No matter how times we hear this throughout the decades it seems it never gets old. Like Hotel California.........the chordes are so recognizable, we sing it, love it, hear it, just nothing like these anymore.
Netto, I read the rant from the other post about parts missing. Look, I know what it takes to splice a movie in software, take the time to upload each piece, title it, save it, so...........hey thank YOU for the decency and the time to give us this timeless classic. Youtube alot of times wont allow the full movie, so one piece must be forfeited. Again Netto, YOU ROCK for putting this up, we got most of it to see, to I personally enjoyed it.
This concert was filmed a couple of months before a Brittish masterpiece Television program called "Space:1999" was filmed starting in January '74. Led Zep is my favourite band and Space:1999 is my favourite Tv show-both are Brittish. Space:1999 was filmed in Pinewood Studio in London.
first, this is not the correct audio. i have seen tsrts several times, and have this song on my ipod and i know this is not the right audio. and the audio doesn't match the visual. netto3, you suck. and several parts are missing. so, you suck even more.
@fancyfripouille First, this is the correct audio. This is the original version, and the version you have heard and seen was most likely the newly remastered edition.
jimmy at the peak of his lead playing, robert when his voice was mature and strong, bonzo smashing and crashing those drums and jonesy backing it all up on bass and keys, MY GOD, WHAT A FUCKIN BAND!!!! LONG LIVE LED ZEPPELIN, LONG LIVE ROCK N ROLL!!!!!
sometimes i think the sound dosen't match the playing, i like when peter grant locks all the doors in the car when they leave the concert, and when you come to new york wearing green you get robbed, jimmy left wearing the same green silk shirt,,,,,,,,coollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
@littleblitzkrieg. LOL. Totally agree! Band never wrote a bad tune, and with all the tracks they used in the studio, they STILL pulled it off live. Sloppy in later years (drugs) but Bonzo was always the ROCK!
@littleblitzkrieg. LOL. Totally agree! Band never wrote a bad tune, and with all the tracks they used in the studio, they STILL pulled it off live. Sloppy in later years (drugs) but Binzo was always the ROCK!
Funny, a buddy of mine, a die-hard Zep fan, said that he never really liked this tune. I also thought SWTH was sometimes so popular, so classic, that it was overdone. But man, watching this performance should put all those doubts to rest. What an epic! What more can Page do??
Led Zep IV was one of my first LPs. I hadn't even heard I, II and III. When I did, nothing at all remained the same. I must have listed to How Many More Times about 50 times in a row on headphones. Couldn't get over it. Dazed and Confused was my anthem. The greatest disappointment of my youth was the death of Bonham. The concert tour was cancelled and I never did get to see them live. This film was a taste of what I missed.
@JKJM1 man i thought being born in the 90s was bad. not being able to see these guys at all. you had the chance to and it went sour. i feel so sorry for you
I give this the mozart award. For a song to embody the spiritual and ethical and mass appeal like this song. Mozart would be proud because there is very little more then the mozarts . Beethoven would be cheering too.
I think this is the most beautiful version of Stairway To Heaven I've ever heard. I wish Led Zeppelin would do another reunion! I'm 13 so I've never seen them :(
i think jimmy (and zeppelin) was the first to really play to that person way way in the back as much as the front. Way before the big motions of iron maiden and all that. sharing the experience equally. I guess the who did too but not like this.
When I saw the Earl's Court shows I was so disappointed in comparison to this. I'd heard it was Zeppelin at their best but this is the best I've ever heard them. Maybe folks there could correct me but i don't know, maybe the American fans appreciated them more. Would have been wonderful to be at MSG for this but I was only 2. :)
according to the band this concert was below par! Fuck me, imagine them on their idea of form! Best band ever, no contest. Noone even close, not for shit
@edd19810 I love their Since I've Been Loving You and Whole Lotta Love, but yes I'd say generally that this was a bit below par. Royal Albert Hall 1970 and LA Forum (How The West Was Won) are by far their greatest concerts I think. Oh and I've gotta add BBC Sessions as a third.
@Murreh Maybe not by far, but the energy of the band, and the intensity of Page's guitar, set this concert apart from any of their other concerts in my opinion.
@london2z Personally I think Page's guitar is starting to get sloppy around 1973, and Plant's voice not as fresh as before. I still think Royal Albert Hall and HTWWW are way better.
This video should have more than comments...it should have "supplicants". It should have "devotees". It should be spawning disciples. Bow down you lowly dogs, bow down...
Robert Plant's pants are not and never have been a laughing matter. Guitarists have power stance to claim the entire rock domain. All Robert Plant has ever had is:
-A voice thrown down from heaven so hard that it crashed through the ground, bounced off of the floor of hell and back up into Mrs. Plant's womb where Robert laid sleeping... en utero
-Hair worthy of a Nexus ad
-A shirt so open that he shouldn't have even bothered wearing one
- Robert Plant is the one who wrote the lyrics. Forget about the hair and the clothes, man, the guy had the gift of a poet. The words that you hear all come from his mind, all those images in the Zep songs were born there. The whole band makes the atmosphere, gives you emotions through music, but, in that journey, your guide is Plant's voice with all its inflections and his poems. He is your Virgil leading you through Inferno to Paradise.
When i fall asleep all i see are images of jimmy page hypnotically playing is Gibson EDS-1275

Would love to have seen this at a cinema in the 70s, when it was released.
It's a cliche but music really was music then.

This song defined rock music. Plant's lyrics are perfectly coupled with Page's riffs and Jones' bass line. Musical Nirvana :-)
