  • By 6:00 I admit it I was looking for Ms Gulch on her bike. :(

  • That Would Have Scared me sooooo bad.

  • If from 4:00 to 6:21 takes place inside of the actual tornado, those flashes of light might be the lightning that's presumably inside all tornadoes. Wow

  • At around 2:55 you can kinda see a ghost....

  • air raid sirens scare the shit out of me

  • it that the sound of the twister or is that just the siren?

  • poor camera D: XD

  • what was the wind speed you think?

  • Cool video. I think it was more straight line winds, though. Too sustained to be a tornado, and the winds are blowing pretty much in one direction.

  • sucks for them.

  • is that snow????

  • @DrumJack234 No you dumbass it's rain

  • Anyway, great audio, It is a tornado!

  • Sounds authentic, but why does the video slow down about 1/3 way through according to the timer?

  • Gee, this is comforting. I'm going to be spending the next two years of my life down there, and now I find out that I don't even have the luxury of waiting until spring to start worrying about tornadoes. Terrific.

  • They Sound Lik Fire Trucks Well Maybe Because I Dnt Liv In A Place Tht Gets Tornados Bhut Cool Sound Effect

  • We had an EF4 tornado here in my area of Toledo, Ohio about a month ago. Milbury, Ohio looks like a war zone...it's very sad. This is a great video. Hugs from Toledo, Ohio!!!

  • Im not scared of tornados at all...

the best thing to do when a tornado strikes:

    1.Get a brick

    2. Throw it at the tornado

    3. if that works ur free

  • @SixT2DaysofHumor you mean get 1000000000000000000000 bricks and a huge catapult. and a sniper rifle.

  • @SixT2DaysofHumor Try walkin into da funnel...

  • awshum!!!!!!

  • Freaky

  • is int that the sound of the sirens

  • sounds like a mix between a 2001 and a whelen :/

  • hahaha sooo tru

  • I still remember back in 2004 when all those hurricanes came through, the scariest sound I've ever heard in my life would have to be that of a tornado..especially when it comes hurdling through in the middle of the night. I remember we heard it making its way through the woods and we also heard explosions (probably from telephone poles) and the wind made the creepiest sounds that still send chills when I remember it.

  • wow very scary!!

  • WOW! I never been near one but that sounds very unique and terrible (scary) Now I know what you all mean saying it sounds like a train.

  • does it really sound scary!

  • Thanks for that video -- it sounds like the tornado is lost and is driving up and down the streets looking for an address. Then he (or she) thinks they found it but realizing it's not the right address, decide to move on. (Surprising how hard it is to find some good sound clips - but the good ones are obvious because you find yourself sitting in your own piss).

  • It sure approached for quite a while before it finallly went past the darn camera huh?! LOL

  • I was in a small one this past Monday around 630P. It was rain wrapped and I did not see it till I was just a few hundred yards away. I had to take my car and park behind an empty high school where I grabbed on to the gym door lever. It lasted about 45 secs. It sounded just like this. It was very, very frightening and I was alone. There were no warnings, absolutely none.

  • Yep. That's how it seems to go too often, even these days with all the technology we have. Tornadoes simply are just too unpredictable and always will be. Sorry about your harrowing experience....

  • I also spotted one a week later after that experience trying to touch down but it roped out and died before doing anything. Again, I was just in the right place at the right time. We had about 4 touch down 1 week ago in our area during about of severe storms. One was rated an EF1. Absolutely NONE showed up on doppler radar--no warnings whatsoever!

  • I live in Northern New England, where it's mountainous, and not flat, like Tornado Alley.

So I'm out of luck if I want to see or hear a tornado.

  • WOW. What more can I say? WOW. Having been through several of these, once you hear it, you'll never forget it - i'ts a sound that plays back into my worst nightmares! 5/5 stars and an add to my StormChasing Playlist.

  • wow

  • woah. around like 5:30, you see a purplish glowing thingy and then the cameras microphone dies

  • saw it but thinking maybe lightning then thunder...idk

  • Wow. One of the best tornado videos caught on a real camera ive seen so far

  • around 4:25 it became very intense, there had too have been some tornadic activity..awesome video there..

  • Very powerful.

  • thats sweet nice video nice every thing

  • A tornado did strike this area on this day, but those winds last for such a long time and they don;t change direction, meaning that this couldn't be a tornado. Those winds sound ferocious, though (100mph plus maybe), so this might be a downburst. Great audio either way.

  • I think from all the damage we had where this camera is it was a small tornado because all the destruction was only about two blocks wide going North East, I would think if it was only straight line winds the destruction would have been more wide spread. I'm not saying there wasn't straight line winds over a 100 mph, but the width of the damage tells me small tornado followed by straight line winds. Anyway I just wanted to post what I found on that camera. Thanks for watching.

  • Well the footage is still awesome and their may have been a tornado very near by, but the wind in a tornado, by definition, changes direction. This video is still worth 5 stars

  • Tornadoes only last a couple of seconds on a house. Survivors always say it's only for a few seconds... unless your picked up and carried away with it!!!

  • Yea really, I was thinking the same thing! This is quite some time for a tornado unless it's stationary. Highly unlikely tho!

  • @CyrusNixes: Maybe, but tornadoes rarely do make any significant changes in direction, whereas wind gusts are probably more flexible..............

  • did homer die?

    XD

  • Only an idiot would be standing out there in the middle of this with a rag trying to keep the lens clear, cmon.... besides this camera is in a remote location..

  • lol i was only kidding on that one tho lol.

  • cool I can accept that

  • @jckhammer no...you are the idiot... why would they clean the lens when theres a tornado out side next to it??? fuck off troll and stfu

  • @Blackblade22100: LOL, I think he was just joking, tho............{p.s. look at the uploader comments}

  • @jckhammer yOU IDIOT GET IN THERE IF YOU GOT THE BALLS HAAH!!!!!! :D

  • @jckhammer did you even read the description??

  • In my experience that was a typical straight wind, but still kind of spooky!

  • I live in Springfield and remember this night well.....It blew shingles off of my apartment's roof.....Where is this security camera located?

  • great video!!!!!

  • What is eerie, is to think that this is probly the last thing people who die in tornados hear...

Sounds like a bomb blast or prolonged exposion.

  • the tornado sirens are creepy....;)

  • they are arnt they =o

  • That small tornado sure took a while to pass over. Would suck to be stuck in a large tornado.

  • This had to be on the 7th of Jan. There were no tornado warnings on the 8th in Springfield. I would know, I work for Emergency Management.

  • It started on the 7th but after midnight it was the 8th and these security cameras are correct on time and date. There were numerous tornadoes that night going into the next morning. I know because I was there.

  • 2:54

  • 3:25 that looks like a tornado.

  • They all say it sounds like a freight train or a jet engine; to me it just sounds like death.

I don't mean to sound all old western or whatever but that is the last sound that some hear, so to me its a sound of death.

  • I agree.

  • MARKMENU WAS THERE

  • i had a tornado where i live its was so close to my house

  • is it just me or does anybody else get freaked out with that drill. im terrified of tornadoes but i want to be a storm chaser

  • I would like to be a storm chaser too. Don't know if it pays anything or not, but would be exciting.

  • I remember that night. I was at work when I saw the tornado. I wish it was during the day so I could have seen without having to wait for lightning.

  • Wow!

  • Wow. That is amazing that that was caught on camera. Even if it wasn't the best footage, it's a security camera. That Is So Awesome!

  • At 2:57, what lights up the whole screen?

Did a transformer blow? Or was it lightninG?

  • It was lightning, it was real bad that night. thanks for looking..

  • Good video, too bad the mic doesn't do it justice.

  • at 0:32 the power is out

    (cool!!!)

  • security camera tornado with sound

  • when you coudln't see the street, was that ALL the debris?

& the whole time @ the end, was that the tornadoe?

  • man this tornado wow it was wide the rain was so hard when the camera recorded thanks was this and f5 or f4 i dont know do you know becuase the tornado causes the camera to brake the microphone what was the big things in the camera someone needs to wipe it

  • dude i dont thinl anybody is going to wipe the camera during a tornado

  • yea i think your right its to dangreous to go outside

  • Global warming is a scam made by AL Gore and GM...GM so they can sell you crappier cars at higher prices and Al Gore so he feels important.

  • I didn't even know who is AL Gore... I watched a lot of science news... and I can feel that the winds today are really violent. So Sorry for me Global Warming is real, and I'll try my best not to add more heat on this planet.

  • you know you can believe all you want but global warming is true even scientist say its happening right now

  • Must have been a wide tornado, it lasts forever. The winds seem to be tornadic for atleast two minutes or more. The sound around 5:05 is scary!

  • That would be so scary.

  • This is just like what we experienced up here in Independence/KC May 1st/2nd. Unfortunately they tried to cover it up as a "microburst" then just winds. We never received any warnings for any of the tornadoes that night here.

I knew what happened, my bedroom window was open. That and try to explain the trees uprooted, houses torn up, my utility pole snapped into fourths, along with the tornado thinking Arby's at 1:30am and destroyed the place.

  • scary........

  • Notice how rains going the opposite direction by near the end

  • That is one tough little camera!

  • Lol the power went out at :33

  • That was a street light acroos the road, it went out due to lighting. it came back on at 51sec.

  • scary

  • That's a "SMALL TORNADO?" Holy Crap! That was a nice vid.

  • nice vid, whats that cracking noise at the end is it a building?

  • sounds like the twister passed then backed up again ... scary sound

  • wow..i live in plano and a tornado flew over head, and not a single siren went off!!! people lost fences and everything!

  • Aah that's wicked...

  • dus anyone know the name or the siren in silent hill the movie not the game ?

    that ones reli creepy

  • THis video has the siren that sounds like it I don't know what it''s called though lol. Put watch?v=WmragNQ_TfY in place of the code in your adress bar.

  • This siren is made by KM Europe SA. They added reverb to the sound for the movie, to make it sound creepier (like it needed help in that department lol)

  • Wow the sound alone is creepy. And that was just a SMALL tornado. Wow!

  • wow that is actually really scary.I live close to tennessee so we dont get a lot of tornados but the sometimes I think the sound is worse than the pics. The only tornado I've been through was when my mom was pregnant with me so I guess I dont know alot.

  • Amazing! I live in Kentucky and we get a share of tornadoes.Lucky I have not been in one.but we just have some tornadoes in february very close to our town. only damage I have from the storm was my privacy fence. the poles were snapped close to the ground.

  • Lets here them, then I'll prove you wrong. Why would I post something that was not real.

  • Amazing video and sound! Truly scary.

Around 2:56:51 (4:38 on the YouTube vid) it looks like a car hood gets ripped off!

All that debris! Tree trunks etc.

(I kept looking for the Wicked Witch! ha)

  • No car hoods or tree trunks, just rain and little limbs and leaves blowing around as far as I know, We did lose a lot of trees around that area and a lot of damaged roofs. The sound was wicked for sure.

  • Springfield (SIMPSONS?)

  • it's gotta be real, at first the rain is falling from right to left. when it comes in the rain is going left to right upwards. i'm guessing the tornado was in front to the right of the camera outside the view. it makes sense to see the rain going counterclockwise... but what troubles me are the drops of water on the lens. they move VERY little.

  • Have you ever noticed when it rains on your windshield after it's covered you don't see any more rain hitting it. Anyway like I said before, this was captured from a security camera, and it is real. When I played back the video acouple days after the tornado I was fascinated that the cameras acutally picked up the sound, so I thought I would share it with everyone. As far as the rain I've never been so close to a tornado, but this is just like the camera saw it and heard it.

  • yea, i guess the camera lens is deep inside the protective shield.

  • Is this for real? How can the winds be that strong for over 6 minutes in the same spot by a single tornado?

  • Look...it all depends on the length(width) of a tornado...they can hover over sigle areas for 10 mins or so if they're an F-4 or F-5...this securiy cam doesn't show much.

  • Ok, I guess I'm just so use to storms in the northeast that are always moving through very fast from the jet stream. When we get tornado days up this way, it's typically .

  • I'm no expert on Tornadoes but this is an actual video captured by a security camera, and if you listen you can hear the Tornado approaching at 2:54:31. The rest is passing over and going away, I don't know what speed it was traveling, I just thought it was fascinating to capture it on video with sound and share it.

  • WOW, so they actually sound like trains!!!! that's scary

  • whats up with the power keeping going on and off like i know the tornado is right there but shouldnt the power just go off and stay off

  • I thought that was strange too, The only thing I could figure the lights are street lights on a photo cell and when it lighting real bad it shut them off, but that night the electricity was going off and on all over Springfield, after this tornado went over we were without electricity for two days.

  • that is weird like i understand about the lightning it does that here to the street lights go out when there a bright flash, we dont really lose power like if we get a lightning hit our powerpole its like 2 secs off and then back on, even our transformer blew and we still had power so i donno what to tell ya lol. but awesome video i love videos like this, if u can find more please post them

  • I spotted this storm for Springfield NWS. We were lucky in the sense that it was an imbedded tornado in a squall line. Had it been a supercell long track it would have torn a line from southwest to northeast through the city.

  • We were very lucky that night, we had like 10 tornadoes that night. Just NE of my house near Strafford there was a lot of damage, then just SW of my house one hit Harry Cooper Supply, so we were right in the path when it lifted.

  • freaky. it starts getting violent around 3:00. and this is a 'small' twister. imagine a much larger one. thanks.
