Whenever a crime story is reported, if it was a black man, they rarely mention race; they don't even hesitate to mention when it's whitey. I am reminded of a news story a couple years ago where a man brought a gun to an anti-Obama rally -- the media showed a close-up of the gun and called him a "racist." Turns out he was black.

This claim can rightfully be made of any racial group. The main complaint that is popular now is the disproportionate argument made by many that have a need to morally escalate their race. I do not know where you reside but that has NEVER been my experience. If you are asserting this is the current state of affairs abouts America you would be hard press to submit verifiable proof. This may be your personal experience that may tied in to a belief system or not, but I have never witnessed any mainstream press agency censor racial identification.

A white swamp dweller in Louisana is very different than Surfer dude in California. Culture is diverse and a wonderful thing. I don't give a damn about white, black or coffee colored skin. Cultures always evolve but the diversity I care about is in culture and all cultures are rich in in. No one culture is better than another.
