There is no question that condoms are highly effective in preventing the spreading of STDs, (to me at least). The Pope believes Africans are capable of seeing the wisdom and safety of saving sex for marriage, which if actually practiced would most certainly be a better solution than condoms. The question becomes is this a realistic goal. I tend to think it is not, but I can understand how a reasonable person can believe otherwise.
