If I were to choose what I find "just", it would not include the death penalty and physical punishment in a just system. victim taking advantage of a system which knows corporal punishment and the death penalty in many respects, many of them posing disadvantages to women (like one of the conditions for adultery stoning being pregnancy, which only a woman can fall victim to). So IF there is such a system in place where the indiviudal and the individual woman faces its disadvantages every day, I personally see it as just if she takes advantage of the advantages, too. Everything else would be double standard.

I agree that quisas seems savage here, esp. when looked upon from a comfy armchair. But in a society where women still count little and cruelty against women still is seen as acceptable, such a sentence could be a much needed signal. I'm trying to think about how I'd feel if I'd had acid thrown into my face and was permanently disfigured. It's not just the physical pain but the psychological trauma too. I don't believe that revenge is a noble thing. Revenge only leads to more revenge, and when does it stop? History should teach us this. Revenge is no better than the initial act, it is fighting insanity with insanity. Insanity needs to be counteracted with sanity. He needs to be removed from society until he becomes sane. If he never becomes sane, then he should stay removed, or be put down, as people like this are of no use to anyone including themselves.

If I ever met her I would feel so sorry for her, I'd introduce myself and offer my condolences and tell her my thoughts are with her.

Giving the victim the option for "compensation" or revenge is a flaw in the judical system. The option for revenge should not be given to her....only justice. @J4m3z1 .....What I meant to say was, in cases where severe punishments are carried out, sometimes there can be cases where it may not be transparent or in some cases, people being wrongly convicted. In those cases where ambiguity lie, I can't find myself agreeing with the sentencing. But in this case I have totally no sympathy for the man.
PS: I really don't think this case is an "eye for an eye", mainly because this guy is having the "luxury" of being put under aesthetic, unlike the victim.

So IF there is such a system in place where the indiviudal and the individual woman faces its disadvantages every day, I personally see it as just if she takes advantage of the advantages, too. I've read that ever since his sentence was out, acid dropping cases are down to an all time low.
I agree that quisas seems savage here, esp. when looked upon from a comfy armchair. But in a society where women still count little and cruelty against women still is seen as acceptable, such a sentence could be a much needed signal. Some of those sick men who would do such a thing will think twice now.
And if it prevents such an attack for only one other woman, it will be worth it.
