i have a 2010 yamaha yzf 125 cc and i can get 75-80 out of it and takes about ten seconds to reach 60! my mates thrashes me on his 2003 aprillia rs but that always goes wrong! if you want speed i would buy an rs. if you want reliabilty, looks, and that awesome factor get the yzf!!!!!!!!!
@1AOR1 For a few hundred miles then the RS will breakdown or the guy who owns it's wallet will be empty because of the fuel and 2 stroke oil costs.. Yamaha wins for reliablility, noise, cost, practicality, 'everyday use' factor and price
@montemini177 I've owned 2-stroke bikes all my life and have never had a problem with them, as long as you look after it very well you will be fine and I don't buy a bike for any of those things, I buy a bike to have fun on and the RS will deliver fun!
@1AOR1 Fair enough, but alot of people who buy 125cc's are looking for something cheap to use everyday. I've riden the RS and hands down its fantastic fun, but using it everyday i'm not sure.. warming it up, 2 stroke oil, i've heard alot of problems with the engine and the noise.. Not an everyday Bike, but fun for sure
@Jamie4danielle :If someone hae 1000ccm3 2 stroke he will smash every motorbyke on the world check Honda cr 500 it is have 77KW maybe more if you sit on some biger 2 stroke you will have the same opinion sorry for my english:D
because theyre great little bikes, that leave any other 125 for dead. not to mention u can see the look on the yzf owners face when u come past him like hes going backwards. :) ive had 2 strokes and 4s, and the 125 market is dominated by 2 strokes.
i would like to ask a question i wanna buy the yamaha and the ktm 125 exc sm and i will like to know which one is better pls answer its is urgent cause i already have the money to buy one of them.
i really like all about yamaha r125 I would just like if the bike wwas little faster i am going to buy one soon and im wondering is there any way that i can get some more power in Yamaha , tunning the bike or something?
i chose rs125, its WAY faster. Its italian, looks great and the handling is amazing. the 4 stroke 125's are really commuter bikes compared to the rs125
@viewym umm... what comes to LEARNING there is two sides: driving/handling and technics.
Yamaha has a modern 4-stroke, while Aprilia has 2-stroke... It is more then usual that every sportbike above 400cc is 4-stroke.. si there goes learning in technics... but i belive that aprilias aerodynamics are closer to racing bike than Yamahas... Cannot say my oppinion but i think they're pretty even when you are looking at the overall... O.o
well if you see at yamahas top speed it's ~140kp/h but aprilia with full power is around 160-170... every bike under 400cc should be 2stroke.. in my opinion
@ponde15 That is good way to think yeah.. but there is some ppl like me who wants to save in gas bill and when comes the time that you need to go garage, i'd like to fix 4-stroke cause it is more familiar technic for me (:
at the end of the day yamaha needs modified and more money spent on it with increased cylinder size just to keep up with aprilia. hardly worth it. just buy an rs and be quietly happy with it. so shut the fuck up. if you allowed to put big bore kit on yam the why not on rs? there is no argument here. only good thing but yam is quality and reliabilty.
The speed isn't everything. Most people want reliability and looks. The Yamaha takes number 1 spot for that. Most people who just want bikes to be fast and immature and can't look at 2 sides of the options.
i agree with you. i have an rs125. mine has been reliable though. as i said quality and reliability are the yams strong points. i am a mature rider and dont abuse my bike. as you can see in my last comment i do see the good in both sides and i wouldnt mind owning a yam.
Yeah good mate. I would have the RS 125 if I could have both. But I'm gonna be doing 20+ miles rides each day and need reliability. A mate of mine had the RS 50 and it let him down constantly, don't want to risk that with having an Aprilia. But it's good your mature enough to respect your bike!
Maybe your friend didn't know how to drive? I had RS50 and I did drive 14 000 km without problems. Only thing that broke was chain at 14k. Still using same piston and it was in good shape. Now driving Derbi GPR125. It's good and reliable but eats shitloads of gasoline, about 7l for 100km. Not so cheap when you have to drive 80km per day :F
ok ill stick my r125 up against it hahaha 180cc borekit gpr exhaust re mapped ecu race piston ( to tag) goodyear slicks and a r6 powerband adaptor + r1 powerband (: 120 mph not km/h then that shitty tin can u call an aprilia wont excist (:
spend the money from ure make belive yammy on aprilia lmao ! 2 strokes r faster get over it ure such a spoon !l. ! the money that would cost to build the yammy is just silly you could go on holiday lol ! oh and plus you would have to cahnge the gearing aswell on the yam cus they top at 83 wich is 4th gear on an aprilia lol all the yams have are reliabilty !
@olieryan BOLLOCKS. your bikes just slow. get a real bike. your bike does 70mph when your going down a hill, and u havnt eaten and u have just had a shit. and u have trimmed ur toenails.
the aprilia will mince u man, u paid too much for the wrong bike. looks great goes like my nans lawnmower.

Well of course i prefer Yamaha because I own one(Aprilia is my friend's) but they both have their good and bad sides.
I prefer Yamaha's low fuel consumption, reliability, looks etc etc.
Sure Aprilia is powerfull but's it's a ticking timebomb which is gona cost ya sooner or later(probably sooner?).
And of course this is again just my opinion.
