@dietcoke4breakfast never ehard that one before, and yah i guess that is true, whatever SP3 does crush sp2 then,
still i dont think stellar is the only good sp2 song, i think songs like ma belle and zeitgeist(fucking impossible to find on youtube, i cans end a link if you havnt to heard it) are worth emntioning as at the very least good,
i dont think zeitgeist(album) is amazing but i dont think its atrocious, the songs grow on you over time,
Zeitgeist was a major disappointment but the bonus tracks are amazing. It's strange as to why Corgan kept them as bonus tracks instead of being legitimately part of the album.
If you think zeitgeist was a dissapointment you were obiously trying to listen to it as something it isn't. That album was so meticulously worked on. It is so epic and professional. You could not say that if the album were playing.
It also reminds me of The Future Embrace but this sounds AMAZING compared every other song in Zeitgeist. It sounds new age but has a hint of classic SP, but i think what makes this song better than a lot of there newer work is that it is not over-produced nor is the production quality poor (which was one of the big problems in Zeitgeist) I hope for their new album they steer towards this direction, regardless im sure Billy and Jimmy will not disappoint.
Great Music....never ceases to amaze me how Enchanting their chords harmonies, and seeming off colors their into. In all honesty, that's probably how the sky looks their. Just like a beautiful sunset or sunrise all the time!
you know i was listening to Jimi Hendrix earlier, he's good and all, but he's just not as good at COMPOSING it as billy corgan is. if that makes any sense.
Yup radio sucks they play the same songs over nd over nd over again.. its jus pure bullshit.. thank god theres cds fuck the radio.....SP coming to Boston 11/14 nd 11/15 Yeah baby...
when i first heard zeitgeist i was like 'oh no, billy, uhh.., what are you thinking? please change' .. then it grew on me, after experiencing more life, some songs have come to mean alot to me... he is always meaningful
i hate the people who got pissed at them cuz they "changed" those arn't the real SP fans cuz all those people hear are the stuff on the radio, have anyone actully listened to all the songs that WERN'T hits? there way better and diffrent, awesome song. love the bass line
I know bro :-) Radio plays Zero, Tonight TOnight, 1979, Bullets..,Today, Disarm and one other one from S.D. .. I love all those songs I mentioned but its like not EVEN a fraction of Pumpkins catalog! .. Wish radio would smarten up and play more Machina or Zeitgeist .. even some of Adore which is very underated .. Most bands dont have the guts/nor the permission i guess to experiment ( fail in public some call it) .. it hurts those bands i think .
Very Proggy .. I love it! Zeigeist is awesome! A new chapter in the SP. This is what its all about .. a band with balls .. challenging its audience with fresh new material. They have the right attitude in making music for themselves, not repeating themselves like puppets and constantly moving foward! I look foward to more great stuff from SP!
Thanks man .. Yeah they just played in Charlottesville , VA this past Sat night .. I didn't know til like Thursday.. I'm hoping they'll do Verizon Center in DC or perhaps 9 30 club again ( They did their Album release there which I thought was awesome! with the new song "United States" :-))
haha. you called it. and we didn't even get this one on the cd in new zealand. 'that's the way' is similar though yet slightly worse. 'i don't mind' is another good new song but most of their mewer stuff misses the mark somewhat
you and i know that the pumpkins' catalog ranges so vastly .. but i have to say, if this song doesnt go down as one of my favourites alongside such greats like songs like mayonaise then i'll be.
by the way, tell me .. why does everyone keep comparing this to "starla" ? as far as I know the only similarities are the subtle differences in the song names.
the two are nothing alike. I still like starla, but I just cant compare them.
spaceboy was the worst song on the album (just to show you how good that album is, i give that song a 7 out of 10)
the album is the best album i've heard
but after hearing about 8 songs off of melon collie ( i haven't disliked on of them) i think melon collie sounds like the best album ever
regardless this song is the most magnificent peice of art i've ever heard, it ranks up there with behtoveen and Van Gaugh. greatest song i've ever heard.
well I take exception, but it's all opinions anyway, so it's cool for you to say that. haha.
but, Van Gogh was a painter, the comparison doesn't quite hold up. although Don Mclean definitely hit it right on with his song about Van Gogh, THAT was a great song.
i didn't say spaceboy sucked. just FYI and Siamese Dream made me orgasm when i heard it. and i almost died when i heard this song. i did shit my pants, this song is just fuckin increadable
..then again I could see the Pumpkins covering Silver Sun Pickups.
Though if U2 and SP happened to show up at the same concert - I'd rather see The Edge collaborate on guitar then have Bono's ego crowding out everything...
u just mixed up everything, the silver sunshine pickups or whatever they're called rip off of everything Smashing pumpkins, they're just a smashing pumpkins cover band practicly. and U2 just dosn't cover songs, or at least i don't think, idk and i don't care. this song is too original to be covered unless your doing it in concert and you sure as hell better do a good good good good job
The Pumpkins played this track at the 02 London and it was so beautiful- the bestest gig I've ever seen- 27 songs played in a non stop blast- the crowd was amazing- Billy told jokes- well done to those who survived in the mosh pit...
Why did they leave this off Zeitgeist? Its the best song since they came back most definitely, Billy knows how to write his melancholic but proud epics, the question is, is this song better than Starla?
I think it just has to do with his writing style. I think he didn't try very hard to write the songs on Zeitgeist...Songs on all albums before Zeitgeist had a vibe that this songs has.
and that is the truth. though now i do admit that my comparison may have been slightly misguided, but it was that vibe that i felt so strongly off of starla that i felt once more in this song which made me draw the connection.
This should of been on the original Zeitgeist cd its the best song. nightbrooks when do those songs come out?? They are acustic older sounding new songs right?? Thats what I heard.
At best buy they have a zeitgeist CD with stellar, death from above, and ma belle. The CD with zeitgeist is hard to find. Don't blame the band for this stupid song thing, it's the production company that makes the decision.
The bit from 2:00 to 2:15 is the best part of the song. Billy's genius was showing quite clearly right there, and I wish he had taken that part and made an entire song out of it. The rest of the song is sublime and beautiful, but that part could be elaborated into another 1979.
i think hummer is one of the most buitifull song ever, this song sounds like it should be on the radio, i mean the entire album is just begging to be on the air. it pretty good
