Jesus Himself and you are not. You are a anti christ no doubt.
classic "christian" comment. everyones going to hell but me cause i said Jesus save me. insanity . jesus said love your neighbor not damn them. Jesus said hes the judge not you. p.s. who are you to say that lds dont accept Jesus as thier savior? biggot
In history class, we learned that originally there weren't any "falls" in idaho falls, there were some rapids, and some city slickers from Boston decided to call them falls. The falls that are there now are a man-made hydroelectric dam that has been somewhat nature-scaped. And I think idaho Falls used to be called Eagle Rock and Taylor Bridge
I wouldn't take the bait either because you would'nt get anywhere; fact is, I was not in the wrong in complementing the beauty above. I do forgive you for taking a jab at me and I hope you can forgive me if I have offended you.
To see beauty such as this, right in the middle of a city is extraordinary and uncommon. I absolutely love it ! I would love walking out my door into this! I do hope you have a good day and see the beauty which does surround you there where you live.. it is grand!
Yes I did focus exclusively on the falls, because, as the title of my video is called "Why they call my town Idaho Falls. It is due to these falls that the earlier town "Eagle Rock," was changed to the current name "Idaho Falls." No reasons for anyone to get riled up here folks, I was just showing why my town is called what it is called.
Oh no, I was not offended, I was just a little taken back, that you would take the effort to send me an email just to tell me who wrong I was in thinking a portion of the falls reminded me of a place I saw in alaska. I certainly was not offended, but the relentless obstinatance on here wearies at times.
Nothing is like Alaska! GRIN! And it is not farmer's fields as far as you can see. Looking out over the desert, I can see the Lemhi Mountains just 60 miles on the other side of the valley. Looking east just a mere 15 miles and you get Taylor Mountain and foothills, and a mere 15 miles further you run into the mountains running into Jackson Hole. But I do note, it isn't like Alaska.
No, no salmon, but there are sturgeon, those they are 100 miles down stream from here. There are however, some very good whopping trout in these waters.
were you there during the teton dam breaking? If I remember right the falls got enough junk stuck in it that it caused a temporary dam and flooded the area?
It is the tmeple, and yes I was here when the Teton Dam broke, and I was right here sand baggin like crazy for 49 straight hours. Ah the glories of youth and endurance.
You were here also?! How FUN! Well...... I mean that night and next day wasn't any fun, without question. Oh the cleanup missions to Rexburg were days never to be forgotten. What a marvelous thing it was getting to know our neighbors to the north and mkaing eternal friends everywhere.
LIved ther for almost a year when I was 11, went to Wes tSide Elementary!

I'm sorry you didn't find anything special in the beauty of Idaho falls, but I did.
I also liked seeing the temple in the back drop.
I'm sorry it annoyed you so much that I expressed it, and that it didn't meet up to your standards, but the beauty far exceeded my standards...
