@xxAzorathxx@xxAzorathxx Because alot of people your age CAN'T handle seeing this type of stuff. It's all a matter of how desensitised you are. I'm the same, this type of stuff never really bothered me when I was younger and it still doesn't. I'm becoming more and more desensitised with every clip I watch. I'm not saying this is a good thing either.
despite the lack of safety devices for the head and neck and explosion, both drivers made it out of their race cars alive but injured. that type of incident can get anybody killed. that was not the case for both drivers.
It's never ever a good idea to pull someone's helmet off after an impact like that; you have to remember that head and neck restraints weren't really around in 98 and the Ferrari driver isn't wearing one anyhow. If you've ever dropped a bike hard and strained your neck you'll know what I mean, isn't much fun getting it off when you're not sure that you aren't about to break your neck the rest of the way.
man, that man deserves respect though he was burnt to a crisp on his arms. I heard a bout a lawsuit against him for neglectful driving over 300 million yen. Some people are fucked in the head this man races for you and almost lost his life and you want his money. Hopefully the lawyer and those suing drive their ferraris on the highway and spontaneously combust. HAH!
both drivers survived, porsche driver with a broken right leg, ferrari driver with third-degree burns over a lot of his body, and to this day he can't move his right arm. he won a lawsuit for $800,000 (US$ equivalent) for the poor response by the medical staff, and this ended his career in racing, though he is still involved in amateur racing.
That was disgusting the way the marshall pulled him out and left him, the poor driver was clearly in distress, he should have got him away from the car and stayed with him, let the thing burn once the driver is out
That seemed pretty disorganised by the Japanese marshals. I know they have a hard job and I would be shitting it if I had to put that fire out or even attend to the Ferrari driver. However they must have had proper training in a situation like that, I mean you don't drag a guy who is obviously seriously burning into a van with no stretcher or any medical assistance. I was shocked to see them try and stand him up!? Those marshals put the Ferrari Drivers life at severe risk and I'm glad he's alive
thats fucked when they pull the ferrari driver out of the car and he is still smoking. their fire-resistant suits won't burn, but you are still sitting in a bath of fire, he had to be severly burnt after that.
1:35 wtf???!!! the 'first responder' leaves the side of the driver to take care of the fire when it's already out? that is total bull crap!!! I don't see any real first responders there, just a few people with some fire extinguishers... the guy should have been kept in a stable state, instead they let him walk around with the risk of further injuring himself, i.e. fainting. so poorly run!!!!
I can't believe the track workers didn't even go to the burning Ferrari with extinguishers, then they just leave him on the ground without any medical help. Morons.
Goosebumps, from head to toe, for about the last 40 seconds. Holy crap, that was moving. I am glad to hear that he survived but am disappointed that somebody's poor planning only got him $800,000. It does not seem comparable for what he went through. Also, from the look of it in the video, he was not pulled out of his car by a professional emergency team; it appeared that a fellow driver pulled him out.
The guy in the red car is probably lucky that his car kept moving. The feul spilled out, and burned up quickly because the car kept moving. I am shocked he lived. Amazing video. The video even captured the red driver regaining conscience!! Scary Amazing!
Ota was taken to a hospital in Gotemba[3] where he was treated for third-degree burns to his face and neck area and minor burns to the rest of the body, but was fortunate to survive. He required plastic surgery to the nasal area as a result of the visor melting on his face. He also suffered from intoxication from the fumes he inhaled from the fire.
He was unable to function his right arm, right shoulder and fingers properly, causing an end to his professional career
Ota filed a damages suit against seven organizers for their failure to implement proper safety measures in Tokyo District Court in November 1999. Those held liable included circuit operator, Fuji Speedway, series organiser, Japan Automobile Federation (JAF); the race operator, VICIC (Victory Circle Club)and broadcaster TV Tokyo.
The responsible parties had poorly prepared first aid response and used poorly trained race marshals.
inzane... i thought when the red car exploded like that. it was like some one droped a bomb. tjust boom. and one M,O,A,B mother off all bombs. in the midel off the road. and the driver survived incadible. 5 stars.
To some of the other commentators: In professional car racing only the chief doctor and some paramedics can touch a driver. Firemen (the guys in red on the video) can only touch a driver in extreme situations (like this one) to bring him out of the car, but they are not prepared to give medical assistance because they can cause more damage to the injured.
"errrm, dont worry about me fellers.. i'll just lie here... on the track.. with my head on fire inside this fucking helmet. I dont want to make a fuss but... GET ME A FUCKING PARAMEDIC NOW!!! Ooh I feel a bit light headed now".
Why leave him like that? You'd never do something like that today, everyone would be all over him right away. Screw the car, extinguishing the fire is all that's needed.

I've never seen so much negligence in all my life. How was this 'race' allowed to commence? Is that little yellow flag all they have? Why leave him in his car for so long? Why stand him up and literally throw him in the back seat of the 'ambulance.' Some groups of ppl in our world have no commonsense. I won't elaborate.
they both are rescued and seem to move after the crash but what's with the second driver standing up and walking? they should've of carried him out on a stretcher as a precautionary measure. god, that was scary though...
