  • what is this song called

  • @chrisyferg /watch?v=uWeAtLr8bX4 took me a year to find it :P

  • not many guys that big can skate like this kid, he is truly an enigma

  • Comment removed

  • true if hedman was 6ft he be like 15th or 20th in the draft coming from a guy in sweden

  • i agree with that for sure....but if he was taken 15-20 it would be a steal, he has amazing offensive instincts and can skate very well

  • hedman isnt even good he's just big thats all

  • no surprise a comment like this comes from an canadian guy

  • well it's true and you know it

  • i know that hes gonna be a better player then taveres

  • Hedman is no where near the skill level of "Tavares" i think most of the world agrees well except sweden

  • @DARKCORE999 you know.... Hedman is a Defencemen and Tavares is a Forward!! And you don't seem to know anything about defence

  • @Stridh93 he sucks at both positions the only reasons he got drafted so high is because he played in a shitty league since he was 16 and just because he big. theres no skill @ all. i hav no clue what you sweds see in him!

  • How can you say that we have a shitty league? Have you forgot about; Forsberg, Mats sundin, The twins, Niklas sundström, Zetterberg? We have all the legends, you retard.

  • Accually yah it is a crappy league & im not saying everyone in it sucks but hedman does suck, I bet some teams in the OHL could be any of your teams in the so called "ELITE" league. Canada has way more legends than sweden: Gretzky, Lemieux, Yzerman, Bourque, Coffey, Brodeur, Lafleur, Richard, Messier, Dryden. Thats just a few of all the legends we have so dont even dare trying to compare Canada to Sweden.

  • @DARKCORE999 We cant match that line up and you know it! No one can match it! But now days, you cant say that we are way behind of you guys (canadians), come on, peter forsberg, mats sundin, nick lidström, henrik zetterberg, we have our guys too :) and now days we are comepting at the same level, not like on the lemieux gretzky days! youre a great hockey nation and we are a great hockey nation, lets leave it like that!

  • @DARKCORE999 The SEL is way better than anything outside of NHL and KHL, saying anything else just shows how little you know about hockey.

  • @vertgg Well i dont know about that. Sm-Liiga teams for example have beaten SEL teams constantly for yearsso yea i dont know about that.

  • for sure i'd say 6'7, i stand near him 1 month ago and he is deffinitely taller than me by an inch, i stand 199cm

  • im almost that tall so ill by that if you mean he is 6'6 1/2 and rounded he towers over most people

  • Cool clips, awesome player but the second I hear Coldplay I'm outta here. Coldplay has no place in hockey. Coldplay is for 45 year old divorced women to listen to while taking a bath or gardening. McLame.

  • Is he sporting a Mullet at 0.48 secs? lol.

  • i think mullets are cool in sweden

  • vad heter andra låten i filmen?

  • this kid should had been drafted first overall man wow i mean with a couple of pounds put in him at the gym watch out chara he is a beast good for tampa keeping that pick

  • We gonna miss you in MODO Victor <3

  • theres no way this kid is 6'7 , get serious. hes 6'5 at the most

  • I am season ticket holder with the Lightning. I am 6'4, and stood next to him. He is definitely 6'7, for sure.

  • nhl draft put him at 6"6

  • he is 1.98

  • offfcially says 6'6"

  • i saw him live in modo sweden and i can tell u he is 6'7 but on skates he is like 7'0 dude scary thing on the ice man!!!!!!!!!

  • Go Tavares!!!

Hedman will have to settle for second place..

  • what song is this? its awesome

  • whats the first song?

  • This is some other version but the original version is by Led Zeppelin. Name of the song is Kashmir

  • its gonna be fun to watch the nhl next year and playoffs look at these draft prospects

  • and even the islanders best d-man agrees with me that the team needs a sniper

  • Mark Streit said that? Show me the quote. I'll bet he got an unpleasant call from Garth if he did say that.

We do need more scoring but we need a big, fast, talented defenseman more. And a competitive team needs a potent second line as much as it needs a first line.

  • yeah but i would take Taveres now, while we can... our second line is growing as it is, plus Tavers, Okie, and Baily together i think can do wonders,,, well be able to sign d men once a real, pure sniper comes to the island!!

  • To get big time FA on offense or defense, you need to start winning. Better defense will turn a team into a winner quicker than a goal scorer. And goal scorers are more readily avaiable in FA than franchise defenders.

  • We should draft Hedman first. If I were Garth, I would also trade Hunts to Edmonton for their #10 and grab Zack Kassian. Then draft Klingberg with #26, Paradis with #31 and I have a big, fast, talented, and tough second line.

Then Dylan Olsen or Dmitry Orlov, another bigger talented d-men, Robin Lehner and Mike Lee G prospects, Sami Vatanen, a smaller dman, and Ryan O ' Reilly, a fourth line center.

  • Anyone know what the first song is? :3

Awesome vid... I ove Tavares, but I'm betraying Canada and am rooting for Hedman to go first overall... <3

  • As an Islander fan, I am hoping and praying that we pick Big Victor....and Jacob Josefson...in the first round.

  • thats such a dumb thing to say,

i too am an islander fan but just think about what ur saying, u dont draft a d-man in the entry draft while rebuilding a team, u get d-men because they become free agents, oh btw adrian aucoin is becoming a free agent this year and id rather see the islanders try signing him again and draft tavares first overall

the entry draft is best for getting fowards

free agents signing is where the islanders should get their d and goalies

  • Clearly you do not know much about building a hockey team or about Islander history. If you did you would know that franchise defesemen--which is what Victor Hedman is--are far more rare than quality forwards such as Tavares. You would also know that the principal building block of the great Islander Cup winners of the 1980s was Denis Potvin--drafted #1 overall in 1973. Denis was possibly the greatest defenseman of all time.

  • As things stand now, with the team doing as poorly as it has, the finances being what they are, we are unlikely to attract big time free agents and Wang is unlikely to spend the money on getting them here. The only way we are likely to get a defenseman of Hedman's quality here for the foreseeable future is by drafting him.

Aucoin is a has been. Don't want him. If I do try to sign a FA defender, it would be Johnny Oduya. With Hedman, Streit, and Hillen, he could make this a really good defense

  • JT might be a nice player on a team that has a better defense and isn't trying to implement a system that places a virtue on speed and agility--which Hedman has in abundance and Tavares does not.

  • u can teach some one how to skate, u cant teach some one how to score goals, just like how the islanders drafted mike bossy who was thought of as just another sniper but couldn't play d, even though al arbour always said focus on defense he told bill torey to draft mike bossy cause they can teach him to play d, and a d man wont keep the islanders on the island but a sniper would help alot

  • He will never be as fast as Hedman no matter how much training he gets. You can't teach toughness & character either & the way I have seen him wilt after a couple of hits, I just don't know if he has it.

Winning games will keep the Isles on LI (or in Queens) after 2015. Defense is essential to winning. The Rangers scored just 9 more goals than we did & went in as a #7 because of a much better defense. We need a large, fast, agile defenseman & are unlikely to get one unless we draft Victor

  • so u wanna be more like the rangers?

and also look at the penguins and how they rebuilt their team based around scoring and also just won a cup

  • They rebuilt their team around two centers who are both more talented than Tavares. They also have a bunch of big talented defensemen. Our most talented defensemen are way too small. The bigger ones are less talented, slower and often injured.

  • ok and JT, KO, and JB could be amazing together and the islanders have all ready started the rebuilding with offense first, and the islanders havent had 1 20+ goal scorer this season, and most defensive based teams struggle in the playoffs ever since the lockout a few years ago

  • Teams that need a total rebuild get better quicker through defense than through offense. We many injuries this year. Coach Gordon has expressed satisfaction with the developing players. We should have several 20+ goal scorers in the season to come.

We are rebuilding & most of our developing talent (except Hillen & players who will remain in our system this season) is on offense. Its easier when you make my point for me. Hillen & the prospects are all smaller. We need bigger talented dmen

  • Yea but your not looking at the big picture here.. Taveres is a bigger prospect then Kane was last year. JT was bein compared to sid and gretzky(in terms of their prospect status) since he was 16.. it would be dumb to pass this oppurtunity

  • No one has compared Tavares to Crosby or Gretzky. I AM looking at the big picture...which you are missing. Next year there will be at least two forwards who are as talented as JT if not more so. There are exactly NO defensemen coming up anywhere near as big, talented, and fast as Big Victor. Garth will have other chances to draft a sniper like JT. He may NEVER have a chance to draft a defenseman with Big Victor's skill set, speed, and size.

  • its harder to teach defense then offense, especially on an nhl level (although i agree with you that we should take Taveres over Hedman)

  • HI,

I am going to be moving to Ornskoldsvik from Canada. I am looking for some information and maybe to make some contacts before i arrive in October. Can anyone tell me if there are adult floor hockey leagues in Ornskoldsvik? and also how much does it cost to see a MOdo game? Thanks, Jack

  • I think that the Islanders will be fine for his development. They are committed to rebuilding with young players and they are committed to a system that emphasizes speed, agility, and skating prowess. Robin Figren, who is an Islander prospect, has played with and against him, and knows him well, has said that Victor would be a perfect fit for the Islander system. He will be fine here.

  • The best talent does not go to the better teams unless those teams offer serious assets to the weaker teams. If Hedman wants to play in the NHL (and he does), he will play for whoever drafts him.

  • Hedman has said that he is anxious to play in the NHL and that if the Isles choose him #1 overall (the first Swede since Mats Sundin 19 years ago to be so honored) he would be greatly honored. He will be coming to Long Island the first week of June to meet with management and to go show off his skills. If we pick him, and I hope we do, he will come.

  • About 30 of our losses were in one goal games. Even a slight improvement in our defense might dramatically improve our record.

  • Victor hedman playing with growen men little johnny tavary playing with junior players hedman stronger faster smarter player. Tavares will end up like stevan stamkos not doing very well . Tavares is very slow player but would do ok in the minors. Hedman will be like luke shenn in the nhl next year .

  • small guys have to prove that they can play big guys have to prove that they can't play

  • Isles should draft Hedman, Rundblad, and Erixon. We need to rebuild the D. Lost too many 1 goal games and gave up too many leads late. Hedman, Rundblad, and Marc Streit will add offense as well...esp on the PP.

  • Hedman deffiently deserves #1.

    Not Tavares.

  • send him to detroit so he and lidstrom could play ping pong in the play offs

  • I didn't know he was 6'7, damn.

  • He's a great player just sad he's leaving my home team :(

But he dident tacle as much in the Swedish Elite Seris as in JWM might change when he comes to NHL.

  • great player

  • hedman not hedmund i missheard how they said it

  • forget tavares islanders need this guy tavares wont hold up in the nhl. look at how he scores he stays in the crease nhl calibur defensemen will drop him on his ass. hedmund is a complete player. plus the islanders youth players are coming into thier own they need a franchise defensemen hedmund will complete the team

  • tavares is what the isles need

  • never will it happen but i would love to see him on detroit not tampa. But tampa is in much bigger need so... besides his favorite player is lidstrom. go figure....

  • he is a very talented defender and would be a great player for the lightning

  • We got Stamkos last year and hopefully we will get Hedman this year.

  • to many concusions though ive seen 4 already hel get osme in the nhl obviously

  • ok? Thats random lol

  • OMG! This guy was fuckin brutal in the WJC's this year and last year. OVER RATED!!!!

  • tavares who was born 15 days late to be eligible in the draft class with steven stamkos was rated lower to stamkos by the scouts. stamkos is doing okay by rookie standards. so who ever has the number 1 overall draft just take this guy and be done with it and don't be so damn clever

  • With the point the Avs got tonight, they won't have pole position for the lottery. They could still win, but the odds favor the Isles or Tampa. Thirty six years ago we picked another D man named Denis Potvin and he led us to glory. Could history be repeating itself?

  • cant wait till he gets to the nhl so he can wreck crosbys shit

  • He's 6'6 not 6'7.

  • Awesome. Looks like he will be coming to my town if the GM doesn't blow it. Go Avalanche! We could use him big time.

  • Colorado do have Kevin Shattenkirk as a prospect d-man, but still need more and someone better like Hedman will be very good for the Avs. Also will be good because they have a weak goalie duo of Budaj and Raycroft so Hedman will definetly help them out alot.

  • Tampa still has a chance at getting him, but looks like colorado will be getting him now. Colorado sure could use help offensively also though as sakic is getting old and wolski, smyth, hejduk, stastny isn't enough help and svatos is hardly a top 6 forward. He was much better in his rookie year though. Since all there d-men are quite old Liles being the youngest at 28 and they lost leopold so that made there defense weaker. Salei is 34,Foote is 37,Clark is 32.

  • If I were the Islanders GM, I'd probably take Hedman. Smooth skater with finesse. He plays the two way game extremely well. Tavares is a winner for anyone that picks him. For the Islanders though, they could use some defense more than offense right now. If the Isles get the first pick, Hedman would be their best bet. Given the Islanders' track record on draft picks, they won't take Tavares or Hedman first.

  • He sucked at the Junior tournament..I laughed as all 20,000 people booed him

  • he was injured all tournement

  • is that why he claims that he doesnt use is size because hes an offensive defenceman, but yet he only got 2 points in the whole tournament?

  • He broke the junior defenceman scoring record in the Swedish Elite Leauge this year.

  • The tournament was only 6 games. You act like he played 20 and only registered two points.

He was solid defensively, and was a +4.

  • Hedman is the new Niklas Lidström.

  • whats the name of the 1st song?

  • That would be the almighty Puff Daddy - Come with me! =)

  • I dont care if Tavares goes first. He´s Canadian, and everybody knows how one-sided canadians are about their players. All i know is that Hedman is a more talanted player. It just takes a little bit longer for swedish players to grow up, but when they do...

Just look at the best NHL team last year, a lot of Swedish players who dominated the playoff.

Hedman is the new Niklas Lidström.

  • Look at this size of this guys legs! he's got sooo much growing to do! I bet he'll be 6"7-6"8 250-260LBS when he's 25. I honestly take him over Taveres at this point. I don't think Taveres has a shot at being the next Crosby/Ovechkin, but I do think that Hedman has a good shot at being the next Pronger/Chara. Moves his feet well in all directions for a big guy and his shot is pretty accurate. When you're that big your shot is gonna be hard whether its a slapper or a wristy.

  • he is 6 foot 6 NOT 7

  • you don´t have to look if you don´t like it !

  • 2 minutes of nothing, then a bunch of half decent wrist shots and line changes. hedman will be a good player, but this video was shit.

  • We don't see a players ability with Highlights but with normal sequences, where you can see his general abilities, remember he is 18 at that size, it's impossible that is fully developed muscularaly

  • This dude is fuckin trash haha half his highlights are of him changing line shifts or shooting it right into the tender's chest haha what a tool!

  • blame the guy who made the crap video, not the player

  • When did he shoot the puck in to the tender's chest? I missed that. They only show one shift change. Did we watch the same video?

  • well hedman is a back and tavares is fw u stupid fuuck

  • Not saying Tavares is bad, but most of his points we're in PP (i'm not saying he's bad calm down), and Victor Hedman, has the physic of chara, and got mobility and talent, that means, at 18 we can shape him whatever form we want. I would definitly draft Hedman first.

  • for real, i think hedman has a more physical demension to him. I would take him #1

  • tavares sucked in jwc ánd canada played discusting in the finals . victor hedman is much better

  • lol, he was the scoring leader for the whole fucking tourney until some point in the final game, and also got voted MVP.

those FACTS make your opinion incredibly stupid.

get a grip on reality you dumb cheerleader.

  • lol what game did you watch? damn you would think by now the jealousy would be over, but no still bitter that are team was just better. We ruled the WHOLE tourney. Tavares MVP of the tourney!

  • That's why Eberle had to score with 6 seconds left vs Russia to save our asses.

  • maybe but I was at almost every game and Canada just dominated the tourney. We didnt lose a game and say what you want about cheating or favoritism but most refs were from europe. Dont down play that Eberle scored with 6 seconds left. It was amazing. Blame the russian goalie if you want to blame someone. Hedman is amazing I would pick him in a second just as I would Tavares. But the fact is Hedman actually didnt do much in the whole tourney. Anyone who says otherwise didnt see all his games

  • Hedman was invisible in the wjc

  • Why didn't you watch the games?

  • yeah..I wouldn't be saying that if I didn't. I haven't seen him play in Sweden though

  • im not saying hedman is bad

im sayin JT is a better pick!

  • time will prove me right.....

  • guess you deleted my post saying

    72 goals

    134 points

    as a 17 year old!

  • whats the song in the beginning called

  • i don't think he will go before tavares in the draft

but he will be a better player in the NHL in the long run

  • JT is going 1st overall

Hedman wont be a better player in the long run

Tavares has a skill that everyteam wants

no matter who is drafting 1st overall they will take John Tavares

  • 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m)

    227 lb (103 kg; 16 st 3 lb)

    and plays Defence

    man !! come on

  • 72 Goals

    62 Assists

    134 Points

......oh did i mention he was only 17 when he did that!

  • Yeah but watching the world juniors, he got knocked around. His balance didn't seem all that great.

  • we will see lil swedish person

  • hedman is the best and will go before tavares in the draft

  • lol ok

  • taveres is better

  • Hedmon may well be bound for a great career, but you certainly can't tell based on this video. This looked more like a fashion show. I'm disappointed. Practice twirls and a sweaty gym work out. Seriously? Where are the goals, the hits, the defensive play? It's about as absent here as it was in the tournament. Meanwhile Tavares was the real deal. I've been wrong before... but I can't see Hedmon being the bigger impact player.

  • sam gagner was not in the team :/

  • I'm a Canadian and I still appreciate that this guy is talented, especially for his age. Hype fucks a lot of things up and paints unreal expectations..if you buy into that kind of stuff.I appreciate talent and dedication no matter where a player comes from..what race he is.. or whether or not he 'plays for the team i like' because he doesn't.Nonetheless he is a guy working hard at what he loves..his dream. And he's doing it better than we ever could. This hatred and comparison game is childish

  • John Tavares will go 1st Overall.

    Cool video though.

  • hedman did not look good this tournament. he certainly did not live up to the hype. tavares on the other hand owned this tournament, along with hodgson and eberle.

  • and in this tournament Canada had 8 players unable to play bec there NHL teams wouldnt let them. It was canadas B team.

  • all the europeans should shut the fcuk up. Every single fucking canadian team runs the europeans out of the rink with a simple forecheck. Come to canada, hockey is life. HARD AS FUCK

  • yeah well you lowlife scum only have hockey in your pathetic country, you suck in everything else

  • haha ok sweden is good at what?

  • What you mean? plz answere

  • Uhm, lemme think.... Ice hockey? Soccer? handball? Floorball? Tennis? (Got the olympic gold in Peking) All the wintersports/skiingsports comparing to Canada?

Canada is only good at hockey, and you got like, what, 33 million habitants?

  • handball, floorball. you should have been a blow job those arent sports. check the numbers. salt lake city, canada 17 medals (4th overall)... sweden 7 medals (20th) overall. turin canada 24 medals (5th overall)... sweden 14 medals... SHUT UP

  • So you actually took the time to look it up, congrats, you just proved to me that you are lowlife scum

and those arent sports because..... Canada sucks at 'em?

  • is there a pro handball league with more than an average attendance of 44 people? yeah it took me 2 minutes. high speed in canada bud, get with it

  • lol maybe sweden is #2 exporter of potassium. all other countries besides Kazakhstan have inferior potassium

  • he did shit all tonight got booed every time he touched the puck should have had a penalty when he headlocked and punched the canadian player and IS NOT GOING TO BE THE NEXT CHRIS PRONGER so give your head a shake also tavares was on the ice everytime heddman was and usually ended in a goal

  • Well he got booed BECAUSE he rightfully punched a Canadian player who run over his teams goalie, can you honestly tell me the Canadian players wouldn't have done the same? The booing says more about the bad sportsmanship of the Canadian audience than him.

  • the next Chris Pronger? I sure hope not! Chris Pronger sucks man.

Everybody speak so much about Tavares, i think that Cody Hodgson and Jordan Eberle were awesome.

  • Chris Pronger is one of the best d-men in the NHL, especially if you include in the intimidation factor he brings.

  • Victor Hedman will destroy Tavares! Sverige äger!

  • canada won

  • tavares is good player

    please no disrespect

  • dudes a tank

  • Who they would pick at no. 1

    NYI-Hedman

    ATL-Tavares

    FLA-Tavares

    TBL-Hedman

    STL-Tavares

    LAK-Tavares

    TOR-Tavares

  • Tavares vs Hedman TOMORROW! :D

  • hedman owns tavares!!!

  • I gotta say I'm not that impressed by Hedman's game in the JWC thus far. However, he's been playing with offensive minded Erik Karlsson which gives Victor little room for his own offensive endavours. Also I think the pressure is getting to him a bit.

Against Russia he played with stay at home defender Rundblad and hopefully that will elevate Victor's game a bit. I hope he' saving his best efforts for when it matters the most!

  • It reminds me of Lidstrom playing with Rafalski. Rafalski has taken the offensive part in the duo this year while Lidstrom has had to play a more defensive game. It looks worse on paper, but to have a player that is able to do both of them, to read the situation and know his place, that is worth a lot.

He did step down from position at least one time during the game aganist slovakia and nearly scored if it were not for the the Slovak goalie (who has been the best foalie of the tournament).

  • Kid is an absolute beast. Can't wait to see him in the NHL!

  • Tavares is the better player.

  • Guys guys guys, you cant just say that Tavares will go first or Hedman, cuz its all about witch team who will pick the first! Hedman has amazing skating skillz and is a what i would call "Swedish Wiking", but on the other hand we have Tavares who has got excellent skillz with the puck, and scoring ability i havent seen before! So i will call it a draw, but i think that Tavares will be the NO.1 though every team needs a goalscorer!

  • Prediction:

If TBL get's first then they will take Hedman, NYI get's will take Tavares, ATL would probably take Tavares as well and OTT would definetly take Hedman.

  • hedman is number 1..

  • Skating isn't really Tavares strongest side, but his play intelligence and passing is just fenomenal.

  • Sorry Hedman but Tavares is going #1

  • hes a beast but after seeing what tavares has done during the WJC he is NO. 1

  • #GeorgeandMerdolf.

"after seeing what tavares has done during the WJC he is NO. 1" Lol.. Can´t beleive that you're even saying that. Look at the teams Canada´s been facing.. If he is as brilliant against a better standing team, then ok.

  • Should have waited for the U.S vs Canada game before saying something like that.

  • wow i bet u feel pretty stupid now. how did tavares do last night... oh did he score 3 goals im not sure? is he good enough now.. just shows u know nothing about hockey

  • tavares can't skate and is only good on the powerplay

hedman will be selected 1st overall

  • your joking right? if your not then you know nothing about hockey.

  • macbook flyers??? nice name buddy

tavares is only good on the powerplay, why don't you watch the world juniors there buddy

hedman is a shutdown defencemen and thaats what most teams are wanting

im not saying that hedman is better than tavares, they play different positions and contribute in different ways retard

  • your a fucking retard. why dont you watch a game instead of looking at stats. i have seasons tickets for the generals and see tavares play 30+ games a season. tavares plays powerplays, shorthanded, and dominates 5on5. he also is very good on his faceoffs. so why dont you watch him play before you fucking talk. pussy ass bitch, thinking he knows what he's talking about. ps,what kind of name is krossfire9393, u fucking flaming faggot.

  • OHL and even AHL is on a way lower skill level than ESL. Scouts look for future talent when they look at players in the OHL, and Tavares has a lot of talent, probably more so than Kane and Toews. He could definetly fill the spots needed in NYI which will probably get the first pick.

ESL and RSL are competiting for the second most competetive leauges in the world. So when they look at players in these leauges they are already proven players, and that is the upside with Hedman, there's no gamble.

  • ure a fucking idiot, you have probally never even watched an ohl game in your life. all european hockey is full of people who cant make the nhl, or who have left the nhl because they suck. the chl is full of the top nhl prospects every year. european hockey is the worst hockey ive ever watched, some of the guys have huge talent but they are pussies, its full of diving and cheapshots. did you see alexander semin's fight the other day.. that was a disgrace to hockey.. no that was a disgrace to men

  • What I said is line with what scouting central says. The CHL is full of PROSPECTS, players with POTENTIAL, but it is a junior leauge. That is why scouts when looking at the CHL look at future talent and when they look at the ESL AND RSL they know players playing there are already proven.

Taking penalties isn't a good thing, that's what morons that can't skate or play do. I don't know why Canadians take pride in having terrible dicipline. I don't see Sean Avery as a very good hockey player...
