I do not mind as long as inspirations is referenced. That is what copyright act is for. Fortunately now it is being done to some extent in bollywood. U just need to reference the inspiration or buy the copyright for it. It is impossible to come up with new ideas all the time.

All songs anywhere in the universe are composed from 7 notes......may be some parts match which are combinations of some notes match with some parts of their songs....Pritam is an honest person who admits when he copies....others just do that from English songs and never admit it!...In some cases u r just showing he has copied beats which are very common and we sometimes sing in the bathroom...

When people make devdaas, they don't say..Oh I came up with this mind blowing idea. We know that they are remaking.
Here someone might have worked really hard to make this hit tune and pritam is just copying.
If you still feel the same, go give pritam an award for good copying but not for good tune.

Everyone has a right to survive. The Indian music directors are not a highly paid lot , neither are they given enough time to churn out numbers, nor is their career span too long. Given all this we cannot blame a music director if he is forced to copy sometimes to stay afloat in this rat race . At the end of the day whatever he gives sounds good to the ears period.

I agree with you swrpm in the sense that I really like Pritam's songs and some of them are even more refined and refreshing than the original ones. But the point is not whether they are good or not, point here is the originality and ownership of these tunes. If Pritam was making these compositions for disbaled children in some missionary being all selfless; it would have been great ! But he is actually taking the hard work of some musician, calling it his own and making money out of it.

When the entire western 'civilisation' is based on vedic Hinduism. And when all sciences arose from the Ved and Upnishad, then what is a few songs here and there? Mr Chakraborty is a good arranger, nevertheless, listen to the original of 'Baatein Kuchh Ankahi Si' - Pritam has turned the morose tune to beautiful song, which plays in my car all the time. I am not trying to justify the plagiarism, btw. The original composers of these songs need to be notified about their songs being big hit in India.

All songs anywhere in the universe are composed from 7 notes......may be some parts match which are combinations of some notes match with some parts of their songs....Pritam is an honest person who admits when he copies....others just do that from English songs and never admit it!...In some cases u r just showing he has copied beats which are very common and we sometimes sing in the bathroom...

Many times he denied that he copied songs, when the proof is very very strong that he not only copies some notes, but the whole tune of the songs (Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai and Zara Zara are some examples where he copied the whole tune). He still has the gut to call it his own brilliant works. If you call that honest, I don't know what your definition of a liar.
