"bom dia" I am from toronto, canada and I am half portuguese and italian I speak both languages. I noticed when you said "bom dia" you pronounced it with a brasilian accent. Proper portuguese it is not pronounced like that.
@wopchop99 Correct. This is Brazilian Portuguese. The dialect I use is from Rio de Janeiro also called Carioca. It is one of the most understandable accents to Brazilian ears cuz most part of the media for TV and radio are produced there. I didn't put Brazilian Portuguese as a main title cuz the language of the country is registered like Portuguese. For example, when you buy a grammar in Brazil the title is Gramática da Língua Portuguesa but not Língua Brasileira.
i love portuguese. it is such a beautiful language! i have a question though. i am a girl and i was wondering when i say thank you to other people, do i say 'obrigado, or obrigada' ?
@79butters Hey there! Thanks for the comment. I'm actually half-Brazilian because my mother is Brazilian. Depending on the region, you can hear 2 kinds of R. One is the trilled r and the other one is the aspirated r. This last one sounds exactly like the X sound in Greek and the H in English. The accent that I use is the Rio de Janeiro Accent. In this accent you can hear these two kinds of R. For example, when a Carioca says "quarto" (kwa-h-to) a Paulista says (kwa-r-to). Hope this help. :)
Im half brazilian but i was never introduced to the language im from new york so i learned spanish from all the dominicans and puerto ricans

Do Brazilians roll the "r" like that? As in "por favor"?
Anyway, you've got such a sexy voice ;-)

To @79butters I almost forgot! most of my Portuguese teachers were from Rio de Janeiro and that's the reason I can speak with this accent.
