No offense, I hope, but that Holden body strongly resembles the USA '66-'67 Mercury Comet models, and its grille looks similar to the Ford Falcons of that era, which had many parts common with the Comets back in the day.
But their stock 289 cubic inch V-8s (about 4.7L) never could have made them do what THIS car does, especially for that long a time!
The Holden EK is pretty much like a baby 57 Chevy, so I guess Aussie just made minitures of American muscle cars..lol Ive grown up around V8's and Ive owned a few, and there is just something about brute horsepower and loud exhausts that get going everytime.
@jkw733 okay no the only car that it is slightly similar is the valiant where the hell did you get comet? ..........and a 57 chevy really oh wait sorry i didnt see the huge fins on the end of it my mistake
@jeremiahskates if you would check out the pictures of the 1966 and 1967 Mercury Comet 4-door sedans, you should see very clearly that their doors, body sty;re from the sides, and taillights, and rear end styling are nearly identical to this Holden, the grille and headlights are very close to the late '60s Ford Falcons OR the '65 Valiants. THIS is where I noticed the strong comparisons; are YOU familiar with those models which I mentioned?
@jkw733 Great eye there Jim and you are exactly correct. The rear looks like a 67 Mercury Comet Cyclone and the front end looks like a 68 Ford Falcon XT Zephyr. This is especially interesting since Holden was owned by GM.
Our small town Ford dealer had a strip down Comet 202 in the show room with dog dished hub caps, bench seats, etc. Looked like a Gradmother's car. But it had a 427 with dual Rochester 4 barrels and 14 inch whitewall tires.
Thanks for the correction, I haven't seen a write-up on this car on a mag yet or a photo of the engine. Chack out that site and you'll see what it says. So I went off that
