cavity fillings are not as bad as you may think, I honestly hate shots sooooo much. but really thats the only thing you have to worry about. the drilling stuff, you don't feel it as long as they give you the shot. the shot doesnt hurt too much as well. just endure it for like 4 seconds and your good. really i sit there and just go "screw it lets get this over with" then they give me the shot, i complain a little and then i say to myself " really that's all i was moaning about"... it doesnt hurt.

@Krieger91 some people are genetically born with bad teeth genetics and get cavities more than most people. the most I've ever had at a time is 2 or 3 and thats with me brushing twice a day, flossing and usiing mouthwash.
@Krieger91 When I was younger, I drank lots of soda. I'm a huge Coke fanatic as well, and drink on a regular basis. I didn't brush my teeth much back then, but cavities weren't much of an issue. Braces came on fine and off fine. Over the course of 10-13 years, my enamel got worn down extensively. Your enamel is a permanent layer, often the reason crowns are replaced over when they are too worn down. So despite 5-8 brushes a day, I still get cavities easily. No need to presume, man.
It's not sore at all !! Just close ur eyes the whole time I didn't even notice the needle go in . Then wen it's numb they drill ( sounds weird but doesn't hurt ) then they get some tooth brush thing it feels like thudding and the sound is bad . Then they fill it . It's not that bad at all

@kaaafg you barely feel the needle prick you if their a good dentist. And once they do it they have to boost it to make sure your tooth is numb enough to start. Once they start though if it starts to hurt a little say you need more or else itll hurt bad.

I always asked my mom, "Why do we need to get novacane?" she would say, "It would hurt if I didn't" So, I would suspect it would hurt. Don't worry. At least you don't have 10. Instead of worrying about that, ask your mom or dad (If you are a kid and live with your parents...) to get you a treat or something special after. It will keep your mind off the pain. Ask if you can listen to music too. Good luck!!!!!

Getting a cavity is like finding out you have aids...it seemed worth it at the time and your not really sure how you got it, and you don't want it anymore.
ask them to give you gas first then the needle so then u wont feel it thats what i did and i hatttttte needles but i didnt feel it. also bring ur ipod and listen to music that always helps
That's what I did when I got it done, and it actually made the needle-time fun! LOL They kept the laughing gas on the whole time they were filling my cavities...it was quite the experience :P

Yeah, it's really not as bad as I thought. Didn't hurt, other than when the shot wore off a bit, but another set of novocaine, and that discomfort went away quickly :) So..yeah, lesson learned about visiting the dentist for cleanings :-P
Yeah! I had to get a tooth pulled about 6 months ago because I got an infection that caused my gum to swell up around it and cause my gum to really hurt when I touched it so I went to the dentist and they gave me a shot so it wouldn't hurt me as much, and my tooth wasn't even loose! So they gave me another shot in my mouth right on the swelled part of my gum and IT HURT SO BADLY! Anyways, they pulled the tooth and then it fell on the floor.

It really doesn't hurt that bad. I was like you - the thought of the cavity filling is awful, but the actual filling isn't AS bad as you would think. Basically, they give you the Novocain shot *didn't feel
Then, they take this drill-y thing and drill out the cavity. the only bad thing about that is the noise - it sounds awful. it was haunting my whole weekend dreams :|

i got a cavity filled today with no novacaine and it only hurt for like 5 seconds during the drilling part..other than that not bad at all..The worst part is the anticipation before

@kaaafg you barely feel the needle prick you if their a good dentist. And once they do it they have to boost it to make sure your tooth is numb enough to start. Once they start though if it starts to hurt a little say you need more or else itll hurt bad.

@99jdogg ok well i just got mine done today exaclty like an hour ago oh and im 12 too anyways they give u ashot in your mouth like 2 of them ok so the first one didnt hurt at all hha but it is scar but then the 3nd one hurt like a bitch!!!!!!!!! they gave me a shot in muscle oww it still hurts but youll get doe with it toh and it feels like your lips and toung are huge after your done and u can barley eat or talk haha yea so be prepared lol

@Etna127 getting it numbed is way better than feeling the pain of the drill. i learned that from experience. the pain is so bad my eyes rolled back.

I got my 2 fillings last week, the whole precedure didn't hurt that much, but when they drilled my teeth....no comment. OUCH!!!!!!!!

@lollypop703 well, I never had to go through that when I didn't get novacane. I always asked my mom, "Why do we need to get novacane?" she would say, "It would hurt if I didn't" So, I would suspect it would hurt. Don't worry. At least you don't have 10. Instead of worrying about that, ask your mom or dad (If you are a kid and live with your parents...) to get you a treat or something special after. It will keep your mind off the pain. Ask if you can listen to music too. Good luck!!!!!

@OfficialPodawack I am a kid im 14... im soo scard tho !! ik after my mom said i can get to pick dinner but ik i wont be able to eat. my docters helper is pregutnut so she cant be around the gas so he said i cant use that and he said if i get it numb it will take to much of his time up to wait so he said hes just going to do it with out numbing it and i didnt get a saying in if i want to numb it or not i want to ! ill ask if i can lsition to music im going to have a someone on my mind to help

@lollypop703 Well... I was scared last time, which was last month, I went to a new dentist, and they wouldn't give me the gas. But, they gave me a pill to make me all tired. ask about that, and they should give you a shot.

ask them to give you gas first then the needle so then u wont feel it thats what i did and i hatttttte needles but i didnt feel it. also bring ur ipod and listen to music that always helps

That's what I did when I got it done, and it actually made the needle-time fun! LOL They kept the laughing gas on the whole time they were filling my cavities...it was quite the experience :P

@Chumbbo Actually no. I brush my teeth every day twice a day..always have. Though, admittedly, I didn't go to the dentist as often as I should have).
Yeah, it's really not as bad as I thought. Didn't hurt, other than when the shot wore off a bit, but another set of novocaine, and that discomfort went away quickly :) So..yeah, lesson learned about visiting the dentist for cleanings :-P

Yeah! I had to get a tooth pulled about 6 months ago because I got an infection that caused my gum to swell up around it and cause my gum to really hurt when I touched it so I went to the dentist and they gave me a shot so it wouldn't hurt me as much, and my tooth wasn't even loose! So they gave me another shot in my mouth right on the swelled part of my gum and IT HURT SO BADLY! Anyways, they pulled the tooth and then it fell on the floor.
That was a time I will NEVER forget.

It really doesn't hurt that bad. I was like you - the thought of the cavity filling is awful, but the actual filling isn't AS bad as you would think. Basically, they give you the Novocain shot *didn't feel
Then, they take this drill-y thing and drill out the cavity. the only bad thing about that is the noise - it sounds awful. it was haunting my whole weekend dreams :|
it just feels like someone is squeezing the inside of your tooth, but REALLY cold feeling
