Yes...yes! To answer your question in the side bar on serendipitous ~ with making vids. I had that happen several times before. Of course I've had a bad habit of removing my vids after some time, so they are not up currently. But its so great when things fall together as if they were just meant to be.
This song is classically great and you have a really nice voice.
syd.. this isn't just good.. it's excellent. i have been with you since the beginning.. but i don't comment much. your growth through this medium is... beautiful.
Syd!! That was beautiful. .. I got to see Tears For Fears farewell concert a few years back and they showcased this song. It wasn't their biggest hit, but after seeing the 10 minute version and the feeling that went into it, I concluded that it was their best. Jim
I love this song too, Syd. I loved it ever since I heard it on NCIS. I was like, "What IS that?" It makes me feel bittersweet. I don't know how else to describe it really. It just does something to my brain. It's thought provoking at times. You did an awesome job with it. 5*!
Syd this was beautiful! You remind me of some popular women singers in the 1970's (Karen Carpenter)...when music was crisp, clean, and beautiful like this.
That's one of my favorite songs and it goes well with the video. I can definatly relate although the clown was a bit freaky lol. It was very meaningful and is the song of my life.
Same here- song of my life, along with some others that are bit more upbeat. This song has always haunted me and the vid very nearly created itself. Thanks Jennifer!
I'm not sure- there's nothing near it to indicate a story but she's full of symbolism in the apple being hidden behind her back and what seems to me to be almost a flirtatious stance. The elongated features, I think, are an abstraction of what the artist may see as the divine feminine- I say "divine" given the apple. Maybe she's Eve?
Great work in the editing department Syd. The timing and fades were done very well with that song.I liked the fade in's of you singing. then out again to more wonderful images. Loved it as you can tell.
I loved this song when "Tears for Fears" did the original. I loved it when Gary Jules redid it and it was used in Donnie Darko. And now I love Syd's hauntingly beautiful version. Thanks so much for posting this, it truly is magical and the harmonies are wonderful...just like you! (((hugs))) One of those sculptures reminded me of a Henry Mooore sculpture, I wonder if it was?
I do love the original, but Jules...there's just something sublime about his subdued vocals. There's a vulnerability there- I think that's what it is! Yeah, can't say my vocals were subdued, lol but I'm glad you liked it!
And YES, that is indeed an Henry Moore piece. It's owned by the Shidoni Foundary in Tesuque, a little mountain town just outside Santa Fe. Good catch!
So nice Syd. Beautifully haunting images and I love your melodies! You are very good at this video business and I have never been disappointed with any of yours that I've watched. You always seem to touch a place in me in need of being touched . Thank you for another wonderful vid!
One of the best videos I've seen in a good long while. You always make excellent videos, Syd, but you've outdone yourself this time. And you can sing, girl... !! :)
Holy bejeezus! Thanks! That's awfully sweet. I used to sing "back in the day" lol, I'm kidding but then again, I always hear radio dj's refer to 80's music as "classic" so maybe "back in the day" IS appropriate! I mean, what does that make The Beatles- "antique"?
m'gosh, Sue- that's awfully sweet of ya, but this is just a hobby and it's enough to just share it with a small number of people here and on the other side of the fence. Thanks for that, though!
wow Syd. I was really moved by this video - can't explain it but I sort of had an out of body and then came back. Good grief you have a great voice, especially like the harmonies.
I can imagine how you felt while editing this seeing the footage you chose.
An artist friend of mine pointed out that even thought these visuals hold meaning for me on a deeply personal level, they're universal in what they evoke. I'm really glad you tapped into that, Lesley. Thanks
Thanks, Maureen. That means a lot to me. Editing in this context is like layering a collage, it seems- each layer lending meaning to what's underneath and vice versa.
Holly, I'm so glad you connected with it on that level. It's really weird how it created itself- not that it's anything super-incredible, but the visuals were just random vids I'd recently taken and when I threw them together, they spoke volumes about what was going on with me. If I'd planned it out, it would've never taken that shape. I love this medium for that reason.
it's with a great pleasure that i review that wonderful video & it's also a great pleasure to have found you here on YT :-).
You are one of the most impressive person i have met on the web.
health & love
