What a beautiful song. Sweet dreams for sure.. We don't find many great songwriters these days who can write songs like this one. Doris is a terrific artist. Her distinctive voice is so enjoyable. I feel she makes any song her own. Thanks for posting this . -Paula
There are a few comments here about movies that featured this song. This very, very beautiful song was featured prominently in more films than any other song that I have ever heard. That line that says---- Someone took you out of my arms, but still I feel the thrill of your charms. Well it is hard to imagine a line in any other song that can match that sentiment.
What a great Movie that was and Doris Day! What can you say. She was fabulous! Danny Thomas sang that song in the Movie as well and I have been trying to get his song version of "I'll See You In My Dreams". If you have a video clip of it I sure would appreciate you uploading it. Thank You for posting this.
I am 78 and these singers take me back many years, filling my body with the joy and pleasure I experienced. This is travelling back in time to relive...
This beautiful song was written by the German-Jewish immigrant and brilliant lyricist Gus Kahn. It also served as the name of the movie biography of Kahn that had Doris playing his wife. Kahn co-wrote many of Al Jolson's greatest hits and indeed Doris does a Jolson immitation in the movie. There is also a scene in which Doris tells Kahn (portrayed by Danny Thomas) that the world needs great lyricists like him because young men and women don't really know how to say to each other I Love You.

You have captured the quintessential, exquisite essence of Doris....and so much of what she meant to us back then, and how heart wrenchingly more precious what she gave us has become. It doesn't exist anymore. I have played this at least 25 or 30 times and
don't expect to ever max out
This song was created as jazz...but Doris and whoever arranged this music "scored" an unforgettable, maybe unbeatable rendition

It was also used as background music in the movie Picnic with William Holden and Kim Novak.

The movie was wonderful, and there were so many great songs in it. Danny Thomas had a good voice too.
