To get the cap off, I use a pointy enough scissor an try to make a hole in that back cap. when i get the hole down, i try to take it out by applying a sort of lever like pressure from that hole towards the outside. It works only the cap won't be useful anymore :P

Uh... Those tips are plastic... Add probably 0.3 g total to the whole pen's weight.. :/
