  • Great video. I love how it was all one take.

  • think im gonna stick to FL's Slicex for sample chopping.

  • I love this thing but the guitar selection SUCKS!!! Other than that it's one of the best things since sliced bread.

  • @TransporterMusic uhhh I wouldn't pick this for guitar sounds :) lol...they are definitely not dope. But it loads plugins, so you can get the best guitar sounds to use in it, or plug in a real one :)

    Thanks for the comment

  • Great review! Actually contained a lot of information I wanted. Cheers!

  • @pappnasensack thanks for the comment, this one is pretty old, they actually added a lot of my main points, like vst support, but thanks for watching, I'm glad it helped :)

  • man im just trying to get this controller to light up and work....tried different cable, tried different usb port, reloaded drivers....still no success....but my usb keyboard will work....ou think its a defective controller?

  • @therealmelmac it's possible, unless the driver didn't get installed properly. Is it a new install or did you update recently?

  • Ahhhhh The Video that started it all Fam !!!!

  • hey man, i bought komplete 8 the other day.

can this be used to control certain parameters in komplete 8?

  • @PhokusOner yes

  • @SoundsAndGear Can you use maschine (midi+program) inside of Fl Studio? as a vst plugin?

  • @1JoshPage yes you can

  • i don't get it, an overhyped midi controller is what it is

  • @thefutureispeace yeah, you obviously don't get it if you think it's just a controller, thanks for the comment though lol

  • @SoundsAndGear ok, after watching the video... i definitely see that it has much better functionality than a standard midi controller...

  • @thefutureispeace well, it can be a standard controller too, the goodies come in with how it integrates with it's own software. Without the software, it's just another midi controller, but you can't buy them separate, for good reason :)

  • I think the true hallmark of a master hip hop prducer would be when I hear someone who can create a instrumental that is pulled from multiple samples. They are rearranged to the point where it sounds like a different song that is still authentic to the era from which it was sampled. Like Soul music, Funk, Rock n Roll or Jazz.

  • @phoneke cool, I feel ya

  • im tryna cop one of these, would it work on a hp touchsmart 600pc or only on mac?

  • @datdoodedonno works on pc and mac, I use pc.

  • @SoundsAndGear thx yo, this is gonna help out my production allot. peep my page(had to do sum self promo lol)

  • JUST SOLD MY MPC2000XL ON EBAY.. REPLACED IT WITH A MASCHINE.. ONLY THING IS JUST DISCOVERED YOU CANT TIME STRETCH SAMPLES ON MASCHINE.. MADE ME THINK ABOUT SELLING THE MASCHINE... A NICE KEYBOARD/PIANO COULD DO EVERYTHING THE MASCHINE DOES, EXCEPT THE MPC AINT GOT LATENCY...... IM GOING CRAZY TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHICH ONE TO SELL

  • @theCraynzz yep, definitely something that's been talked about quite a bit

  • dope channel! im just wondering , you say that you could use the vst synths and stuff, but how do you play like chords with just pads?

  • @swidikrull with a midi keyboard

  • @SoundsAndGear oh so you can play with the keyboard insida the maschine software?

  • @swidikrull yes, you can hook your keyboard up like any other software you don't have to just use the pads

  • I wanted to ask you guys that have the maschine do you find 1.6 to be better then 1.5 and well sampling with the 1.6 can u still use the oneshot, ahd, adsr ???? cause i upgraded to 1.6 but had to downgrade cause for some reason it wasnt giving me that option...how about you guys. i want to use komplete 7 with my maschine 1.5 is it possible????? and how

  • @Airtime456 they didn't take anything away in 1.6, oneshot, adsr, and ahd is still there, no you can't use plugins in 1.5

  • is it eeasy for first timers ?

  • @VEGASARTISTUK I think so, but it's hard to say, depends on your background in music and thing, I think it's probably one of the easiest things to start with

  • great advice man,you make it easy to understand.Keep them vids comin yo. Shawn

  • @MixedFlavahs thanks for watching, I appreciate it.

  • @agentscholar ahahahaha lol, nah, never went to Berlin...not yet ;)

  • @agentscholar thanks for the support fam! Glad to see plugins in 1.6 :)

  • Great vid joe. I wanted to get your opinion on something. In your honest opinion would you say that maschine would be a good choice for a producer thats fairly new to making instrumental with a drumpad? The reason I asked is because I have only used a few midi drumpad controllers and never anything like a mpc or anything. Thanks.

  • @mikeannike yeah I would, if that's what you want to do, now if you're just looking for a drumpad controller to use with your current daw then you may want to go with something else, but if you're looking to get into the whole experience of making music with Maschine then I say go for it. It's a different workflow than just a midi controller with a daw, more tactile and instant feedback, etc.

  • I just got my maschine two days ago and u are spot on about everything u said about It Joe. This thing is incredible and now with the 1.6 we have the plugins! Lol. Alot of products have claimed to have controller integration that will replace your mouse but this is the first thing that truly does have rock solid integration and u can truly do everything from the unit. This with the Komplete bundle changed the way I work completely.

  • @dmoates420 yeah man! It's dope lol, glad you like it fam!

  • hi dude Im a beginner in all this and i want to buy a production machine but i dont know which one is better a mpc or de ni maschine or an mpd if you could tell me the diffrence and what is better for a beginner i will be very happy

  • @ferchu100 depends on what you want to do, mpd is only a controller so you still need to buy software with it, maschine comes with it's own software and requires a computer, mpc runs on it's no computer needed to run it but you need to add your own sounds to it, etc. Just depends on what you're looking for. I say Maschine, but that's just my opinion.

  • I just got the maschine a little over a week ago. I dont know where I would be without your tutorials, saintjoe. PROPS!

  • @theycheated that's whasup fam! glad to help!

  • Great review bruh! I like how you communicate, down to earth yet detailed enough to know what's up with the product. Thanks man!

  • @DoreVibe thanks for watching!

  • how many sounds does this come with

  • @EMMAN6120 alot, like over 14k sounds, close to 18k or so, about 5k of those are drum sounds

  • @SoundsAndGear are you sure about that, thats more than what workstation keyboards have. If thats true than damn Im gonna have to get me one.

  • @EMMAN6120 go read the info on their site lol...that's what it says, there's a lot of files in here

  • can you explain what you mean by not using a host and cant use native instruments? PLEASE

  • @hallal55 host = daw, when I did this video, you could not load other plugins/instruments inside of Maschine, this will be fixed in the next update coming soon

  • @SoundsAndGear can you do that with an mpc 1000?

  • @hallal55 the mpc is not a computer, it cannot load plugin instruments (software)

  • heyman i need a few help abotu some products.....

i currently use cubase with midi keyboard but sounds are getting dulll

i was thinking of getting a es6 or roland x6 which has pads.... or an MPC 1000 but now i heard about this.... how do workstations compare to these?

  • @hallal55 these are all totally different products, you need to figure out exactly what you want to add to your setup then make a decision, a workstation is different from a sampler/sequencer so it depend son what you're looking to do. The motifs integrate well with Cubase for what it's worth.

  • @SoundsAndGear well i want to make beats....doesnt a workstation like the motif or roland fantom have a built in sequencer? like with an mpc its just a sampler and sequencer right? so other than the sounds it comes with i have to load sounds?

cant i dot hat with a motif or roland??

    thanks!

  • @hallal55 yes, workstations come with a bunch of instruments, mpcs don't, both can load samples.

  • @SoundsAndGear so mpc has a gain in just the pads? is the sequencer better.... and man i cannot stress thanks for your help man! forums confuse the hell out of me and you seem to know your stuff!

with MPCs i basically just loud samples on there and i can use it to do everything?

  • @hallal55 mpc is a sequencer/sampler, you can sample whatever you want into it, it doesn't have keyboard sounds, strings, etc, like a workstation

  • thanks for this video man. never seen how quickly you can chop up the sample on the Maschine too! what do you mean about the plug ins tho?

im getting my maschine in a few days :D. just waitin on the postman haha

  • @anarchy295 like third party synths and instruments, massive, halion sonic, kontakt, etc...but they've announced that is coming in the next update at the beginning of 2011 some time so it's all good!

  • @SoundsAndGear so my maschine finally came! im pumped. but when i have the program open, i cant play sounds from anywhere else on my computer. do you know if this happens to everyone or if there is something i can do to let me play sounds from both?

  • @anarchy295 this is normal, your asio driver probably doesn't support multiple audio clients at once. You will need a different audio interface that allows you to use multiple applications at once.

  • @anarchy295 ahh ok thanks man!

  • This dude sounds nervous. He must've toked up before filmin' this.

  • 01:08 he deff just said that cause he didnt know 16 x 8 haha

  • @nbaer007 ...if you say so lol

  • IT'S A MARLEY!

  • Thanks for this excellent review. Finally somebody that knows what he's talking about!

  • @tellafew thanks for watching

  • Native Instruments has announced, via its forums, that it is adding plugin hosting to Maschine in version 1.6:

The upcoming 1.6 version will allow you to use VST and AU plugins as sound sources and effects in your Maschine project. This includes both the whole NI range of instruments and effects as well as any third-party plugin.

  • @bubnjarovski yes indeed

  • is the maschine usable without a computer (like an mpc)?

  • Do you use REX file in machine? if yes how is the work flo with the REX.. thanks man!

  • @mproductionsmusik I'm not a bit rex user, rex in maschine isn't something I mess with because you can't audition them like you can wave files. i'd probably mess with them more if you could audition them lol.

  • maybe there is a way of doing this! why native instrument would not add this function? REX file are very popular they need to make that work lol if not iam not buying this maschine! i will find a sample controller or wait that they wake up!!

  • @mproductionsmusik Just stick with Reason then. Native Instruments is a completely separate company than Propellerhead.

  • so this maschine has it's own sequencer?

  • @mpresev yes it's it's own software/hardware that works together

  • ok thnx for the help:)

  • Yo, Im 14 years old.

Im started making beats since 3 months ago, I think.

I have studio monitors, midi keyboard, soundcard: Yamaha Audiogram 3

    cubase and som vst's

Im saving money for the machine

but my question is: is it a nice thing for me to start with?

  • @RedFlowBeats it's a dope product for sure all about what you're looking for, it's definitely a nice thing

  • @RedFlowBeats if you have cubase 5 you dont need machine. you can use groove agent the same way. instead of using pads you can use your midi keyboard. you can even save a preset to mpc and have the sounds cut each other off.

  • @StressFreeWorldWide This is true, somewhat. Groove Agent in no way compares to Maschine though.

  • @RedFlowBeats It might be a little complicated for you. Stick with what you got, learn from it, and learn the basics of audio editing. Then you'll be able to work your way around the Maschine.

  • Is it easy to control volume of each hit in step sequence mode? Thanks for the vids!

  • @rickgut2004 even though I don't use step sequence mode, it is easy to control the volume/velocity of each note.

  • yoo is there a metronome that i can use right before i record my beat or like a countdown???

  • @beantownn54 yep, press shift + record

  • @SoundsAndGear iight thanks bro

  • @beantownn54 no doubt

  • Can I use the Maschine interface to control Battery??

  • @escobarstatus you can use the controller, or send midi to battery from the software but you can't open battery inside of Maschine

  • it will be the best product of the year once they add time-stretch

  • @DgrThaDon timestretch is cool, but I don't use it, so it's not a big deal for me lol, I agree it should be there, but it's definitely not stopping it from being the dopest product around at this point :) Not in my opinion anyway

  • yo i gotta question.. can i load alchemist, 9th wonder or dj premier drum kits to mashince?? if so, how??

  • @beantownn54 you can load whatever wave files you want to load.

  • cool vid bro. is the machine portable like the mpc 500? can i put audio files in it and make music with it when i travel?

  • @raplover171 it's a midi controller matched with it's own production software, it's not a hardware beat machine, you need the computer to use it.

  • yo man good video, do u know how to just quantise one sound, so for example if u play in a kick and want quantise that but not anything else you have played previously, is this possible?? any help would be appreciated peace

  • @nocurerecords you use the "event select" to select the events of the kick, and then quantize it

  • NI All the way :P

  • @plasmaforce11 indeed

  • Thanks for this, man. I ordered the unit yesterday and am looking forward to using it. I have a fully integrated studio with multiple high end key workstations, 18 piece Roland TD-20 set, etc.. etc... but wanted something to create beats and bass lines on the go, with my slate PC tablet. Then I can midi it up to my TD-20 for some truly incredible sounds to go straight to my DAW.

Again, thanks for the video. It is nice to see when people are so excited about their gear. Take care.

  • @myownworldlive cool man, let me know what you think when you get it!

  • @SoundsAndGear Will do... thanks again.

  • i with you. i just want to use maschine. if they make it where we can use native instruments it's a wrap. i'm done. i'm not using anything else period!!!

  • @lexamazing word up man, real talk, will be game over lol, still hoping!

  • how is the mastering and mixing with the Machine software? Is it good or would it be better to master and mix my projects in another software?

  • @MilitantProduction not really a mastering/mixing application, most will do that in their daw

  • what i really want to know is, can i make banging beats with just the maschine and pass them on to my crew or jam them in the car with out cleaning in the studio? is it good sound quality and composer good? other wise i can just use reason for at home but im starting to sample and chop oldies now and i think the hands on feel might help my groove out! but now i use cubase-recycle-reason-back to cubase for some quick washing and tweeking them - striaght to CD.

  • @hiphopsampler i'm sure you can do that with anything if you want to lol...it doesn't have as many fx as reason probably but has the basic stuff in there for sure as well as some other additional fx.

  • ok so i've been using reason and cubase and a fantom and lots of live instr. at the studio we have! but as far as at home i really wanted to get something simple to make good beats and fix them up later at the studio. But!!!!! if i do a beat at home that fresh to death i want it to be good quality so if i dont want to change any thing on it i dont have to and 86 the studio when it allows. father of 4 so money is tight!

  • @hiphopsampler I feel you yo! I got 3 myself :) Would it be easier to use one of the programs you already have for your home setup? Or even the fantom?

  • Yo! Luv ur vids man. I have a question for ya. I use an MPC1000 in my lab, but have been thinking about switching to the Maschine. I only use the MPC for the pad assignment and track/sample arrangments then bounce to my pc to clean up and add other instruments via VST's etc. Ya reckon the Maschine would be better suited for what im doing? Cheers mate!

  • @PhyrestorM13 whatup yo, I would say if you can, try maschine out in a store somewhere first, see what you think about it. I can definitely do most of what the mpc is doing, especially if you're just laying drums and chopping samples, but it has it's own way of course, some like it, some don't. I love it personally, very quick and have access to all my sounds. If you can, I'd get maschine first, then decide, you may want to keep both, you'd still have the mpc for "away from computer" beats :)

  • @SoundsAndGear Thanks heaps man. Much love. Keep up the great work!

  • CAN ANYONE ANSWER THIS FOR ME?????? WHAT'S BETTER, MPC3000 OR 4000?????

  • ahh sp1200 emulator..I like the sound of that. thanks for the info and keep doing what you do man

  • @getemcoach07 no doubt fam, thanks for the support

  • I really enjoy your videos my man.

I've been strictly ableton up until this point. No extra midi controllers or anything just me and my qwerty thus far lol (just ordered a midi cable to hook up my keyboard however)

I love sampling and the raw, dirty gritty sound in hip hop..I know different hardware generate different sounds of this and I want to make sure I purchase a device capable of delivering that rawness..would you give that endorsement to Machine??

  • @getemcoach07 I feel you man! whatever works! Thanks for the support. Maschine is dope, it's a nice addition to ableton, which is what I was using before Maschne came along, before that I was all about the mpc and keyboards lol.

You can add many fx and such to your sounds in machine, including sp1200/mpc60 emulation. The mpc 60 is okay, but many really like the sp1200 emulation.

If you can get to a store and try it, I say check it out.

  • looking around on videos for a month and thinking about copping this, im sold... just placed an order online... u sold me.... NI should pay you commision...

i kind of drag myself to the lab some weekdays cause i work with a computer all day long at work and the last thing i wanna do when i come home is sit by another computer.. finally i can sit down be creative on weekdays!... Just do all the mastering and mixing on my days off!

    bless.

  • @79rent exactly how I was, I'm a IT guy by day, so it took me a long while to find something I liked in the software world, this is definitely a great bridge for folks like us lol.

  • @SoundsAndGear NICE, i think allot of people are like us... Have u looked at any standalone VST host, like the V-machine?

if NI aint allowing vst plugins then that might be the way to go... or do you know of any good vst host programs ( for mac ) damn 2 days delivery time seems like forever now! lol...

  • @79rent yeah there are a few ways to use vst with it. Problem comes when you want to record. Best way is to use a daw as a vst rack I think.

  • @SoundsAndGear nice... its comming in the mail tommorow.. cant wait!

  • @79rent no doubt, I'm sure you will enjoy it!

  • 7:53 is the the truth "Native Instruments Maschine is the illest product out"

    cosign

until you try this thing, you're seriously underestimating the true definition of "integrated workflow"

    currently untouchable imho

  • @mrpbns lol yeah man, it's very nice, nothing like it at the moment, though I'm sure there will be a few others with similar features of integration, right now there isn't, and so it remains the king

  • yeah!your tie is dope man!

  • @bspbeats hahahaha lol, thanks!

  • 7:00 way too subliminal, I doubt they understood! lol

thanks for your vid, super informative!!!

  • @macdaddylorenzo hahahaha, we'll see if they got the hint! lol, thanks for checkin it out

  • so i just got maschine today and im very excited to figure it out. I know with the mpc's you can drag a clip into it and slice it and spread the clip out throughout all the pads. how do you do that with this? can you still do this with maschine??

  • @boxingsun open the sample in maschine, press sampling, go to slice, and adjust your slices, then hit apply to assign them to a group

  • did you ditch your mpc for this machine? i got the mpc4000

  • @biggaflex2gs I didn't "ditch" my mpc for it, I was already not using it when I started using Ableton Live, Maschine just gave me the stuff I was missing from the MPC. No I no longer have my 4k, I sold it.

  • it seems there is lots of reverb in your studio

  • @1ino1eum I'm in a basement, not a studio lol.

  • can do i play the drum group sounds from a external controller. i can trigger the sounds but its just one sound spread across the whole controller in different note tunes. pads are cool but im just use to playing drums samples on a keyboard controller. thanks.

  • @HIPHOPCHAMBER peep my other video on it, search for "spread maschine samples across keyboard" without the quotes, my playlist for Maschine will come up and it will have the video where I show how to do that. It's pretty quick to do as well.

  • I see Mashine has a new update.........I wanted to know If the new update came with timestretching....The reason I ask is...I'm all about workflow and I don't want to mess it up switchin from app to app I want to be able to do almost everything all in one.

  • @Jaysmi1027 no timestretching

  • thank

  • how much is it for

  • @faatui06 like $660 or so

  • hey are those yamaha hs50m's?

  • @oceanlunaa no

  • @SoundsAndGear oh, looks just like em

  • This is revolutionary....Thanks for the overview man. Should I go with MPC or Maschine?

  • @pseudonymmmm really depends on what you want to do, if you have a room full of gear to sequence, the mpc is still better in that regards with it's 4 midi outs, program/bank changes, etc...

but that's the only way I'd say go with an mpc lol, Maschine is dope, period.

  • @SoundsAndGear Thx. I'm leaning towards the Maschine. I'm lacking hard in hardware. My only piece of hardware is a M-Audio Keystation 88es, the rest is software but I was hoping to make a transition to hardware or at least get the best of both worlds you know?

  • @SoundsAndGear

Maschine seems to be the best choice no doubt but I'm at a bind since I wanted to get a feel of how heads crafted beats back in the day with the MPC. Though I wouldn't want to limit myself by going with the MPC when Maschine's is ultimately the best choice in our day. The workflow is just nuts!

  • @pseudonymmmm get Maschine, has the same workflow plus more. Like I said, if you're already on a computer, and you don't have a bunch of racks and keyboards to sequence, it's no question. I come from the mpc 4000, now it just sits next to my table while I bang out on Maschine.

  • @SoundsAndGear Thanks again I'm hoping to cop it soon, the price has me sold

  • @pseudonymmmm no doubt yo!

  • What Audiointerface or Soundcard you use for the Maschine?

  • @Zippfel88 just my internal laptop soundcard right now until I get my new audio pc.

  • Thanks for the great Tutorials!!One Love from Germany keep it up.The next Week I get my Maschine = )

  • @Zippfel88 cool man, you'll love it

  • @SoundsAndGear Also, if I were to go with an MPC, which one should I start with? or should I just go with the Maschine? given the information listed below

  • Talk to me bout the Timestretching and pitchshifting in the Mashine if they have it. And how would you compare it with the MPC and Mv 8000/8800

  • @Jaysmi1027 they said they are working on timestretch but it's not in there yet, they have been good about adding requested updates from the users so I imagine it will come. I've never used it much personally on the 4k so it wasn't a big thing for me.
