  • thanks i needed that

  • Yea, Alan said it was about relationships the ups and downs but over all it was in praise of women and how men could not live without them.

  • Damn, when I listen to this, I just can't believe that that time period is over. It's gone. We're old. Despite the world being so much more fabulous now in so many ways, the world sucks now in so many ways!

Almost all of the good and bad for me has to do with the breakdown of social structures and civility and the rise of the computer and internet.

  • I possess all the ten APP albums. And this song is my favourite of the entire discography!!

  • This album was in praise of all women.

  • @Carrots43 Really? It always seemed quite the opposite tome.

  • wicked awesome song...makes todays music look like the joke it is

  • @codern todays music is a joke!

  • good

  • Alan Parsons is the best audio engineer

  • @toba03 without question

  • I remember my mother playing this album when I was a child growing up years later and I still love to listen to this album, somethings just get better with time and good music is one of those things.

  • Remember when it came out when I was in High School, great tune.

  • Best one on a highly underrated album

  • ty ty for posting

  • One of my favorites of all time!!!!!

  • I played this on trumpet when my Embouchure was younger lol.

  • I was the first in my group to notice the warts, don't know what that says but i know my warts....

  • Remembering the eighties, Damn good song! AKA007

  • Damned if I don't but love you

  • this is so special to me! I love APP.

  • Alan Parsons this, Alan Parsons that! It was actually Eric Woolfson who wrote most of the songs and the lyrics. All main APP ideas were his.

  • alan parsons worked with the beatles on abbey road what more can be said.......genius..

  • @toshtile Yeh he engineered Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon 3 most sold album ever 45 Million after Thriller 110 and Back in Black489 million. I'd say that is special!

  • Que se casen entre ellas!!!!

  • I am not sure what idiot said to have loved and lost is better than to have never loved at all... BUT HE WAS A STUPID ASS. I love APP! Come on guys do a come back... they will let you out of the nursing home for one final world tour... LOL.

  • @spitfire1008 It's a shame, but Eric Woolfson, singer, keyboardist and composer/writer for the APP died over a year ago. Alan Parsons still plays these songs with his band (so I've heard).

  • Heartache so sucks.

  • This is my music I listen between loves.

  • @supperbowl43 There is no "loves". I will love forever a certain person and only her, eventhough she stabbed me in the back and pretty much ruined all my chances for a happy life. I can try to deceive myself but it won't do any good in the long run.

  • @mansenmias Are you 5 years old?

  • @mansenmias check yourself before you Judge another.

  • Interesting album cover. The warts, lesions, and other scars on the models' face made my day.

  • @bearmare - agree, a very good album cover!

  • Thanks very much for posting this! Reminds me of the good ol days! This was the last APP album I ever bought and I had all of them before this. Turn of a freindly card was great too. Tales and I robot were the best.

  • i hope everybody is happy

  • Yup!! thanks cole!

  • Que hermosa cancion...!

  • siis tämä on hyvä biisi.

  • I do love you,May W and if Ido demn.........but I love you

  • I like how alan used different artists for the vocals on all his albums... lenny zakatek being my favourite....great time in music when it was a hell of alot better that the garbage that taints my ears nowadays.

  • @vinto34 , you stole that comment right out of my mind. You should be arrested

  • i WAS saying it!!!1!

    tyvm4p!!

  • This moved us in the early 80's after Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. It had to be so strong to do so!

  • @Cris1949 so do I

  • What a good production this was!

  • I enjoy so much with listening this band.I´m spanish but these songs fill me up

  • of the the best songs, going into the Army, im 1981

  • APP is timeless! Just as good today as it was when they first started releasing albums

  • doctor_dale88

this discribes every woman I have ever loved. they all just drove me crazy

  • This is APPs BEST SONG PERIOD.............

  • Hit #27 in the US (Billboard). Part of it sounded like the theme music for 'American top 40' . How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • Red haired woman I will soon beDEADPlease EMAIL me!

  • Yeah, Alan Parsons conceptual albums are not forgotten! The cutting edge of technology, look what he did without Microsoft! lmao! btw: where would Pink be without him? lol

  • Dancing all the night just cant seem to get it right......I still love this one!

  • The Big 80's!

  • so i get to marry one of these women?+

  • hysterical scream!

  • No worries, Tim. I understand. I actually thought it was kind of cute. Maybe she will, too. I was amused by how hard it would be for you to move to the hated OK instead of Texas. Nice gesture, though.

  • Excellent audio quality, well done. Thanks for sharing, it's one of my favorite APP tunes.

  • I had a cassette of this album that I wore out, then I couldn't find another copy with that intro. Lenny Zakatek's voice killed me when he first came out. I blew out the speakers of my dad's gigantic hi-fi listening to this song!

  • I used to love going jogging listening to the APP.

  • One of their best

  • APP----Ithought has always been under rated.......they were a very talented group....:-)

  • Bainson on guitar simply the best Zakatek vocals say no more brilliant APP get your band back together albeit without the great man himself (ERIC) the wolf

  • dope find homies! Dj wich, Nironic - Do my thing.

  • Probably my favorite song of all time.

  • @thunderbay63 -wonderful music.. .simply astounding

  • incredibly guitarplaying by Ian here as always !

  • the women in the cover album (i believe there were three of them) have embedded corruption in the flesh. one needs to look closer at their beautiful face. deadly face of corruption... you're damned if you do.. and you're damned if you don't... : )

  • Redheaded women are more trouble than they're worth. Mine drove me crazy and still I'll never have her

  • @karlmoles65

are you sure it wasn't the hair on your back that drove her away?

  • Naw, women usually enjoy running their hands throught that, just ask Your Mom.

  • @karlmoles65

so red headed women like to run their hands through the hair on your back, cuz they dig it?

buddy, that's *all* you'll ever get a woman to get to do for you. period.

    just ask my mom.

  • I did, remember?

Gosh You got a short attention span...

  • @shtstirrer AHEM She might wish to save that for her book? AIIIIIE Is You Tube teaching me all that stuff I didn't know at 14.

    TOO LATE NOW...

  • Oklahoma vs. Texas. Hmmmm. Aren't they just about identical? Texan men probably edge out Okies for assininity. Is their similarity the reason why they hate each other?

  • I think Dr. Evil described this band the best. Great stuff.

  • absolutely fantastic song !!

  • APP has been my favorite album since 1978 or so. Pyramid was my favorite but Eve has grown on my ever since. Since I am going through a divorce this music is right on. What a diverse interpretation of relationship in this masterpiece. Dammed if I do dammed if I dont I love APP! God Bless Eric! RIP We miss YA!

  • I am right there with you...APP has such mesmerzing music, it was a part of my life, I have almost all their vinyls...telling my age but still COOL.

  • @danielnordeen

Good luck and enjoy the peace and freedom coming up for you.

Went thru that last year. Love the quiet now. :D

  • My folks were falling love when this music was new, guess it's OK to listen to it now. I like it.

  • My favourite APP song, my father has the vinyls and i have the CDs, i still prefer tje vinyls :)

  • Yeah the vinyls sound so much better! I have all of Queens vinyls, some Beatles, Supertramp, Solo John Lennon, and ELO. Hope to add soe Alan Parson to my collection soon!

  • Don't get in a hurry, Californiway. They're only about 30 years old.

  • One of my favorite artists of all time.

  • I have this album in all its vinyl glory. I should post the entire cover so everyone can see it. I loved APP when I was like 10 years old and still do. Great music.

  • I got this album on cassette when it first came out in 1979 knowing nothing about it except for this song. I don't have the cassette anymore (it was replaced with a CD a few years back). The APP has become one of my favorite 'groups' of all time although I didn't really start to appreciate them until about 1984. It was a damned shame that Eric Woolfson has passed on. He was a genius; and a good singer and keyboard player for that matter.

  • Mi viene tanto in mente la mia gioventù. Quando avevo i capelli.

  • I think this is one of the best songs of the great Alan, I hear since I was a child and never get bored of it

  • I saw APP in 1994 in Philadelphia. Who were the two singers at that concert???

  • *sigh* Unfortunatly with how badly Eve did here in the States, most of my days have been spent scrounging for a vinyl or 8-track of it (I'm a collector). I haven't even found a single stinking-copy on CD. I've only ever been able to find like 3-5 songs of Eve on the Definitive and Best of Collections. I'm currently ordering a re-release of the CD as I want it to complete my current CD collection. :/

This is by far one of my favorites....:3

  • I wasn't aware that Eve sold badly in the USA...."Damned If I Do" got huge airplay in the 1970s....probably more than any other APP song

  • Eve didn't sell well here in the U.S. People here can be dumb. This record is awesome.

  • I swear, where I live,in Bulgaria, only me my father and a bunch of people know who alan is

  • This is one of the best bands ever way ahead of the times

  • @norrisshawn1 Alan Parsons was around with the Beatles and Pink Floyd - he's gotta be good!

  • best song ever !!! rock on ....

  • @immisskitty nah, good tune but Janis was way better

  • absolut BRILLIANT;PRETTY COOL;G E I L

  • I borrowed this album from a friend in 1979. I gave it back in 2007 with tears in my eyes.

  • You say you gave this back 20 some years later "with tears in your eyes." Why?

  • Well, obviously because he wanted to keep it. Can't say I blame him. Also, its a vintage album now, probably worth some bucks!

  • Get outta here!!! This is my second all-time APP album, next to I Robot..... but by a very slim margin!!

  • haha your old!

  • "Damned if I do, damned if I don't!" *chuckle* Love can be that way!

  • I love Lenny Zakatek's and Chris Rainbow's voice when they help preform Alan Parsons Project

  • Bob Welch, former Fleetwood Mac, was awsome. His song "hypnotized" while with the Mac was a masterpiece.

  • Yeh my sister insisted I buy Mystery to Me in 1975 or so and Wow I was changed. Then when Rumors can out I fell in live with Stevie. Still love that dress from the back.

  • Thanks for the comment daniel. Dave Mason was also a guitarist with FM for a brief period. He's a former member of the band Traffic and his song "We just Disagree" is a great utube download also.

  • For those of you "teens and youths" out there, y'all really missed out on a great music era---classic rock of the 70s! Does anybody remember a guy named Bob Welch...with "Ebony Eyes?"

I would make a deal with the devil to go back to 1980 when KROY 1240 AM was still rockin'!...keep rockin', Sacramento!!!

  • Hell ya bob welch...good memories

  • Sounds like my marriage!!!

  • Boy, can I relate to this song. I love APP., I blasted the 8-track from my enormous car speakers, in my convertible. What memories. Damned if I, Damned if I don't. How prophetic for me.

  • Comment removed

  • Lenny sang lead vocals, you dont believe me one of the best songs APP (lyric wise) of all time. A true star

  • Singer sounds a little like Neil Sedaka. The guys name, Lenny Zakatek, is somewhat similar too.

  • i used to liook at the album cover all the time as a kid,and wondered how the women on the cover would treat those warts lol.

  • Yeah, takes me back to my teen years. They don't make this kinda music anymore....sad.

  • great song eh?

  • I'm sorry to say that I'm IN my teen years and thinking the same thing. Lucky you guys hahah

  • I agree! Genesis, APP, MoodyBlues, This music always takes me back to my teen years.

  • There are a few more bands to add to the Moodys, and APP...I agree they are great bands; but don't forget YES, ELP, Floyd and early Genesis

  • You can say that again!!! The Moodys and APP are head and shoulders above virtually all of the bands in the Hall of Fame. The hall of fame should have been in Philly in the first place. The fact that it is such political bullshit to get in it in the first place makes the R and R Hall of Fame a complete joke. Long live APP and the Moodys!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • amen

  • just like the Moody Blues!! Bands that should have already been int the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame, but for some reason--they're not!

  • APP and Moody Blues are too good for the R n R hall of fame

  • Alan, this talent.............damned i do but i love your music.

  • AWESOME SONG

  • all i got to say is great song and a very underated band ty for the post

  • Después de oir esto ya no me caso...

  • this is one of my fav songs of alan parson's project... actually it is included in the album...THE BEST OF ALAN PARSON'S PROJECT.. but the intro was cut short...

  • Eve is just an amazing album.... I can just listen to it, end to end... This song pours out the emotions every man has felt about a relationship or marriage... shit.

  • indeed..wish females could understand this shit

  • The story of every man's (or women's) life at one time or another.

  • superb

  • I haven't heard this in 25 years, thanks for posting. A beauty.

  • How was this cover controversial??? I'd love to hear the story of that. This album is incredible, especially love 'Winding Me Up' and 'If Only I Could Change Your Mind'- Makes me wanna cry every time....

  • who are the two girls on the cover its been bugging me for years are they actresses or models

  • Lo escuchaba una y otra y otra véz...

  • Same to me as you,Panawil and Phambo! In my country AP was the favorit music of night radios that displayed programs about misterys, legends and ufos.Great teenage nights!!

  • Damned if I Do is about my favourite APP song. Wonderful music, and what about the lyric? Fantastic! Enjoy it!

  • When I was a kid, the local TV station used the intro theme to present the daily evening movie. Thats where I first heard it.

  • That's cool, what city? What kind of movies did they show?

  • Miami, the tv station doesnt exist anymore, it was called WCIX, at that time they showed classic movies from the 40's through the 70's.

  • i was never aware that the cover was controversial until recently, but then again i had it on 8-track(lol).so the cover was kind of small to notice the details behind the veils.

  • It reminds me of my youth! when I was a teen and listened to Allan Parson together with my best friends the hole afternoon. Those were the days!

  • I love Alan Parsons, Supertramp, ELO, Little River Band where did they go????

  • very, very talented group! phambo101,my herat goes out to u!

  • by far, the best work of the project. k.e.g.

  • I cvompletely agree with you. This song is incredibly beautiful!

  • I absolutely agree with you. Damned If I Do is the best work of the Project

  • This song is very freakin' haunting to me; most of my friends are gone, either dead or heartbroken, but this will always carry "live" memories in my heart!!!...

  • I came home from school everyday and this tune would be playing on KROY(no longer on air).

  • i never heard of kroy on 1240 am, I thought it was 97 Kroy on FM, i won tickets to a mountain aire 84 concert from that station, went off air about 1985 or so. this song came out like 5 years before that so maybe it was on Am then. I remember hearing alot of APP on that channel though.

  • KROY 1240 AM Sacramento, CA Gosh, we really missed ya!

  • Old radio stations.....we do miss them....anybody remember KSLQ in St. Louis, MO?

  • came out on the top 40 charts the week before thanksgiving 1979. actually hit the charts on 11-17-79, staying there for 8 weeks peaking at number 27! if i could go back to this era i wouldn't think about it long!

  • My rooths come into my mind when I hear this song.

  • love this song!

  • many good albums try their take on Poe

  • Blast from the past. I have not heard this since 1979. Thanks for posting this gem.

  • Just the first touch into APP for me, I was almost a kid... More than 20 yrs ago, gotta tell thks to my major Bros for taking me into this paradise.

    D.

  • Alan Parsons Ever

  • Great song!!

  • Great tune...that lp cover was extremly controverisal for 1979

  • Why?

  • yes please tell us why the cover was controversial?

  • The women have advanced VD and they are wearing veils for 1979 that was controversial in 2008 that's art

  • I've never heard of that before.
