  • this is just brilliant (like the whole of TMOHK and Andorra)

  • def best caribou song

  • Then your smile it melts away again...makes no sense

  • @tulllguy the song is about a relationship that is failing, and i think it is "and when you smile it melts away again"

  • How the eff can anyone click dislike to this video?? seriously...

  • Beautiful song and music video, but anyone else get the feeling that they don't go well together? I feel like this video is too "loud" for the song...Not complaining, though, just an observation.

  • the ending is just so good ahhh

  • Comment removed

  • great song, I need to listen to it once in a while.

  • pure bliss

  • hermoso

  • Great Clip!!

  • Def one of my top 5 albums:

    1. Caribou - Swim

    2.Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles

    3. Night Shining - Dark Age

    4. LCD Sound System - This is Happening

    5. Neon Indian - Psychic Chasms

  • @prosperitydumpling fuck swim Up in Flames is soooooo much better

  • @pollenonmynose hahaha

  • @SilentEcho33 All his albums are great. Got to show respect.

  • @prosperitydumpling

    musical soulmate

  • I love how it just starts with a BANG. Not some lame, slow intro.

By the way, flute riffs make this song 100% awesomer.

  • Yeah I'm with Daz. Could be a featuring Elliot Smith on vocals for all anyone could say for sure.

  • me too!! :-)

  • amazing song

  • this songs in forever forum

    nic suaves part hella legit

  • Reminds me a lot of Elliott Smith.

  • youre right .

  • if you like it now you just have have have absolutely have to see him on stage and there are no excuses. one of best gigs, if not the best, i've seen till today:) kicks ass like hell!

  • This song has a sensibility about it that reminds me of Sixties psychedelia.

  • i love it, reminds me of my girls by AC

  • This is great! I like the rhythm, but the vocals aren't as good as Grizzly Bear's. I do love Caribou though!

  • To tell the truth, not many bands can come close to Grizzly Bear's vocals. :P

  • so how did you guys first hear this song?

  • Just now. Was looking for photos of chemtrails for an upload and came across a nice one featuring Beck's song (Chemtrails). A lot of people complained that it sounded a lot like Caribou so I looked it up and this was the first song.

It's nice, but I like Chemtrails better.

  • I loved Four Tet's remix of this song, so I checked out the original and here I am. I love both versions!

  • Me too :D

  • i listened the remix first.

  • @acrabadra I heard it at a Chanel fashion show :D Chanel plays some awesome indie songs

  • Love caribou!

  • I have just discovered this music and this is truly incredible. And I agree, it reminds me in some points of Grizzly Bear.

  • @quikygreen Although hasn't Caribou been around longer?

  • trippy vid.....great song : D

  • reminds me of Grizzly Bear :) i like it

  • awakening

  • the singing really reminds me of Elliot smith

  • Favorite because my name is Melody Day

  • LOL thats awesome...i actually just czeched your utube profile just to see if that was legit..

  • #1 banger on the playlist

big cheers from the hometown fans in dundas

  • I love this song, I found it in a Chanel Fashion Show, jajaja, it was worthy.

    Hello from Tijuana, México

  • Nossa! Amo esse song!

    lovely sound

    jackspol> Brazil > RS > camaqua

  • i want to hug this band for writing this song

  • @Unclescatpants i want to hug the band for all their songs

  • @Unclescatpants

I thought it was one guy that writes all the parts and finds different people to perform it

  • what are they saying around 1:20 and before and after for a little while?

  • It certainly sounds like BJ. though I've read an unsourced statement claiming its "Bejae", the name of a girl he once new. Doesn't really matter either way.

  • beautiful

  • A thing of wonder. And the fact that it wasn't played to death on the all pervading radio means that it keeps its freshness. Or am I wrong somewhere?! After all, Metal Guru, Paperback Writer and countless others were played to the Grim Reaper and back, and yet still retain their freshness, all these sunrises and sunsets later. Hmmm. This, though is sheer brilliance.

  • this is supreme

  • "Irene" from Caribou is awesome too

  • whats he talkin about like i saw the lyrics is he talkin about a person or what? help me out here i love this song justneed to figure that out.

  • I was just listing songs that I liked. The songs remind me of this song, and in particular of the producer Danger Mouse.

  • I really like this vid...

No idea why, but it's cool.

  • Besides "Love Dog", the songs involved producer Danger Mouse. His work w/ Gnarls Barkley: "St. Elsewhere", "Just a Thought", "Storm Coming", "Going on", "Blind Mary", "She Knows" His other work: "Harmonia" -Replica Sun Machine "I Got Mine", "Strange Times" -Black Keys "Modern Guilt" -Beck "Carnies" -Martina Topley "Don Gon Do It" -Rapture "Medieval" -Jemini "Encore" -JAY-Z (Grey Album) Others: "Do You Realize??" -Flaming Lips "Everything", "El Cielo" -Radio Citizen "The Last Waltz" -OLDBOY
  • this group sure likes to use the bells.

  • If you like this song, you would probably like:

"Reckoner" -Radiohead (or live from Gnarls Barkley)

"Love Dog" -TV on the Radio

    "Surprise" -Gnarls Barkley

    "Walls" -Beck

"Every Planet We Reach is Dead" -Gorillaz

    "Crosshairs" -DangerDOOM

  • those were really great songs besides the last two.

but you should suggest more songs you have good taste

  • there are more songs ^

  • when you first heard this song a few times, did you honestly see a 'dull gravel pit' in your mind? what the hell was the video director thinking!?

  • oh yeah, I was definitely thinking "lush forest"

  • I heared this by chance in the record shop and bought the CD staight away.

In my opinion the CD Andorra is reminiscent of Syd Barret´s Pink Floyd, The Velvets, The Byrds and many more of that era.

    What a great album!

  • Try the milk of human kindness, it's excellent too! : )

  • Agreed

  • as if its from another era

    <3<3<3<3

  • AMAZING SONG!!

    and trippy video ;)

  • I remember the first time I heard this song. I was getting some food, listening to the local radio (mostly crap), and this came on. It just shocked us; it was like a breath of fresh air in our charred lungs. I looked up their other stuff, and although none of it pleased me, I still LOVE THIS SONG!!

  • freakin awesome

ive been trying to find out what this song was called and finally i did

  • What an amazing band. I've just rediscovered...

  • love em. saw them perform at glasto this year, disappointingly fe to hear this uber talented band. but how lucky for us. we were in for a treat. they are superb live. Please come back to uk caribou!

  • I love the song, I heard it first when I was watching Chanel ready to wear spring summer 2008

  • Chanel always plays awesome music =]

  • un freakin real. Music is still alive and kicking. Hi from Chicago!

  • I cant stop listening to this, what a track, oh gosh!! My arms, legs will always to comply to the waves of this melody!

  • goosebumps on the first listen. it doesn't get better than that!

  • ♥

    love it muchly.

  • how nice i like your music by the way the way im melody

  • Oh, and the song makes me melt. SO GOOD.

  • I still have no idea what this video is about, yet it is indescribably cool.

  • Melody Day is an awesome song. Andorra (the album) is awesome and Caribou is awesome.

  • This song is addicting

  • I love this song

  • uou perfect

  • This is a zenith, a culmination of someone who is attempting to stretch an invisible plaster over a widening Paris. Or some such.

  • ALUCINANTE

  • I love Manitoba. :)

  • great album

  • i's the opening song from Chanel SS 2008 Ready to Wear.

  • yeah it is, where fierce Coco Rocha opens the show

  • lol at last comment - you're mental - great song - although vocals are too low

  • It's supposed to be like that.

  • i like it like that - not it's supposed to be like that

    ass..

  • What a moronic statement, I guess to you good music would be Skynyrd or Foghat.

  • from the irish o2 free texts advert

  • yeah, that's how i discoverd it too... actually, it's the four tet remix you can hear during the ad

  • Hey francfortois thanks for the name of the remix, i wonder if the remix from the advert is on YouTube i know the Free Texts is advert is on it.

  • yeah, check my favorites, the four tet remix is in it. a nice fellow called blythstyle used it for one of his (cool) videos. besides, this remix can be easily found for free download on the web

    cheers man!

  • Hey francforois thanks for the info! it's a really good tune i am gonna try download it online! I'm gonna check the one in your faves now! thanks

  • God, I simply love that song, great concert in Athens GR, as well

  • my band will be called rightside hammerer if i ever have a band

  • Hi, I'm the right side hammerer. The reason I'm so bad is because I'm wearing a mask and can't see a thing!

So in that sense I'm really good!

  • Oh, thanks for your comment. That explains it... I'm appreciative and sympathetic now :)

  • The guy on the left is much better in hammering he stake. The guy on the right is kinda all over the place, drives me nuts. He-he-he... obviously, I can't stop watching and listening to this song, I love it!

  • simply amazing

  • I still am not sure about the story line but the textures are great

  • Wonderful!

  • nice effects and what not. but it was apparent that the a idea for a narrative never really materialized.

  • fgovaibu vubovin bacrj

  • fgvbvbvn

  • going to see them tommorow night

  • "BJ!!! ayayaaayyyaayyyayyyayyy.."

  • this songs on the chanel show ss08

  • why dont they play this on the radio waves

  • Because people with bad taste in music rule the air waves. Wish I could do something about it.

  • Los discos y los temas son muy buenos......pero en vivo......suenan como el poto....

  • bueno, bueno

  • Wonderous. O.O

  • e la raja este tema ql

    muy weno

  • turururu . . . .

    hmmm i feel it!! awsome

  • beauty in one of it's many forms

  • una de las mejores canciones de Andorra

  • Arg this is brilliant

  • cool

  • lo mejor melody day ... lo mejor ...

    saludos desde chile

  • i can't stop watching and listening to this

  • simply amazing :]

  • Sex!

  • This is such an amazing video. For some reason, my favorite part about it is the two guys hitting the stake. It's cool how they managed to keep it in tune with the beat.

    Such a cool song.

  • I know I'm going to get rawred at for saying this...

But I liked Caribou's earlier stuff better. the earlier stuff was more interesting because there was less singing (not that I don't like singing) and a wider use of intsruments/rhythmns...Then again I just suppose they changed their sound around to get a bigger fan base.

    -mehshrug-

  • Not necessarily...

Why is it appropraite to assume that a more "accessible" sound is meant to grow one's fan base? What he's doing now requires a ton of maturity as a musician...granted anyone could make music of this new style but few could do it this well. Maybe he's just gotten more mature.

I don't know...I like his older and new stuff for different reasons.

  • he is constantly changing... all of his records incorporate electronic sounds in a different genre. He is known for that. Using pop as a palette is the sign of a good musician. I heart Caribou.

  • hasn't this kid always been pop? it's definitely more "band" now, but i's always been pretty accessible, or do you disagree?

  • Beautifull,beautifull and just beautifull...

    Nostalgic and

    So Pure and Innocent .

    Love it.

  • what do they say in the chorus?

  • "Bejae" - the name of a girl he went to school with & thought her name was pretty.

  • is that true?

i've been wondering for a long time what he is singing :) thanks

  • like it. ;)

  • Awesome Song!! this is the first song i've ever said awesome for! :)

  • this is one of the greatest songs ever written and will be recogniZed as such eventually....PERFECT!

  • It was filmed on an island outside the mainland of Sweden, called Gotland. Not far away from where Ingmar Bergman lived and made some of his early movies.

    /Daniel Eskils

  • åh va coolt!!!

  • Fantastic! Where on earth was it filmed though?

  • this is the coolest song!!!!

  • wouf i think i just found the best way to start my day

  • This is musical greatness in it's purest form!

  • amazing song, amazing video

  • Awesome Canadian talent.

The Canadian indie scene def. needs more representation in music.

  • ...the work of ONE man... And he´s from Canada.

  • It feels like a lot longer song that it is. I love the combination of vocals, structure..etc. Awesome! ^^

  • Gah! *than [not that..]

  • have you guys heard the other version four tet remix (feat Luke lalonde and others) real fucking good

  • Well, this one is quite compelling and uplifting, and it's not pretentious in any way.
