@pubellication a dire il vero il suo best ranking lo raggiunge nel 1988 (n. 4 del mondo)... nel 1989 vince ancora un torneo importante come Indian Wells e poi si spegne a causa di ernia del disco che gli fa chiudere la carriera nel 1990 a soli 26 anni. Con la schiena a posto sarebbe rimasto nei primi 5 del mondo per molto tempo.

Yes it already anachronic in 1987, that's why it was terminated after 1989. The WCT tour was not existing any longer. This tournament already had created problems in 1985 because of TV coverage, matches scheduled early in the morning, players were not liking it. McEnroe has lost in straight sets, people were wondering about the need of that tournament.
