  • Thats only going to be around $4 in scrap copper at the most

  • Don't forget about the Flyback transformer.....that holds enough electricity to KILL YOU!!!!!!!!!

  • @Barakuda318 -- sorry barakuda, the transformer will store zero charge. The only thing that will retain a charge are CAPACITORS, and the picture tube in some cases will act as a large capacitor.

  • YEAh thats great but # 2 coopper is about 2.50 a lb and you'll be lucky to get 2 lb.'s off a tv so you'll be burning that up in gas just to get to the scrap yard. Great video though

  • if you want to make some money online check out my page it is free to join and only takes 10 to 15mins a day to do

  • This is one of the most irresponsible videos I've ever seen. Where did the cover screws go? Did you throw them on the ground for animals to swallow, and tear up their insides? Why didn't you ground the anode? High voltage can stay in a TV for days, even weeks. What do you do with the 99.9% of the TV after you've taken the copper out? The glass in those picture tubes is valuable, contains lead, and should be recycled by someone who knows how to do it.

  • @A3Kr0n -- I agree that it's shameful to litter the ground with screws, but have you ever seen an animal actually EAT A SCREW? Really? I tried to feed my dog a bowl of screws and the only way I could get him to eat them was pouring rabbit blood over them like gravy. Oh... forgot to mention, the rabbit blood came from a dead rabbit in the backyard. He was already dead so I recycled his blood. I think he died from eating a screw he found on the ground.

  • i cut the cord of my tv, and i started to unsrew the screws, but it would took to long, so i used a slegd hammer and i aslo broke the tube and tv started smoking:)

  • Losers

  • there isnt gas in tvs all it is is the vacume being released from the tube

  • dang dude.

plz before because there still so many volts on it for years and it will knock you out easy.

  • Thanks for all the views and feedback !!!!

  • lol yall didnt discharge it?

  • im sure every 1 wants to know how much u guys made from that 1 tv

  • @youngrelleus19 doubtful they made more than a couple bucks. copper is around a buck a pound scrap value i believe. only tweekers do this shit, because they are up all night anyway and need collect money any way they can for their next bowl of meth. and they could care less about lead, pcb's and other nasties in old electronics.

  • how much did u make

  • Breaking the glass neck of the tube makes a mess and is not necessary to remove the yoke. Just loosen the clamp and slide it off. If you're concerned about removing the vacuum in the picture tube (BTW, there are no "gasses" inside. The hissing you hear is air ENTERING the tube), you can remove the anode cap, and tap a small hole in the center of the metal seal there with a punch and hammer. Much less messy... and then if someone later breaks the glass, it will not implode.

  • @haywire17

I could not have said it better, but let me add this.

All these old TV's can be scrapped without puncturing the tube .. the top PCB can be pulled of .. then 2 clamps (screwed) for the yolk ..Most of the copper is in the degaussing cable the stretches around the tube ( usually a fat black one) did you miss that one ? or is it just not in the vid? ..

  • This video is unrealistic, you have to take apart 20 tvs/monitors or more just to get 5lbs of copper... if that. You don't have to break the tube to get that yoke off...Your doing more harm than good.

  • @ArcadeGames no. each TV might got little over 1lb of copper.

  • @JPMorganSuckBalls I highly doubt that... Maybe 6-12 ounces of copper at the max!

  • Comment removed

  • Hey I know that scrap yard. It's in Milford Ohio right? I used to drive past it on the way to school 2 years ago. lol

  • All that to make what? $5 ? Go get a real job! LOL!

  • Nuts lol

    Screws LOL

  • As more and more American jobs go to China, Mexico and SE Asia, the cost of American labor begins to plummet as well. As our paychecks continue to shrink, our time becomes less and less valuable - making it more and more profitable to spend the time it takes to scrap an old TV. Scrapping electronics has become a significant industry in poor countries with cheap labor and few jobs - like China, India and now, America.

Welcome to 21st century America, folks!

    Welcome to America in 2011

  • @fhqwgads2 yup! you are right!

  • wow this video has more views than wild klute....thanks for all the feedback.

  • not to mention the lead dust....?

  • yeah but what do you do with 100 CRT's low grade PCB and assorted plastics

  • Kool I guess but i usually scrap about 75-100 TV's before I turn it all in.

  • @OzzyCooperManson How much money do you get scraping 100 TV's?

  • @Joseph9536 Well last month with copper around $4 a pound I would make about $1,500 on the scrap from 100 sets if you add in the aluminum/ iron too. But now copper has plummeted to $2.15 a pound so its not quite so profitable right now.

  • No gases in a CRT, and you can release the vacuum far easier than that.

Get a screwdriver, put it in the hole in the end (where the pcb mounts) and hit it with your fist.

You break off a tiny glass bead used to vacuum out all the gases inside, no shards all over your lawn.

  • very helpful thanks man

  • So, how much cash did you make?

  • The TV tube doesn't have gasses in it, it's a vacuum and the sound you hear when it's broken is air entering the tube.

  • quickest and easiest way to scrap a tv for copper.....step one get a shotgun, step two go into the woods , step 3 shoot the fucking thing, step 4 remove copper and throw out the rest...... see guys you make money and have fun plus some screens really explode when hit with a slug

  • ever heard of a drill

  • These guys are Statler and Waldoff from the Muppet show. Took an hour and half to strip it for copper I'd say. Hardly 1kg in copper in it. Even if there was that's $5-6 for a minimum hour. Wouldn't it been easier to just flipp burgers in McDonalds. If ye were smart guys ye should have gone to college.

  • @boscoesarmy the people in this video do not know how to take apart a tv- read this blog- scrappingmetal.blogspot.com and you will find that full time you can make 40,000 a year- thats way more than minimum wage and Mcdonalds does't even pay that. Also- have you ever heard of all the people going to collage with all this debt, not getting a job and going back to the same place as before. COLLAGE DOES NOTHING-why don't you watch the collage conspiracy video, don't believe me, then spend your money

  • @1234build You probally can make that working full time at it with a van or pick up. The thing is though,Alot of people will not do it because it demeans them. People is society have a basic human need for respect amoungst their peers. They have a human need for a certain status that comes with a "Respectable" job. Am I willing to be seen looking in dumpsters for scrapped electrical items and scrap metal ? Answer is probally not. I feel my peers would think I was bum and a loser.

  • @boscoesarmy I can see that, but with me, most of my friends have similar intrests and would see it as a decent way to make money and possibly more fun than Mcdonalds, probably because we are only teenagers but it depends on who you are too. The way I see it is that if people are throwing away this metal (because they do not realize its value, do not want to take the time to collect it,or because they or their peers would find it weird) and I am willing to collect it, because I would find it fun

  • Wow! This video has almost as many views as WILD KLUTE!

  • its actually not gas. the tv is vacuum sealed its the air getting INTO the glass

  • "Then take it to your local recycling center and they will pay you... FOUR DOLLARS AND THIRTY-SIX CENTS IN CASH?!?? REALLY?!?! Do you realize how long we spent unwinding all that wire?! And-and... the SCREWS!!! There were so many SCREWS!! That was an entire hour and a half right there!!"

And then you rob the place! The End.

    Good job, guys!
