The current economic situation got started 20 years ago with Carter and Reagan, which faced economic problems related to the Oil Blockade and then turned to Reaganomics under Reagan. Then succesive admonistrations until now continue deregulation, expanded credit limits, and mandated expanded housing adquisition by the less capable of doing so. Ceratinly Bush now make things even worse by starting at least one of two wars with poor planning. So if Bush is quilty, everyone else is too.

There is blame enough for all. Everybody in government, the GSE's, Wall Street, the mortgage bankers like Countrywide and WAMU all fed at the trough like starving hogs. This whole mess is very reminisent of the real estate bubble in commercial real estate created by Japan "reinvesting" their trade surplus back in the US economy and real estate. The bubble sent them into an economic tailspin for decades but didn't hurt us as badly. Here are the facts, the housing bubble saw prices rise 84% excluding inflation between 1997 - Dec 2007. The Case Shiller Index reported this fact as it occurred each month. For the Bush presidency, the appointees to the Fed, Tres. & Housing Dept, OCC, Office of Federal Oversignt of FNMA, FHLMC has been appointed by Bush. He has had a control of or had a veto proof Congress for his entire term. This mess was entirely predictable and avoidable with any reasonable regulatory constraint. The facts!
