All technology does for DJ's is replace the record crate with a laptop. u still need imagination and technical skill to pull off a hot mix or performance live in front of a crowd. DJ's can still fall foul horribly even with digital beat lock engaged, so don't think a computer is gonna save you if you suck!!! If you can't think it up, your hands can't put it down, point blank end of story.

rather than "u had to have skill" i think you had to have passion and dedication. there was a lot more sacrifice involved in djing, more time etc. nowadays once you get turntables and a mixer.. you buy serato and download mp3, that's it. from there on it's all easy, beatmatching, looping....the machine does it all. but still "djs" act like they're the incarnation of realness.

This is far more entertaining than today's dj's who all do pretty much the same routine. Ok, today they are much faster due to the spread of knowledge but when it comes to groove, musicality and excitement, there is no beating the older dj's. Just listen to GM Flash, he might not be the most technical DJ but he can keep hold the interest for the whole evening using good old bread and butter techniques but with razor sharp precision.

Actually DJ Spinbad from Philly came up with the transformer 1st...Grand Dragon KD "Steady B'S 1st DJ" was the 1st to record it on wax. Jeff and Cash took it and added rhythm/funkiness to it!!!!
