  • im talkin about intallen the intercooler myself is it a easy task

  • @dchrish Its not too difficult you do need to take the front end apart, we charge 3.5 hours for the project in our shop.

  • is this like a plug and play job bc i want upgrade but apr charge to much to intall i was wounderin can this be done by me without messin somethin up

  • @dchrish You should probably clarify which component you are talking about before we can post a helpful reply-

  • why are burly mechanics listening to miley cyrus?? lol haha nice build. yall made it look easy

  • Watched the install video and this one amazing product and I don't even own a GTI. One important thing though for those watching, WEAR SAFETY GLASSES!!! It amazes me how many people have no sense of safety especially working underneath something!

  • will the intercooler make a different in power

  • will this fit on the 2012 GLI

  • where is the radiator? is it that black panel in front of the intercooler?? im going to buy this car in a few weeks - 2012 white GTI 2 door :)

so i guess the Forge Twintercooler retains this intercooler, and adds the other intercooler ,, making it look righteous behind the lower honeycomb grille

  • @gamrkidd The radiator is furthest in closest to the engine, the AC condenser is front of the intercooler.

  • you can so do this at home.

  • Love working on new cars its so easy and clean

  • @KILLZONE2ps3 Yep they almost do the work for you...

  • Lol "Dude Looks Like a Lady" at 5:25

  • can you clarify that comment from above @FutrellAutoWerks

I own an 08 mkv gti, upgraded the fuel pump and several bolt ons, i don't recall needed to upgrade the injectors unless i switched to a 2871 Garrett turbo. if i wanted just the APR intercooler nothing else was required. I mean the car is FSI theres no need for upgrading injectors, it would be different if we were talking about a 1.8t Mkiv model

  • @otty390 The full build series includes a APR Stage III get, the same Stage III kit for the FSI requires an injector swap (and fuel pump swap)

  • @Spencaaaaaaa You've got the better engine for sure. For Stage III the APR intercooler is the best choice, if you were going to do the basic bolt ons, or even a K-04 the S3 intercooler is the better choice.

  • @Spencaaaaaaa Depends on the motor, if its a 08.5/09 its basically the same, if its a 06-08 its quite different, requiring fuel injectors, fuel pump, etc.

  • wow... didnt realise it was such a big job...

  • Clean install guys. Nicely done.

  • i get my GTI tomorrrrrow. Picking it up in the morning...

I'm gonna look for a quality shop like you guys once i start fixing it up!! can't wait. great video guys

  • Awesome work! First thing I noticed is the nice clean organized shop! Definitely a huge plus sign!

  • how much would it be to stage3 a 2008 GTI? labor and parts

  • @canitovega 2008 could be a FSI or a TSI, if its a TSI you have $700 install, $4995 kit, and I'd recommend a FMIC (S3 or APR $350 or $1100 + install) as well as a Stage 2 center pipe $350, if its an FSI you'll need the Stage III kit, fuel pump, FMIC and a more expensive install - you'd be in the FSI kit over $8K/installed.

  • Thanks, this video is helping me do my own today.

  • @TheLastHumanOnEarth Awesome, enjoy your kit!

  • The job looks extremely neat

  • I want one sooooo bad.

  • When I installed my intake, I had to sand some of the carbon fiber around the opening to fit the filter inside the main plenum. Anyone else have this problem?

  • u guys are f*&^%$ amazing

nice work really, XD im thinking of shipping my car to u guys for some mods, :( the sad part is no modifications are allowed in here (UAE)

    keep it up folks

  • now that's what i call real auto mechanics. not only do they deal with reparing and upgrading the car, but they do a lot of careful handling with the parts being removed. the VW dealership i went to, just didn't care at all in fixing my car, they broke some parts of my car's bumper after installing it back.

  • very very gorgeous :)

  • Does anyone know where can I buy the string and intake?

  • @mike12369872 What's the string? We sell the intake on our website futrellautowerks

  • how much hp/torque is gained with this mod?

  • There's two upgrades occurring here: One the larger intercooler to help us maintain some HP we lose from heat soak. Two is the Carbonio intake system, its good for 10-20 HP depending on the other tuning of the car. Its one of (if not the) largest HP gains we've seen from an intake system in a long time, definitely recommend it even if you only change just the intake on your car you'll feel its gains on a completely stock engine.

  • @veedubyaman

Its not really a hp gain with the intercooler. I think the best thing about it, even with stock turbo, you don't have such a boost drop at higher RPM's. Higher RPM means more air to push, and the turbo cannot keep up and push enough air to keep boost up. With a bigger intercooler you will get cooler air, more dense air, so at higher RPM's when the turbo cannot get to the waste gate boost limit, this will allow the turbo to push more air in, more air means more boost and more hp.

  • @SuperleggeraVW Ok, I was just gonna keep to myself but it's making my head hurt. Your response, first sentence and last sentence "Its not really a hp gain with the intercooler. " and "this will allow the turbo to push more air in, more air means more boost and more hp. " So, how does it not make more horsepower, and make more horsepower at the same time? This is a rhetorical question of course.

  • @8literbeater Your right. But the reason I said "its not really a horsepower gain" (note I didn't say it doesn't gain) is because upgrading an inter cooler is usually considered something that needs to be down to optimist other upgrades. On a stock engine other then at the very top of the rev range (where boost drops) hp isn't really gained. It will do better throughout the rev range on hot days though, where there will be less power loss compared to a stock inter cooler.

  • @SuperleggeraVW Ok I understand what you're sayin now. It doesn't make a higher peak horsepower number, but basically improves the available power under certain conditions where it would normally be less efficient. Got it.

  • Hey what kind of piping is that for the carbonio? I know its not the stage 2 pipe because it looks different?

  • @musicISlyf1 Thats the Stage III plumbing, see other videos for the full build.

  • how has the carbonio intake been? Im about to buy an intake and i want to know if it has been a cost effective part.

  • if i out this in will it decrease my engines life at all or make it have problems in the future

  • Definitely not.

  • turbocharger wastegate blow off valve exhaust system headers still need to be on this thing

  • Dont' forget the whistle tips woo wooo

  • do you have to be a pro to do a turbo install

  • @Fred88hg No, but it certainly helps. Both the APR turbo upgrade and the intercooler come with detailed step by step installation manuals. A proper selection of tools is required.

  • Guy just a question because I have an MK6 GTI Its concerning the APR Carbonio Intake, since it's a cold air intake where is it getting the air from since there's no hood scoop?

  • There is an opening in the grille that directs air directly into the filter, simillar to the MK5 and most Audis (A4, S4, RS4)

  • cold air doesnt mean hood scoop it means air thats not heated by the engine dee dee deee

  • NASTY! watch out here she comes.

  • Be careful with my new bumper Dean! ;-)
