Hey I used to be a cutter. Life can seem pointless and horrible but that's because you have nothing to live for until you meet with the reason why you live. Until I opened up to God it didn't seem like it to me either. Now life isn't great but it's better. Maybe God just wants you to open up and think of Him for Him to look out for you completely.

You really don't need God to find meaning my friend, make the best of life while you can, you are limited by your genetics and your dedication to the things you do; you have to love yourself to find happiness, not by having others love you.
