I own a machine business, small anodizing line that requires sulfuric acid in a diluted charged form to harden/color aluminum parts. I also have things line H2O2, alcohol first aid stuff that are located pretty close to the ano line. It's diluted 15% acid, 85% water. Looks like it might be a good idea to move it now that I saw this !

The Sulphuric acid removes hydrogen and oxygen from the shirts fibres in the form of water and thus exposes a significant amount of carbon elements within the shirt - you can actually see the shirt going black as the carbon becomes exposed.

When you then add the Hydrogen Peroxide the mixture forms a ridiculously powerful oxidiser which effective dissolves the exposed carbon and you get the above effect.

It's called a Piranha solution.

@phdharok No, sulphuric acid is very acidic, and hydrogen peroxide is very alkaline (it is an alkali). If the two mixed together, they would instantly neutralize and turn into a new chemical. Neutral chemicals are not corrosive.

Nice, you have made 'piranha solution' in-situ. It is actually not the acid reacting with the fabric at all. The acid facilitates the formation of oxygen radicals (from the peroxide) and these react with the carbon in the fabric. The heat liberated by the extremely exothermic reaction between the carbon and oxygen radical further fuels the reaction speed.

The military has been developing a bomb that drops miniature acid bombs onto mine fields. The acid is strong enough to continue through about 3 feet of water and still detonate the mines, on dirt it was almost an instant explosion.
