  • @1alohakat I was just kidding man...to tell you the fact india has not won as many medal in last 10 years as she herself in 2 olympics. last olympic india 3 medals, last to last 1, last to last to last 0. (1 billlion poor people)

  • @abksharma Dude...She didn't say she competed in 11 Olympics. She's an 11 times Olympic Medalist which means she medaled 11 times. Five of these were in the 2004 Olympics and Six were in the 2008 Olympics. Five + Six = Eleven.

  • @1USKIWI I was just kidding...LOL...

  • what did she say ? i didnt listen

  • nice ass

  • Thank you Dana & Natalie.

What I think I have discovered is a form or Yoga & Swimming.

A 'Wet Yoga' would be a good term.

Blending yoga & swimming in 1 fluid movement which seems to come more naturally devoid of the limitations of gravity.

Since core strength is the foundation of all health I wondered if a Monofin would accentuate building core strength?

  • Natalie;

My question: I started for the 1st time & have now been consistantly swimming 1650m a day for the last 6 months.

I have reached a plateau where I seem to be moving at the exact same speed regardless of how much I paddle (My best time being 37 minutes).

I suspect that the wall I have hit is due to core weakness.

So I backed off watching my time and have focused on perfecting my technique.

Would you recomend a monofin to develop core strength. - Rex Hardesty

  • @rexhardesty Hey Rex - Natalie gets a lot of these questions and isn't always able to answer them all. But I'm a swimmer (even have part of my degree in athletic coaching with an emphasis on swimming) First off plateaus in training are just a part of the process, no matter how stellar your training program, you're going to reach spots where you feel you've leveled off. My suggestion to you would be to train at different speeds. Fins may help with that, but if you're consistently trudging

  • @rexhardesty (cont'd) through 1650, with no variance, your muscles will adapt to that and not know how to do anything different. Mixing up shorter, faster sets with slower recovery sets can get your muscles trained to go faster while also building up the endurance you need. Also, I'd suggest trying to hook up with a masters program in your area, most will let you drop in on a class or 2 so you can ask the coach a few specific questions about your training. Hope that helps! Dana ~ H2OAudio

  • @rexhardesty Dear abby, have u consider that you are fat and useless swimmer?. if only you push to the last mile more and stfu and listen, things would have been different. take that as an advice and swim on

  • @Meowws stfu and listen is good advice for anyone for almost anything;-)

  • @bitterclinger100 , are you like 12 years old? grow up and learn from a male PRO. only idiots will learn from female. there's not a single female in history invented things nor achieve excellence in sports and clearly her technics are for kids like you. am i right little boy?

  • she was not doing her arm action ryt

she did not bend her hand

  • Nice. More women should swim in a two piece.

One time a girl in a bikini showed up at the swim club to do laps and suddenly all the guys in the other lanes needed to take a "breather"

  • thenoblequran (Ctrl+Enter)

  • shes gorgeous!

  • the best thing to do is have no tits.

  • Great, helpful information. I've swam in US Masters meets, which was a great experience for me. Listening to this tip from Natalie should help me improve with my kicking in future meets. Natalie is a beautiful swimmer. She has inspired me to stick with swimming and to continue to improve.

  • In her backstroke races she has an underwater dolphin kick that is truly amazing. She moves through the water like a projectile....it's incredible.

  • haha im in water polo and i don't kick my feet. bad habit.

  • Yeah, but this advice does not apply to endurance swimming :-S

The amount of extra propulsion gained from a constant and powerful kick vs the oxygen wasted by the huge leg muscles is really not worth it unless you are sprinting. Hence the 2-beat kick's applicability, etc.

  • @psyhar I can only use 4-6 beat kick for the first 25m, after that my leg get tired or I lose my balance between stroke and kick, so after that I use 2 beat kick to complete the lap (50m pool). I wonder how regular young swimmer I watch can do the 4-6 beat kick continuously during their 16-20 lap (one lap length is 50m).

  • @psyhar could you explain more please?

  • @psyhar In the 70s that would have made perfect sense. These days, however, if you watch the top milers in the word, they all have a steady 6 beat kick. Swimmers train much more now than they did 30 years ago, and distance swimming has evolved to account for this. If you aren't able to hold a constant 6 beat kick for a 1500, you're going to have a hard time keeping up. Not saying it's impossible, but you'll be at a huge disadvantage if you don't concentrate on the kick.

  • @psyhar When she was in high school, she had a torn labrum and decided against surgery. Waiting for it to heal she used to swim 3 mile workouts using nothing but her kick!

  • Natalie coaches like she dances, great!

  • i love her

  • I swim here! It's RSD (rancho san dieguito) boys and girls club in San diego. I saw her do this!

  • hehe 2 piece.

  • Cool.

  • wow.....really?????? i have a horrible kick, but great upper body strength

  • me too and i couldve of been first so many times

  • a two piece? lol thats just asking for some "hot" comments. still quite useful for beginners though

  • awesome

  • shes hot

  • nice !!!
