Jocob and MIB are personifications of the egyptian gods Horus/Ra (Jacob weaves a carpet with Horus' Eye on it) and Apophis (a dark snake that is Ra's Nemesis) while the statue represents their mother (another goddess) that controlls Apophis and makes sure that he does not get away. In the end it seems like nothing but the light in the heart of the island, the good in every human being is really good.
All the people working either for Jacob or MIB thinking, they are the "good guys" are only manipulated and the two gods play a game with their hearts and souls. For example the people who built the temple seem to have served and made sacrifices to the smoke monster and while it was protecting their walls they thought that he was the good one, while Jacob's disciples think he's a kind of devil. In the end they are just two sides of a medal, two parties in a game, the faces of mankind.
Here's a theory for you: You notice in all these "Sidways Realties" (as the producers called them originally) that everyone is the complete opposite of them self even though they are starting to realize about the other life EXCEPT who? I'll give you a hint She's a chick and was captured in Sydney. Kate is the same in both realities. She's a con in one and a con in the other even though Sawyer told her that her name was crossed out in the cave. What does it mean? Hell if I know.
Man jacob is the devil, thats what i think, hes always whispering hes always in the now hes always trying to change something, why if your good not tell the truth? why bring people to the island and say their ment to figure it out to be good on their own?? why let people kill them selves and not stand in, a good person will say something do something, but jacob he doesnt care he just nudges u in a direction, WHITE AND BLACK dont get them confused thats just a colour.
I say Jacob is evil. In the episode Ab Aeterno when Richard tells him that the man in the jungle..."said you were the devil", Jacob says "and?..." as if confirming it. I don't think he's the devil, but maybe not far from it.
Did you notice that in the most recent episode (the one about Richard) Jacob dunked Richard in the water 3 times? Think what you want to, but that seems like pretty significant evidence towards Jacob being good
Maybe its a strange thought, but in Lost there is a pattern, the actors that are good have really lovable facial expressions (Think of Locke's smile for example, how lovable is that?) unlike the evil ones that look a bit strange (think of all the Dharma folks,Ben's Principle, you just can say if they are anti-heroes from their face).What struck me is that Jacob has a "LOST Villain face" he looks like a goblin. I cant imagine that terry o queen is playing someone evil
I cant decide; Maybe Jacob is actually the evil guy of the island, and he is manipulating everybody including peaple from the Temple. So richard would be mean in a way, too.
But thinking SmokeyLocke as a good guy is pretty hard for me. Black Smoke hasn't been very nice during the five previous seasons, i don't know why suddenly he would be the good guy.

That's why he was so shocked when Locke heard him speak in that Hut. But if Ben did get an order to kill rouso.. it could have also been the smoke guy cuz he's never seen jacob face to face.
Dont remember the season 5 episode when ben has to kill rousseau and her baby but he couldn't do it? Jacob didnt speak to ben, he spoke to widmore and widmore told ben to execute the order
I'm pretty sure the guy in black is Locke, yeah. Smokey Locke said he was ''trapped'' for too long. I guess he was talking about the fact he can't take his real human form anymore; and has to copy another body or live as a black smoke.
the question would be how did he actually get trapped? Jacob?
Agree that Jacob is the "good guy" in this game, for reason other than his shirt color. I think Jacob keeps bringing people to the island in order to give them a chance to redeem themselves, make "progress" as he says. The Man in Black doesn't believe in redeeming people, he believes in punishing them (from the finale we know he is in league with the smoke monster). It should be noted however that Jacob's "good" status doesn't mean he won't destroy/ruin lives or stop tragedy (Sayid's wife).
