diesel is the best engine! with all of that torsion it has it is better engine to drift also and those horse power u can get out of it example mercedes om606 diesel engine with turbo and 2bar pressure u can easily get 400whp and over 1000newtonmeter torsion!!!!!!!
Great.... Next there is going to be NHRpA for prius' and teslas.... Why not watch Larry Larsons Nova thats street legal and runs 6's? That is impressive. Diesels should stick to there roots. Pullin things. They are not fast. So go back to pullin a sled!
@SuperPowerstroke00 I guess we’ll take that as a compliment. Funny thing, when we first started racing the S-10, we had guys come up to us in the pits who weren’t convinced we were running straight No. 2 diesel, so we actually started giving out samples for them to see/smell/feel. Tell you what, Mr. Doubting Thomas, the next time our S-10 or rail goes out, you can meet us at the track and we’ll let YOU fill ‘er up. :-)
@bankspowerinsider Alright then. It just sounds so much like a gasser. I guess I will have to see it to believe it. Will you guys ever be in Redding, CA?
THIS VIDEO SHOULD BE FOR ALL YOU PUKE N SMOKE (POWER STROKE) AND CUMMINS OWNERS THAT THINK THEY ARE MAKING POWER WHEN THEY CHOKE OUT THE GUY BEHIND THEM WITH BLACK SMOKE.
Can you guys bring this nasty little Sten up to Wisconsin's Great lakes Drag-a-way while there's an import wars going on? You know, just to make them all want to die?
First, congrats to banks power on such a clean burning engine and a kickass record. Second, people who think "rollin coal" makes power need to read up on the subject. Soot exiting tailpipe = unburnt fuel = lost potential energy. Internal combustion engines are "heat engines". Unburnt fuel is heat lost. See now? I have a bachelor's degree in diesel technology, I'm a tech by trade and a turbo specialist. Unburnt fuel means loss of potential energy, no smoke means ultimate efficiency.
@buforddarlington666 i agree, i used to work on a TAD. we ran an injected nitro engine and all of the nitro we wasted was outrageous. isnt it funny how the nhra brought top fuel back to 85% a few years ago and the cars got faster? seriously 70gpm of nitro is way too much why dont they run only what they can burn and i bet the times would be alot quicker. I may be out of line in thinking that, keep in mind im no crew chief but it just does not seem to be an efficint engine it its not all burnt.
@patchancer86 If all the fuel is burned then there is no smoke. We burn all the fuel we inject into this engine. You can see more on the engine build on our website.
@bankspowerinsider i once saw a tv show with mr. banks and the thing that stood out the most was his quote "i make power you can use not power you can see."
@patchancer86 you're kidding right? more smoke means you're just running inefficiently. chances are, to run 7.77 in the quarter, they'd have to run pretty damn efficiently
Do you morons not know just how much power it takes to run a 7? I have a 65 nova at almost stock weight with 1175 at the WHEELS! and I run a mid 8. 8.7 or so to be exact. I say almost stock weight becouse the new motor makes it heavy. If I want to run a 7.77 at 180mph....holy shit dude I would have to add another 900 horse to get that. top fuel runs between 8000 and 10,000 horse power. Get real dude educate yourself before you speak. Nice run man...awesome ass truck!!
@ streetstylz, do u know home much it takes to run 8's in a diesel truvk? oh and btw this trucj is in the low 7;s now, plus less weight at that much hp in a truck equals no weight= no traction= slower time.
@bankspowerinsider I know. I don't like Duramax or any of the new V8 diesels, but the truck is impressive. Can you say why it doesn't smoke, I think that would help alot of viewers out.
@Dinocfs Only if it’s injected separately from the diesel fuel. But he's not talking about water/meth injection, he stated "because so much meth and nitrous". If it’s mixed in, as the other poster implied, it would make less power not more as methanol has lower energy potential than diesel and any % methanol added to the diesel fuel would displace that same amount of diesel. For example mix in 10% methanol and every injection event has 10% less diesel going in the engine.
--- A diesel dragster? didn't expect it to sound that good. My buddy has a diesel Chevy truck that is really fast. I was pleasantly surprised at how quick it was past low-mid range.
--- I wonder how fast it would pull a one-bottom plow, All things considered? And if you did use the dragster for "some" farming, could you claim it on your farm taxes?
--- All kidding aside, that is one serious asphalt-pounder. Congratulations on the record.
This is very impressive. cant say i've witnessed a actual fast diesel. i've seen decent running ones for a pick up or a nearly bare frame, little to nothing in weight, with a diesel engine. with that said it will be decades before they can amount to the performance of the regular gasoline engine and especially the price. if i get to see that before i die ill buy one. until then ill stick with the naturally aspirated big blocks and lsx chevys.
So in comparison to a spark ignition motor, what's the limiting factor for revving up the diesels? I've heard plenty of hearsay from compression dwell to heavy rotating assemblies. Could you gentlemen at Banks please clarify? By the way I just would like to say that I think Mr.Banks is an extraordinary individual and I'm just happy that he's in the automotive performance industry.
i love the effort you guys put into this but how is this practial?? when you guys gona start building powerstrokes? i like to see it run just on diesel fuel maybe some nitrous like everyone else. Yeah this and the rail are fast but you cant tell me this is practial by any means, blowing a little smoke anit gona kill no one i dont care wat gale says
i agree g and j built one out of atruck they just had sitting around and it does low 9s and improving without nitros i think they should be able to to better still a cool truck tho
@GinoJerry86 ya i know.. been around racing all my life...and the only reason i wrote that is cause of 1 of the comments made by the person who posted this vid...
@GinoJerry86 well i just expected more from a sponsored truck from banks that claims to be the best company that is a low weight truck runnin faster then that when i can show a vid of a hillbilly 8k lbs truck runnin low 9s almost 8s lol
@StreetStylz56 so your truck runs low 9's at 150mph?the fastest 4x4 cummins i've seen was a regular cab that ran 9.10s at high 140's and it doesn't weigh 8000lbs
@osp80 well mine doesnt even run 20s atm its broke lol and now im putting the motor into a 56 chevy pickup, so im wishing for faster then 9s so we'll see.. but my friends pull truck runs 9s and he even has extra weight added to his truck for pulling... but he has like 60k plus in just the motor alone...pushing 100+lbs boost...and my cousins truck is runing the same..so thats y i dont understand y this truck isnt faster....
@StreetStylz56 they probably aren't 8k any more. the standard cab dodge 4x4 diesel trucks barely weigh more than 6k to start with, then as any racer would do, they gut the hell out of it and strip as much weight off of it as possible. still it ain't bad for a motor that is still using the stock crank, rods and block and making almost 1600 hp. do that with a stock 400 cubic inch engine lol
@hondarideralex some of the new trucks do weigh less, but im not talking about them... the ones im talking about are in the 8k range.. and u can do that out of a 400ci motor....just not for very long...i know this personally lol it went boom....
@StreetStylz56 The timing isn't linear. A Top Fuel dragster produces about 7000 bhp, weighs only a little over 1 ton and has tires much wider than this truck has. Theoretically, shouldn't they be running about 10 times faster which is 0.777 seconds or 77.7 milliseconds? In reality, they only complete the 1/4 mile almost twice as fast as this truck. I'm just saying, they're many more factors than just weight.
@gotboost2jz as i said. i expect more from banks. i also know the difference in times, and what it takes to run them, i just figured banks would be a bit faster then wat it was.
@StreetStylz56 At a certain speed aerodynamics becomes more important than weight. I'm a Dodge guy myself, but I'm givin' it to this Duramax because man that fucker GETS it!
@StreetStylz56 your an idiot, it will never be possible for a full size truck to run 7's. It takes so much power and weight reduction to just shave a second and a half. 1.5 seconds is a shit load in professional drag racing when your talking 7.7 to 9.2
@StreetStylz56 You show me a 4 ton truck running nines I'll show you a vehicle that isn't driven on the street anymore. Also if you think that the jump from 9s to 7s is just a matter of weight reduction you've got a lot left to learn about the 1320.
i meant over half as in liter size u fuckin moron they number of cylinders isnot the overall displacment of the motor our the only idiot on here bankspowerinsider lol you aint the insider of shit who would hire youre dumbass lmfao hahahahaha
im a duramax lover but ive never herd of any issues with the 6.7l only powerstroke i have herd has major issues aside from the 1st gen duramax with injectors as well
it is a very cool truck though...and whoever said it doesn't even sound like a diesel was right on. you can sort of tell at the end of his burnout, but otherwise...not. neverthe less, it really puts out some hp with that little crank with only 5 mains. Still, I'll take my cummins for economical, long lasting, strong pulling reliability.
read that ISB Cummins can handle 100 pounds boost without studs or o rings, some run over that. Someone should make a 2400 pound (or whatever) drag truck from a cummins..with that engine's weight, wouldn't be enoughmetal to build the rest of the truck without exceeding same weight of S10 in this vid.
its power it could have had if it had increased boost, but increased boost will add power and clear up the exhaust, but you add more fuel again till it smokes and make even more power then with just the raised boost...
@nachos1990 black smoke means that you have an overly fuel/air ratio, so the portion of diesel that turns into smoke is kind of wasted. these diesel engines have extremely large turbos, which means that you have little boost except an extreme kick on a narrow rev area (my guess is 3500-5000 rpm), and the diesel pump is tuned for that area, so it gives way too much fuel when not on boost. this engine probably has a circuit to determine the intake manifold pressure, limiting the diesel pump output
that truck is prolly very light and has a high rpm engine with lots of airflow and tuning i dont think it has much fuel tho cuz banks wants to stick to their no smoke nonsense cant wait till other guys who are rolin coall smoke this truck and beat banks record
@bankspowerinsider a jet truck can, the guy above didnt say diesel, and withing time and technology another truck will beat it, its all about money and time with new information and things to bring diesels faster
Outperform how? That's a drag "truck" not a 2.5 million dollar status symbol. Only things it does better, is accelerate and fuel economy, maybe emissions too, banks is a hardass about his diesels running clean.
k people need to get off the veyron's dick in terms of it being "fast"... what does the thing the thing run, high 9s low 10s? a mustang foxbody from the late 80's could be built to run faster than that with less than 20 grand. just cuz its got 1000 hp doesnt mean its the fastest thing in the world, especially when it weighs as much as a small house
Ur very right....but, the veyron is meant to be a every day car with the "capability" of being the "second fastest production" car in the world. And if you have money up the ying yang and a taste for fast and LUXURY cars, then who gives a flip what you spend it on. Sure you could build a foxbody to run faster BUT thats strict track....the veyron can be used anywhere and dominate!! Well until it goes up against the SSC UA
i can agree with that... i think i can speak for a lot of people including myself when i say that its pretty damn annoying when people think the veyron is the best thing ever made and nothing is faster than it just because it has 1000 hp... but as an all around car ill give it credit, i just dont believe the price justifies it
Have you ever driven a Veyron? Doubtful considering your 16, but im sure if you some how managed to get that honor, you would change your mind about the price. Have you ever felt what its like to go from 0-100kmh (62.1mph) in 2.5 seconds??? It takes alot of engineering to make a car that weighs 4,162lbs travel that fast. I think if you learned more about it, and what it took to build it...you would understand that this is a milestone in automotive history.
no... i am one of the 99.99% of people in this world who have not driven a bugatti veyron. would i like to? yes. do i have respect for it yes? do i think it's a milestone in automotive history? yes. do i think it's an engineering wonder to make 1000 hp from a 16 cylinder, 8 liter engine with 4 turbos? no. do i think going 0-60 in 2.5 seconds would be amazing? yes. do i think that rush is worth $1.25 million? no, it could be done with a fox body or another popular drag car for <$20k
You couldn't make a foxbody go 0-60 in 2.5 seconds for under 20k. You'd need serious displacement, a bulletproof rear end, a lenco tranny, roll cage, wheelie bar, and alot of traction. Any real racer will tell you that you'll be in to it for way way more then 20grand. To get a reliable race motor capable of 1200+hp will cost you 40 thow right there...then tack on the drivetrain and the cage, not to mention all the frame work....you need some experience buddy before you start throwing numbers
id rather have a cummins truck that goes 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and still get decent milage rather than ur veyron that gets like 8mpg and u call it street friendly its takes the bugati 16 cylinders 8 liters and 4 turbos to make 1000hp wat a joke my cummins can do it with half the turbos and a little over half the same engine size and still weigh 8000lbs yet easily still get over 16mpg so fuck ur veyron until they put a real engine into the car
diesel is the best engine! with all of that torsion it has it is better engine to drift also and those horse power u can get out of it example mercedes om606 diesel engine with turbo and 2bar pressure u can easily get 400whp and over 1000newtonmeter torsion!!!!!!!

@StreetStylz56 they probably aren't 8k any more. the standard cab dodge 4x4 diesel trucks barely weigh more than 6k to start with, then as any racer would do, they gut the hell out of it and strip as much weight off of it as possible. still it ain't bad for a motor that is still using the stock crank, rods and block and making almost 1600 hp. do that with a stock 400 cubic inch engine lol
hondarideralex 1 year ago
@hondarideralex some of the new trucks do weigh less, but im not talking about them... the ones im talking about are in the 8k range.. and u can do that out of a 400ci motor....just not for very long...i know this personally lol it went boom....
StreetStylz56 1 year ago
@StreetStylz56 The timing isn't linear. A Top Fuel dragster produces about 7000 bhp, weighs only a little over 1 ton and has tires much wider than this truck has. Theoretically, shouldn't they be running about 10 times faster which is 0.777 seconds or 77.7 milliseconds? In reality, they only complete the 1/4 mile almost twice as fast as this truck. I'm just saying, they're many more factors than just weight.
TechnologyR0xx0rz 1 year ago
@TechnologyR0xx0rz oh i know there are more factors then weight...im just sayin i expected alot more from banks.....
StreetStylz56 1 year ago
@StreetStylz56
expected more than the world fastest diesel?....lol
thats a solid ass run. the difference between 9 and 7 is HUGE
its not the same 1.5 second difference as 13 and 14.5 for example.
gotboost2jz 1 year ago
@gotboost2jz as i said. i expect more from banks. i also know the difference in times, and what it takes to run them, i just figured banks would be a bit faster then wat it was.
StreetStylz56 1 year ago
@StreetStylz56 cuz diesels have no top end.
Qball914 1 year ago
@StreetStylz56 At a certain speed aerodynamics becomes more important than weight. I'm a Dodge guy myself, but I'm givin' it to this Duramax because man that fucker GETS it!
AaronWallace 1 year ago
@StreetStylz56 your an idiot, it will never be possible for a full size truck to run 7's. It takes so much power and weight reduction to just shave a second and a half. 1.5 seconds is a shit load in professional drag racing when your talking 7.7 to 9.2
SuperchargedShaw 1 year ago
@StreetStylz56 ur dumb u acct like going a few second faster is all that easy to move 3000+pounds
Jimmbo102 1 year ago
@Jimmbo102 all i said is i expected more, omg let it go get laid in rl seriously.....
StreetStylz56 1 year ago
@StreetStylz56 You show me a 4 ton truck running nines I'll show you a vehicle that isn't driven on the street anymore. Also if you think that the jump from 9s to 7s is just a matter of weight reduction you've got a lot left to learn about the 1320.

I've never heard of a diesel powered car or truck accelerating very fast, or achieving such top speed. Impressive!

yeah, too bad there in a dodge tho, without cummins dodge would be nothing
nickw059 2 years ago 3
it is a very cool truck though...and whoever said it doesn't even sound like a diesel was right on. you can sort of tell at the end of his burnout, but otherwise...not. neverthe less, it really puts out some hp with that little crank with only 5 mains. Still, I'll take my cummins for economical, long lasting, strong pulling reliability.
brent440 2 years ago
read that ISB Cummins can handle 100 pounds boost without studs or o rings, some run over that. Someone should make a 2400 pound (or whatever) drag truck from a cummins..with that engine's weight, wouldn't be enoughmetal to build the rest of the truck without exceeding same weight of S10 in this vid.
brent440 2 years ago
damn. I'm putting a triple turbo 4BG1 in my s10. it will probably do the same 1/4 mile time.

420witchdoctor 2 years ago
all that black exhaust is just unburnt diesel fuel because not enough air so for those who think it's cool your losing horsepower
orangechevy79 2 years ago
black smoke dosen't mean your losing power at all it just means you have more room for more air .
nachos1990 2 years ago 15
yah the engine doesn't lose horsepower but it is lost horsepower that it could of had
orangechevy79 2 years ago 5
its power it could have had if it had increased boost, but increased boost will add power and clear up the exhaust, but you add more fuel again till it smokes and make even more power then with just the raised boost...
what ever you do max power will make smoke
mageac 2 years ago
@nachos1990 black smoke means that you have an overly fuel/air ratio, so the portion of diesel that turns into smoke is kind of wasted. these diesel engines have extremely large turbos, which means that you have little boost except an extreme kick on a narrow rev area (my guess is 3500-5000 rpm), and the diesel pump is tuned for that area, so it gives way too much fuel when not on boost. this engine probably has a circuit to determine the intake manifold pressure, limiting the diesel pump output
moptim 1 year ago
@nachos1990 Waste of fuel though.
joffeloff 1 year ago
No. Doesn't mean losing horsepower. It simply means excess fuel.
Tboninator 2 years ago
that truck is prolly very light and has a high rpm engine with lots of airflow and tuning i dont think it has much fuel tho cuz banks wants to stick to their no smoke nonsense cant wait till other guys who are rolin coall smoke this truck and beat banks record
yfz450lover 2 years ago
i would like to see any other truck beat this one.
mellenjuice 2 years ago
No truck has ever beaten this one.
bankspowerinsider 2 years ago
I know thats what I'm saying, its never gonna happen =)
mellenjuice 2 years ago
it hasnt happened yet but it will and scheid diesel already has a dragster faster thay just need to do it with a truck now
yfz450lover 2 years ago
thats if they can do it with a truck
mellenjuice 2 years ago
@bankspowerinsider I bet if someone else had that kind of money to put into a diesel drag truck it would be possible.
adamslurch71 1 year ago
@bankspowerinsider dude i want your truck haha, very impressive beautiful truck
JensenDub 1 year ago
@bankspowerinsider a jet truck can, the guy above didnt say diesel, and withing time and technology another truck will beat it, its all about money and time with new information and things to bring diesels faster

@bankspowerinsider The poor rear tires LoL isn't that dangerous if they got damaged through that wrinkeling ?!

wouldn't doubt it

AdMiRaLeDpIeTt 2 years ago 48
Outperform how? That's a drag "truck" not a 2.5 million dollar status symbol. Only things it does better, is accelerate and fuel economy, maybe emissions too, banks is a hardass about his diesels running clean.
SpecialKLSX 2 years ago
k people need to get off the veyron's dick in terms of it being "fast"... what does the thing the thing run, high 9s low 10s? a mustang foxbody from the late 80's could be built to run faster than that with less than 20 grand. just cuz its got 1000 hp doesnt mean its the fastest thing in the world, especially when it weighs as much as a small house
konascrap888 2 years ago
can mustangs turn? do the fox bodys have leather seats or navigation?
25evets 2 years ago
no, but a $30k chevy malibu does. and a $5k miata will turn
konascrap888 2 years ago
do you automaticly get rich ass pussy cunt and some butthole for driving either one of those cars? ehhhh doubt it.
25evets 2 years ago
yeah prolly not, but a $70k mercedes will.
konascrap888 2 years ago
Ur very right....but, the veyron is meant to be a every day car with the "capability" of being the "second fastest production" car in the world. And if you have money up the ying yang and a taste for fast and LUXURY cars, then who gives a flip what you spend it on. Sure you could build a foxbody to run faster BUT thats strict track....the veyron can be used anywhere and dominate!! Well until it goes up against the SSC UA
SuperMuise 2 years ago
i can agree with that... i think i can speak for a lot of people including myself when i say that its pretty damn annoying when people think the veyron is the best thing ever made and nothing is faster than it just because it has 1000 hp... but as an all around car ill give it credit, i just dont believe the price justifies it
konascrap888 2 years ago
Have you ever driven a Veyron? Doubtful considering your 16, but im sure if you some how managed to get that honor, you would change your mind about the price. Have you ever felt what its like to go from 0-100kmh (62.1mph) in 2.5 seconds??? It takes alot of engineering to make a car that weighs 4,162lbs travel that fast. I think if you learned more about it, and what it took to build it...you would understand that this is a milestone in automotive history.
SuperMuise 2 years ago
no... i am one of the 99.99% of people in this world who have not driven a bugatti veyron. would i like to? yes. do i have respect for it yes? do i think it's a milestone in automotive history? yes. do i think it's an engineering wonder to make 1000 hp from a 16 cylinder, 8 liter engine with 4 turbos? no. do i think going 0-60 in 2.5 seconds would be amazing? yes. do i think that rush is worth $1.25 million? no, it could be done with a fox body or another popular drag car for <$20k
konascrap888 2 years ago
You couldn't make a foxbody go 0-60 in 2.5 seconds for under 20k. You'd need serious displacement, a bulletproof rear end, a lenco tranny, roll cage, wheelie bar, and alot of traction. Any real racer will tell you that you'll be in to it for way way more then 20grand. To get a reliable race motor capable of 1200+hp will cost you 40 thow right there...then tack on the drivetrain and the cage, not to mention all the frame work....you need some experience buddy before you start throwing numbers
SuperMuise 2 years ago
yeah i may not have the experience of a nascar pit chief, but you sure dont either. you have a boat.
konascrap888 2 years ago

SuperMuise 2 years ago
the fact that it only makes 1000hp from a quad turbo w16 is shit
the engine actually makes 4000hp but looses 3000 to friction that is not what i would call sweet
and yeah a million bucks is way to much even though the car (except the engine) is very well designed
bobwatters 2 years ago
its a production block 6.6 duratrash im only defendin it cause its a diesel what the fuck r u smokin?
jonesd5o 2 years ago
id rather have a cummins truck that goes 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and still get decent milage rather than ur veyron that gets like 8mpg and u call it street friendly its takes the bugati 16 cylinders 8 liters and 4 turbos to make 1000hp wat a joke my cummins can do it with half the turbos and a little over half the same engine size and still weigh 8000lbs yet easily still get over 16mpg so fuck ur veyron until they put a real engine into the car
yfz450lover 2 years ago
oh i agree, the next vehicle i bu
