Simply amazing... I've already told Anatole we're all waiting you here in Brazil, specially in Paulinia Theater and Sao Paulo Credicard Hall. We'll have good news soon...
Could you all come and play sometime in Amerika? Ich spiele Tenor, Alto, und Sapran. You all are my idols :) Seriously, I love you guys a lot and I would love to learn from masters such as yourselves :) And if you were to come to Raleigh, we have a wonderful theater here. Meymandi Concert Hall is one of the best on the east coast of Amerika.
can't get this out of my head. i love this i want to play this on my saxophones. might be to hard get to that standard. nearly legally able 2 teach sax soon but man u guys r to good it will be a long time before i reach that level. but you guys r great inspirations.
Correction: Bah, my bad... I said wrongly on left hand side only on Yanagisawa. Yanagisawa made right hand side Low B & Bb. I just can tell from the neckpipe...
Soprano Sax with Low B & Bb on left hand side, well no doubt that only Yanagisawa. It is more reliable one. Alto & Tenor Saxophone is Yamaha, hehe... some sponorship? I would say personal taste. Baritone Sax rather Yamaha or Yanagisawa? Oops, I am not sure who is using Selmer Tenor Sax, Tom or Andreas? hehe sorry.
@ariksax - hi there! nice to see you're interested in playing the sax:-) If one day you play this piece faster, would be nice to hear it. Perhaps you can post it on Youtube. Keep swinging and practising the scales:-)
It feels weird at the beginning of the recitaling, when you imagine how string works in this arrangement and compare to how those saxophonists do the best to mimic the sound of string,
I'm digging the string quartet like timbre that these guys are getting (with those metal mouthpieces). The 1st soprano has a great violin-like sound : ) to bad there's not more saxes in symphonic orchestras
well to start, i think classical mouthpieces for classical music would be rather appropriate. the articulation is just horrible and not together. etc etc etc.
this is a step backwards for classical saxophonists everywhere.
This is a live recording. Even over my NAIM hifi it sounds weird. I agree, the articulation is occassionally flawed, but the use of the adjective "horrible" disqualifies your comment and is in stark contradiction with the audience's applause. Perhaps you could post some of your perfectly articulated playing with your ensemble as a reference.
What is your real feeling? Envy? Quintessence is not a classical quintet. I#s not a jazz Quintet. It's unique Quintessence! Look for a live performance in your country and you will see: This ensemble is unbelievable. Thanks.
Magnificent!!!!!

Yeah, I cringe a little too. These guys aren't doing classical saxophone any favors, that's for certain.
