@Atleeable most likely, someone at the advanced level of Buckethead doesn't need to see his instrument clearly, he can soar merely by feel/instinct. Your comment about his guitar is not entirely accurate. It's not a fretless guitar, it doesn't have fret markers, (on the fingerboard) (there may be markers on the topside of the neck where the fingerboard laminates to the neck) however, the frets are there.
