Discovering Bigfoot

You did a really good job with letting Mike talk. From another person who's interested in Bigfoot, I'd like to see some different theories besides the Giganto/Bering Strait idea. I'm sorry, it's just too farfetched- apes simply don't turn into humans, no matter how long you wait, whether it be 10,000 or 100,000 years. Not without some sort of manipulation from the "outside" would you ever get any kind of hybrid or offshoot.

@flapjack9999 I've been back to visit Mike a couple of times since this video, and he's quite open and welcoming to all sorts of theories, and has suggested that it might be a combination of different phenomenon contributing to the bigfoot legend, including feral humans and un-discovered animal species. He's really a fascinating guy, and has convinced me it's more than just "urban legend" going on here. i don't know what it is, but I'm fascinated whatever.

I totally agree with you about a soft line, the science community have set them self’s up as god like in such decisions, we can see the need for proof yes, but to state so firmly almost ridiculing of people who do see something different, Is wholly wrong of science, indeed they do this with all manner of matters across the spectrum. Wrong of them I feel.

I kinda know what you mean. I had a sighting with my father and my sister when I was around 8 or nine and I never forgot it. I still have nightmares. We were no more than 10 to fifteen foot from a mature male. It crossed in front of us . We were on a tractor comming back from a field and it stood in front of us , looked stright at us and then crossed over to woods next to the road we were on.

Evolution does can prove Bigfoot is real. Say there is 3 branches. One Monkies to apes, gorrillas. Another Mokies to Humans. The third into a cross breed Bigfoot. But most scientists just push that theory away because it is "higly unlikely" but so was that phreistoric fish(forgot the name but it's really long) still being alive. Which it is.

I agree, and there are "new" species discovered all the time. The argument against it is that if it lives close enough to populated areas that it's spotted frequently (and is so big), why hasn't a dead one been stumbled upon yet? Of course, a negative argument is not proof. It remains possible, but not necessarily factual.

If they bury their dead they are not going to be something that you would stumble upon by chance. Also if not, think about this have you ever found a bear skeleton, bears bones rapidly decompose along with the rest of the body leaving no trace of the animal with in a short amount of time. Also nearly 30% of North America is unexplored.

I agree, the clip was interesting, but it's so blurry and seems to be just vague enough to feed their need to believe in all this.

...at this point I may have surpassed skeptical. In this debate I would probably sit on the "atheist" side.

Interesting! But I'm still skeptical too. Couldn't it have been a bear raised up on its hind legs Mike Rugg saw as a 5 year old and then remembered later? Also, why does he think that they haven't yet appeared as roadkill as he thinks they will in the future? Surely there's plenty of cars around. We have the Bunyip here in Australia, similar story.

Certainly a lot of "bigfoot" sightings could be a bear seen from an odd angle (or through trees, bushes, etc.). What intrigues me is that you can never exactly prove that there's no bigfoot, you can only try to explain each sighting on its own merits. I'm highly skeptical, but I love the idea of it.

Yeah, I'm still skeptical too! But as for the duckbill platypus and bigfoot roadkill comments... a DNA analysis would be all it would take to figure out that it wasn't human! Not that we're ever going to see the remains of an actual bigfoot, but that kind of evidence would be irrefutable nowadays! Of course, this kind of lore is great for stories around the campfire on a dark moonless night! Very interesting guy!!!

He was a very interesting guy, and very nice. DNA is certainly what it's going to take; whether from roadkill, or something more than just a single tooth or clump of hair. Till then, it's great fun to speculate.

I believe the bigfoot is real. I've read that they are the descendents of the beings from planet Monketar - who visited our planet ages ago and interbred prolifically with homo erectus. It's also known that they were a big and hairy lot - somewhat resembling a select few of our NFL players - although even more hairy and much larger in stature. They do not drink Bud Lite however, nor do they like it. They much prefer to shun any human contact and are so reclusive that no one can EVER catch one.

No kenrg. You appear to misunderstand evolutionary theory and principles. I'm simply implying that many, if not most, NFL players are most likely the lineal descendents of the bigfoot (if I'm not mistaken, the species of bigfoot that I'm referring to is: Homo Pedes Foetidus). Many of us "normal" human beings are not of HPF (that is, alien) descent - say, for example, like me, as I am small in stature, not hairy at all, and I really do like Bud Lite.

I know a respected wildlife photographer who is quite sane and intelligent who had something like a big foot tear up his camp. Something, not an animal, (he knows animals), screamed a horrible sound, dug a big hole, threw his camp gear in it and pissed on it. He was in his tent at the time, afraid. Years later a colleague has a similar encounter in the same region of Alaska. I take his statements as fact because I know the guy and he's reputable.
