  • excelentes composiciones!!

  • I LOVE Johhny Cash, but I gotta say Neil does it much better here. And even in this situation the original is king.

  • sometimes it's best to be the f......alone. no rules people and their bulls.......

  • It took me a long while to really appreciate the quality of the music that this guy created; he is very gifted, and surrounded himself with very talented people. My hat is off for Mr. Neil Diamond. Thank you, Neil.

  • I've always liked the sound of this song, though it came out a little bit before my time. The lyrics are really good, too, and I'm sure we can all relate to them at some point in our lives, male or female. Sure, it's written from a male perspective, but I'm sure many women could relate to the message as well. Finding someone who truly cares for you, respects you, and appreciates you can be a daunting task, to say the least.

  • Loved it when it first came out and all these years later it srill applies to my life.

  • Its my theme song. The soundtrack of my life.

  • @wh0m33 Why do you say things like that?

  • This os one of my fav artists---never in the news about drug abuse or anything else crazy not to mention his wonderful music!!!

  • I would kiss him hard if the opportunity presented itself.

  • A Solitary Man...can't say it's a bad way to do things now-a-days. Not rich. Not good looking. Don't know anything about anything, but I can cook, do laundry, vacuum, feed the cats and ... oh, yeah, there's the litterbox thing. My cats love me...what the hell do I need more than that? Some self-absorbed cutie that thinks the world revolves around her? Yeah, right...still, a nice ass would be good 'bout now. (just to f with you mind)

  • Great sound of a fantastic singer, why the 6 seconds?

  • Neil Diamond -- a true American songsmith. Since the darling of my life -- my Heavenly-resplendent wife, Barbra, died from cancer in 2010, I've resolved to live out the title of this song. There are events in life that are far more tragic than being alone, good people. Watching a true and splendid loved one dying from cancer (and not being able to do a damned thing about it) is one of them. Be good to each other.

  • i'll be what i am

    solitary man

  • the words freak me out

  • love this song-awesome!

  • Love the way those horns come in. Classic. Thanks.

  • @loveitoldschool I totally agree. It punches just right. Amazing and so many younger musicians would only turn their head and scoff.

  • 38 people suck

  • LOVE THIS!!!

  • he is awesome thanks for posting

  • One of his bests, I never get tired if it.

  • I got an ad for SCIENTOLOGY on here. WTF? Piss off!

  • one of the greatest songs of all time...but i gotta say i like johnny cash's version better

  • January 14, 2012 two witnesses...9 judges View number 1209014...Just like I said...

  • I like solitary vs. mandatory - GO NEIL!

    1

  • song of my life.....

  • great music this man made--can't get enough and he never was in the spotlight for drugs, alcohol or woman abuse.

I think he was a clean living, moral man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can't stop listining 2 it!!

  • This aint the original, but it comes close. Where`s the original???

  • @estyle40 I'm pretty sure this is the version that came out in 1970. To me this is the "original" I never heard the 66 version till much later. You have a keen ear

  • heard his music since i was zero, that's right ZERO, my mum played it all around the house... and i'm glad she did, im 16 now and love this guy, maybe because his music has meaning unlike a majority of today's crap.

  • This is my favorite song from Neil Diamond

  • that nose is on fire.

  • 37?

  • @darietto86 37 what?

  • the most 'beautiful song of the 60s ...... greetings from Ancona

  • my jam

  • major talent...want to see him in concert !!

  • @lazysasparilla do it can't miss

  • we forget what a handsome devil he was,and what a talent !

  • @brainsareus I can certainly agree with you on that.

  • the best diamond ever

  • I like this song

  • Neil Diamond at his very best with this 60's classic.

Thank you for sharing this excellent quality upload. :*

  • Neil was in my head-I've had it to here being where loves a small word.

  • Forever alone.

  • Did he recently get married again??? I guess he is not a solitary man any more!!

  • This is great, but I can't help liking Cash's version.

  • @Werewolf2382 me to.

  • probably one of the greatest songs ever!!!

  • Great song.

    Love, & live this.

  • This is the first version, not the one that you hear more often that was re-recorded. I like this the best; has the raw quality and the guitar is better. The lyrics strike home to me in a powerful way... Thanks for posting!

  • @burlingtonbill1 I like this one best too. I love the way the horns are incorporated into the song. Real good stuff!

  • ville valo's songs is good too

  • the ultimate pop song off all time

  • @RawBurrito who is related, in his turn, with Ned King Cole. weird stuff huh?

  • neil is so good

  • this is his best song even he knows it

  • I love this song! The words...won't play games behind me...sums it all up.

  • A great classic

  • best ever

  • tough guy

  • Despite all the great music that Neil has produced since, this remains my favourite track of his.

  • someone ripped his heart. i dont blame him id be a solitary man too. good song

  • Dynamite presentation of the the Dynamic @Neil @Diamond !

  • great acoustic quality...........the lyrics ring so true with me........whether male or female, to find someone who truly cares, is such a treasure.........and when things are otherwise, it's just better to be alone

  • @ourlighthouse9

you are so right...if it's not genuine...it is better

  • @ourlighthouse9 Wow! your comment really made me think...life is indeed a treasure or a sentence of solitude, I was there....... 1969 - 70

  • @ourlighthouse9 amen...

  • gosh i love this song!! <3

  • How could anyone not like this song. I grew up with my parents listening to this, and was a small boy in the 70's and I am so glad they did. I have this whole set on reel to reel.

  • Few people know, Neil is fueled creatively by his intense hatred for immigrants

  • I'm going to die of lonliness....Been on my own for a long time...you never get used ti it.

  • Doesn't Neil look like Larry from Threes Company?

  • I love both versions from Neil and Johnny Cash

  • Thanks for a great song.... He is a good writer and great voice.. Like his arrangements.

We are all solitary men in our own little space on this planet. Like leaves on a tree, we get full of life and color. Then the autumn of our years catch up with us, ...then we lose our color, and life. Then we fall to ground. Returning to the Earth as dust from whence we came.

  • Like this song, and I know what it feels like to be lonely but life does turn around and good things are in store for us.After a while u get used to being on your own,it is just the initial stage where its hard.Life will get better if thats what u want.

  • My situaion now& a song I have always liked since I was a kid in the late sixties.

  • This was my anthem! Both gals named in this song were my gals! But then came my wife of 28 years....

    So good residence "Solitary Man".....

  • I am have been married for over 20 years, have a 22 year old daughter, I have friends and family and lots of co-workers that I get along fine with but most of the time I still feel like a solitary man.

  • people just love this song in my country

  • @qqvids In my home country this song loves people.

  • Fantastic song, the brass backing the chorus is awesome, the song is lyrically brilliant and strikes a chord with anyone who has been in the same situation. Thankyou Neil.

  • @chrisbone80 Well said! Especially the Brass like you said.

  • This song and Simon and Garfunkle's I Am A Rock are who I am. It sure seems to offend folks for me to be this way...

  • @smj4535 Yes, of course it's offensive to many people. It means you aren't the kind of person with whom they feel comfortable, which is why you will often find yourself alone in a crowd.

There are worse places to be.

  • @smj4535 me too

  • Listening Ce'Dale?

  • does anyone else think the young neil looks like peter bergen, cnn's terrorism/natl. security analyst?

  • (Proverbs 30:20) Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eats, and wipes her mouth, and says, I have done no evil.

  • Solid!

  • *photo story of neil diamond

  • Put the lyrics in the description!!

  • One of his best, and he has so many to choose from! Always liked the slightly melancholy flavor that the minor keys in this provoke. We've all "been there" before, solitary man/woman.

  • Who's better than the Jewish Elvis?

  • Love this one...he has been around for a long time....and still performing....

  • I never heard this song until I watched stargate atlantis.

  • @Valerija29

    Thank you!

  • Wow!

  • Love you songs so much Neil..

  • Never liked Neil, always thought he talked all his songs (still think so). This one is much better, maybe because it's a "story" song.

  • @79barkingspider This is the only song of his I like too.

  • one of the greatest.

  • thankyou neil for this song... think both sexes have and do feel this way... hope u find the love u have been looking for dear soul
