When the mother gives birth, is it a more viable option to keep the offspring as future breeding stock to better expand my business or is it better to just sell them to the public and make a quick profit? I admit I'm not familiar with raising milk goats but I'm just curious.
@yonny1954 must people believe that it's a problem with over-entrainment, I believe it is a problem of people being bombarded with useless information in college (it makes you a better slave) and then working during the time there not "learning" to pay for there useless information that they are note forever indebted too.
dsarti, yes lactation is a result of pregnancy, thanks for reenforcing that, can you please do a serious video on Dairy Goats? I would like to know more than I do now, Feed, Special considerations, illness, fencing requirements, life span, butchering after life as a dairy goat is over, etc...
It is evident you have more knowledge than I when it comes to goats and I would seriously like to know more than I do now.
It would be greatly appreciated by myself and I'm sure a few others.
LOL I agree! If people are to dumb that they dont know about the birds and bee's then they dont need to get a goat or survive in a shtf situation! lol
LOL. sounds like you have chance to run across some real dumbasses. I was wondering why this video started off by showing a goat with an erection... now it all makes sense.
Sooo correct me if I am wrong, but what you are trying to say is I must but more than one goat to get milk ? What if I buy two nannies, would that do the trick ? Explain yourself Mr Dsarti1
If you are an adoptive mother, whether by choice or due to a family catastrophe, or if you are considering adoption because you cannot have a child of your own, you may wonder if you can still enjoy the loving closeness of breastfeeding your new baby.
The answer is, "Of Course!" if you have at least one functioning mammary gland, even if you have never had children, are past menopause, or have had a partial or total hysterectomy; you can experience lactation without pregnancy.
I Love your sense of humor. I just got a real belly-jiggle out of this one. I can't believe people can be so ignorant about something as commonsense things like where milk comes from, nor how it is acquired.
Oh, that makes sense now...that broad that I met at the bar last week does have kids!!! She told me she did not have any, yet when I played with her boobs, she lactated all over the damn place :--((
@starlitopensky1 yes but only squirrels and moths after that, all the rest must buy or barter for milk or drink soy milk a poor substitute for the real thing
@osu740 YES THEY ARE! I swear my wife had a woman she works with decline to buy our eggs, why? Wait for it ....................................."cuz they come from chickens"! When asked by my wifw where she got her eggs she said ........................"the store". This woman by the way is a Registered Nurse. You just can't make this stuff up!
i prefer to buy bread goats instead of milk goats its easier to make sandwiches..lol ...i could never get those nannies to put their milk in the carton
We are so far removed from the farm and what made this country great that running into those so far removed from what was once common knowledge and essential for one's existence, that any farm boy would pull his hair out. We once had visitor from New York to our ranch decades ago that ran 1/4 mile from our goat until he found a picnic table he could get up on and escape from the attacking goat. The guy was terrified. The goat was only playing...
What about dairy cows? Does the same thing apply? How long do they give milk? Doesn't seem very economical having to constantly produce offspring just to get milk for a while.
wow, just because someone doesnt know the exact things that you know doesnt make them stupid or undeserving of life. Thats pretty naive. You wouldnt want me to call you stupid for not knowing organic chemistry, even though it is the basis from which we get 99% of everything we produce and are made from.
People that don't realize that a female's milk glands are activated by pregnancy, not just with humans, but the rest of mammals too, need to have a few lessons in animal husbandry before buying a goat. If people are making such a purchase for a bug out retreat, that sort of logic disconnect /will/ get them killed. Lack of knowledge equates to deserving to die from a Darwinian survival model. But, of course, our friend dsarti1 says such things all the time as a form of humor. :)
@Zippy1one Really ! They are so far apart it is like two different galaxies. At some point basic knowledge or rather it's absence is laughable. Understanding that pregnancy and child bearing is fundamental to milk production is so elemental that the teacher is not to blame but the student assuming you are an adult and are familiar with breast feeding, or perhaps you never wondered why your wife or girlfriend won't give you milk!
@yonny1954 I know all about the birds and the bees. But to sit there and complain about the Yankee prepper picking on him and then doing the same to someone else is hypocritical at the least. In todays society a basic understanding of food production and agriculture is limited to whats on the grocery store shelf.
@Zippy1one Again the lack of a fundamental understanding is at some point laughable. Perhaps if the ignorant would spend as much time finding out about their world as they do in entertaining themselves with electronics we would not be in such a sad state where people ask such totally inane questions. Blaming the grocery store for their ignorance is like Rosey O'Donnel blaming spoons for being fat
@yonny1954 I did not blame the grocery store or any other entity for that matter. Asking questions is one way to find out about the world around you and denotes intelligence. If you can find out while having fun, even better. Truly the only ignorance would be not to ask.
That is so funny, this made my day. It is true that there are not many that understand anything to do with farming, but sometimes it's shocking how really stupid some are about the most normal things in life. Duh....... Then again, I had to learn too, so
true... but there is an exception... we had a goat with a precocious udder... she came into milk every spring without being bred... we could have milked her all winter, but we did not want to... however, we never got more than a quart a day... was very nice...
