Do you mean, in terms of music or lyrics? Or, perhaps, both? In my opinion, the only resemblance resides in the lyrics, to a certain extent, that is, both Brel and Reggiani sing about loneliness, which is easier to cope with if shared with someone. Even with someone completely unknown, like in the case of Reggiani. Yet, I do appreciate the comparison with Brel, since the two of them were at the same (high) level. So, thank you. Melania

@musicadicuore Yes,you're right.But i'm talking about the harmonie and melodie not lyrics.It's very very similar the music,more the hArmony than the melody of the voice.but it happens...it doesnt makes reggiani less than he is.their both great,really emotional in a good way.But i prefeer brel cause he was more a composer bsider beying a tremendous performer.But Serge is great too.let's enjoy both cause each one has so many wondefull songs.Thank you,kind lady!!

In my turn, I prefer Reggiani. Which doesn't make Brel less than he is: it's just a matter of choice... Anyway, Reggiani and Brel are not competing against each other and are not mutually exclusive: one can listen to both of them and, as you say, enjoy both of them, since they are - both - exquisite ARTISTS. I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with you; I happen to know both songs you are talking about and, except some recurrent themes (to be found in a lot of other songs) I cannot see any resemblance, as regards the music, at least. Not to mention that 'copy' is a strong word: had it been so, it should have been discovered by now: remember this song was written in 1975. Yet, I do agree with the last part of your comment, so thanks for sharing your opinion, even if it differs from mine.

Dear Sir, I admire your sense of analysis of these French songs, even it seems the French is not your native language (I speak French and apologize for my bad English).For me, "Manu" (Renaud), "Jeff" (Brel) and "Si tu me payes un verre" (Dimey) are beautiful an touching stories of friendship. For me Bernard Dimey´s words are like a french go on the American poet Walt Whitman´s praise to love and solitude and embrassing a stranger if only for a moment. I love it - I am a fan of Serge Reggiani, but this one was new to me. Thank you!

Your words provided me with the answer to a question I asked myself: ''does this ring a bell?'' It should have, since I studied Whitman, when I was a student, that is long time ago... At any rate, shared loneliness seems to be easier to cope with, so I would say both Whitman and Dimey are right. Not to mention that the latter has the advantage of being sung by such a beautiful voice as Reggiani's...

Je ne pense pas que le cd de jehan soit introuvable. Je l'ai personnellement découvert à la médiathèque de nantes après avoir savouré sur scène une magistrale interprétation de jehan, agnès bihl et yves jamait qui ne manquent pas à chacun de leurs spectacles de rendre hommage à bernard dimey. Cette interprétation de reggiani est également magnifique.

Essayons en francais: si tu veux dire que Serge Reggiani a epouse' Noelle Adam (ex-femme de Sydney Chaplin, le fils de Charles Chaplin), alors tu as raison... Elle est devenue Noelle Adam Reggiani en 2003, c'est-a-dire, 1 an avant la mort de Serge (qui avait 81 ans a' cette epoque la')...

je viens de regarder mes cd... et ce titre de jehan est sur un cd deja introuvable je pense, de la fin des années 90 ... jehan divin dimey... titre 3 .chez night and day.. petite boite de l'époque. si vraiment cela vous interesse je peux me débrouiller pour en faire une copie!!( comme à la grande époque des cassettes!..). a voir!!

Oui, mais aucune surprise, dirais-je, parce-que l'excellence est devenue habitude chez Mr. Reggiani. Et je dois ajouter ici qu'il a(vait) beaucoup de chansons qui etaient moins connues, mais pas forcement moins belles que (toutes) les autres. Celle-ci est seulement une des nombreuses epreuves pour soutenir cette affirmation.
